I divided them into four bags, put them in a backpack and went to the nearest address on Leningradsky Prospekt. In the subway, as luck would have it, I was stopped and asked to put my luggage in a special box.

And what is it? - the mustachioed guard marveled, seeing four heaps of unknown origin.

Money, - I answered proudly and unzipped (on the backpack).

In the shopping center, a machine was waiting for me with an inventive inscription: “Nowhere to put the change? Bring us to change." I looked around and, making sure that no one could see me, I took out the first bag. Money fell down the metal barrels like in a slot machine. And the inscription appeared on the screen: 190 rubles (where did the ten go, I’ll never know! I counted the coins several times). The commission amounted to 22 rubles 61 kopecks. And the net accrual: 167 rubles 39 kopecks. Then the machine offered to choose where to put them - on the phone or on the card. I chose the first one and entered the mobile phone number. The money came two hours later (and this is a minus). The terminal did not issue any receipt (and this is also a minus). My backpack has become a little lighter (and this is a plus).

By the way, I wouldn’t have been able to put my pennies on the card, because the minimum amount for transfer through the machine is 1000 rubles (money can go within three days, depending on the bank).

Then I looked into Sberbank on Novy Arbat and took out a second bag there. The girl in high heels glared at me and told me to get a ticket. Half an hour later I was called to the sixth room and immediately kicked back out.

But I had 30 minutes! During this time, I would have managed to build a pyramid out of them.

Five minutes later, the cashier ran my pennies through a machine that looked like a juicer and announced that she was ready to give me 200 rubles. I even smiled with happiness (Sberbank does not take any commission). You need to have your passport with you.

But with other banks, of which there are hundreds in Moscow, problems arose. In many departments, a trifle, in principle, does not change. And if they change, they take interest. For example, on the Arbat in the "Bank of Moscow" - this is 10% and at least 200 rubles (my entire next bag!). The same conditions at VTB Bank. And in Rosbank and Alfa there is no such service at all (apparently they don’t want to mess with clients like me).

P.S. During my trip, I felt like a hero of the famous comedy "Changers" directed by Georgy Shengelia. Only in the movie it was the other way around. Heroes rode around the Soviet Union and changed banknotes for a trifle. This made perfect sense. After the monetary reform of 1961, the denomination of banknotes was expected to be 10 times, but this did not concern kopecks.
