How to make a ball with a figurine inside. Where to put glass jars with lids. Making a Snow Globe from a Store-Bought Kit

On supermarket shelves you can find thousands of different New Year's trinkets and souvenirs. However, you don’t have to run to the store for a gift; you can make it yourself.

In this article we will suggest you to make a wonderful souvenir yourself - a ball of snow. It's not at all difficult to make. To do this you will need:

  • the basis for a ball with snow, it can be a purchased special container in the form of a glass ball, or a small beautiful jar (for example, from baby food);
  • distilled water;
  • glycerin (you can buy it at the pharmacy);
  • glue, preferably waterproof;
  • snow flakes or sparkles;
  • small figurines of Christmas trees, animals, snowmen or any other New Year-themed items. You can also create an original ball with a photograph inside, but before placing the photograph in the liquid it must first be laminated.

Now that all the components are ready, let's start creating a New Year's masterpiece.

1. To begin, make a composition of figures so that it fits on the lid and at the same time goes into the neck of the jar. Then glue it to the lid and let the glue dry.

2. After this, pour glitter into the jar. By the way, in addition to sparkles or snow, you can also place other floating objects (beads, stars or snowflakes) in the future water balloon with snow.

3. Then fill the jar with a mixture of glycerin and distilled water, taking into account the volume of the composition. After lowering the figures into the jar, the liquid in it should reach the edges, as a result, the jar should be completely filled.

5. Now you can decorate the base of the ball (lid) as you wish. For example, wrap it in a piece of fabric and tie it with a festive ribbon.

Your snow globe is ready, shake it and enjoy the magical spectacle.

Such a homemade ball can become a decoration for your interior or a wonderful souvenir for your guests. Also, making snow balls can be great fun for kids. Collect such a ball together with your child, and you will be pleased with the happy shining eyes of the child when he sees the result.

Snow globe- one of the most popular Christmas souvenirs around the world. Inside the glass toy there are usually some figures - snowmen, small Christmas trees, elegant houses or other traditional characters. Once you shake this simple composition, the fairy tale comes to life: artificial snow or the sparkles slowly swirl and gradually settle. like this interesting craft and a memorable gift can easily be made with your own hands and at home.

How to make a snow globe?

To snow globe It was bright, add sparkles, but not too small. If you are not sure about the quality of the sparkles, which may contain gold dust instead of small grains, then you can use regular tinsel, which is finely cut with ordinary scissors. You can also use artificial snow or beads.

You will also need:

  • figurine (any suitable size and that does not dissolve in water, you can even a laminated photograph or picture),
  • a beautiful jar with a well-closing lid (I used a half-liter one, but you can even use baby food jars, the main thing is to find a figurine that is the right size),
  • universal glue moment,
  • liquid glycerin at least 1/3 of the volume of the jar (the amount also depends on how slowly you want the “snow” to fall; the more glycerin, the slower. The main thing is not to overdo it, otherwise the “snow” will hang in the air all the time ),
  • water (either filtered, boiled, or distilled. If you take plain water from the tap, then over time your snow globe will become cloudy),
  • glue gun

If you are decorating a jar or making a decorative stand, like me, additionally prepare:

  • satin ribbons, decorative twigs, flowers, etc. for decorating a jar,
  • cardboard (but not hard),
  • scotch,
  • scissors,
  • self-adhesive film – gold,
  • PVA glue,
  • dry glitter - gold,
  • thin brush,
  • Well, and, already listed, a hot glue gun.

So let's get started!

Wash the jar, lid, figurine and all additional decorations well so that the water does not become cloudy over time. I treated everything with boiling water, as for preservation.

We fasten everything decorative elements to the lid with hot glue.

I have already used tinsel, sparkles and beads to imitate snow.

I'll tell you how to make a snow globe with sparkles, as there are some subtleties here. There are no such problems with tinsel and beads.

We take a clean jar, in my case a half-liter, and fill it with 150-250 ml of glycerin.

Fill the rest with water (we don’t fill the jar to the brim, because we still have a figurine that will fit in there, which will displace a certain amount of water).

Add glitter and mix with a clean spoon.

Even if the glitter is large, there are particles that did not settle to the bottom of the jar. We must definitely collect them, otherwise they will subsequently always float on top, and this, frankly speaking, does not look very good. This can be done with a small spoon or the tip of a clean waffle towel.

Now, very carefully, preferably over a plate, we immerse our composition in the jar, twist it a little so that there are no air bubbles anywhere. Screw the lid tightly. You need to try to close it so that there are no air bubbles left in the jar. Since we didn’t glue the lid inside, it can be remade if necessary.

When the cover is screwed on, you can walk along the joint from above for insurance. universal glue(if there is one, it can be waterproof). There have never been any problems with such jars, so the glue, in principle, only serves to secure the lid so that no one accidentally opens it.

Our snow globe is ready! Let's decorate it a little to hide all traces of the lid and jar.

You can make a durable stand from several strips of cardboard and cover it with gold self-adhesive film. The diameter is equal to the diameter of the cap. We decorate with all kinds of ribbons, twigs, it all depends on your desire and imagination!

I added a little sparkle curls and used them to hide the carvings on the bottom of the jar and all sorts of unnecessary numbers. To do this, dilute 1:1 water and PVA glue, generously add dry glitter to this mixture. I painted the curls with a regular thin brush.

And here's what I got!

And with flying sparkles...

This magical gift is sure to please both children and adults. Everyone will be mesmerized by the magic hidden behind the glass. Give each other joy and these wonderful snow globes, made by yourself, in which a piece of your soul and warmth is embedded!

I was glad to help!

Last year we bought my daughter shower gel, with a cute girl posing on the bottle. I don’t want to repeat myself, and besides, the very idea of a man-made winter is attractive, so I collected information from the Internet and today I am sharing it with readers. I planned to call the article “New Year’s ball with snow,” but I came to the conclusion that it was difficult to make one at home due to the lack of transparent balls. But cylindrical glass jars are in every kitchen, and it is they that craftswomen use to create homemade jewelry winter theme.

The figures are glued to the lid, dried, then “snow” is poured into a clean jar and filled to the top with “winter air”. All that remains is to connect the two parts of the product and conduct a test: whether snow falls, whether the contents leak out.

Which plot to choose for the craft?

Slender spruce trees look impressive in high jars, next to which children and animals walk; in low jars you can also place one item each: a snowman, Santa Claus, the animal symbol of the year, a resident of the North; tree, winter house, etc. Beautiful and touching Christmas compositions with angels and Christ's nurseries. Sometimes it is appropriate to use a background cut from a postcard. In order for the craft to acquire a complete design, it is worth decorating the lid-base: with paint, fabric, self-adhesive film, bright tape, a bow, or varnish.

What materials are needed for snow in a jar?

  • Actually a jar with a tight screw-on lid.
  • Small toys that are not afraid of moisture. Ideal - penguins, bears and princesses made from chocolate kinder eggs.
  • Supermoment glue for attaching toys to the lid.
  • Artificial snow or glitter, crushed rain, foam balls, grated white paraffin candle.
  • Transparent liquid filler. Filtered water, a mixture of water and glycerin, or pure glycerin from a pharmacy will do. The higher the density, the slower the snowflakes fall down - it’s more interesting.

What I wouldn't do

Photos with children's heads in jars give off a dismembered look, so I don't like this experiment. I don’t include pictures so as not to offend the authors of the crafts, but they are easy to find on the Internet. But the full-length figurine of a child against the background of a Christmas tree and under the snow looks very cute. They write that the photograph must first be laminated or generously covered with tape, but I’m not sure of absolute tightness, so I won’t risk it.

A transparent ball with snow can be a good competition craft for kindergarten or on New Year. Little children should explore this toy with their parents, because the can is not only fragile and dangerous, but also quite heavy.

How to make beautiful New Year's ball on a stand, you will learn from a very good video.

The whole family can make crafts on New Year and winter themes. This activity is exciting and will greatly unite the household. It’s frosty outside and the wind is shaking the trees, it’s cold and dark, and you’ve all gathered together at one table to create a small family masterpiece: magic jar with snow. In the warmth and comfort there is always something to talk about, both small and large. And you are also busy with useful work, the result of your efforts will only be a small miracle of yours. You can even feel like a wizard. A New Year's item will decorate the apartment and always remind you that you should get together like this more often. And, of course, all relatives will appreciate a family gift, because handmade things contain a piece of the soul.

What you will need for work:

A small jar with a screw cap.
A decorative plastic element such as a Christmas tree, a snowman, or any other product of a suitable theme.
Glycerol.
Glitter.
Tinsel.
Scissors.
Hot glue gun.

  • First of all, clear the jar of stickers and fill it exactly halfway with water.
  • Fill the remaining space of the jar with glycerin. We pour it heaped, so to speak.
  • Glue the product you have chosen to the lid of the jar; for example, let’s look at the Christmas tree. It is best to degrease the surfaces to be glued and make cuts for better adhesion. You can use other waterproof glue in your work.

  • Add glitter and small tinsel to water with glycerin. Close the jar tightly. If there are air bubbles, add water or glycerin. The lid must fit tightly to the jar. To be sure, you can put it on glue.

Young children will especially appreciate this. And you will spend many unforgettable and wonderful minutes in the company of your child. Good luck! Happy New Year!

DIY New Year's snow globe from a jar

You can very easily make a New Year's snow globe with your own hands from scrap materials. This is one of the most popular Christmas souvenirs all over the world. To decorate a souvenir, you can make some kind of figurine, for example, like here, a snowman. You can sculpt from any modeling mass, except salted dough, which dissolves in water

For work we will need:

glass jar with a tight-fitting lid, boiled or distilled water, glycerin solution; waterproof glue (two-component transparent waterproof epoxy glue, florist clay, aquarium sealant, glue gun in the form of silicone sticks), snow substitute (artificial snow, body glitter, crushed foam, broken eggshell, coconut flakes, white beads); various figurines made from chocolate eggs, homemade toys from polymer clay, various little things - to decorate a souvenir you can use anything except salted dough, which dissolves in water.

The inner surface of the jar must be washed and dried. Glue the prepared figures to the inside of the lid. If we need to use some metal parts, then they must first be coated with colorless nail polish - otherwise they risk corroding and ruining the craft.

Now we pour boiled water mixed with glycerin in a 1:1 ratio into the jar, but you can add more antifreeze - then the snow inside the dome will be very slow and “lazy”. Pour “snowflakes” from the selected material into this liquid, and if they fall too quickly, add more glycerin. After testing the snow is completed, we are left with the last step: screw the lid tightly and treat the joint with glue. When the craft is dry, you can turn it upside down and admire the result!
