LUNAR YEARS RULED BY THE MONKEY
1908, 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016

This is the most spoiled character of all the signs. Inconstancy, frivolity, cunning, craftiness, the ability to create a comfortable nest for yourself in any tree - these are the typical traits of this sign.

PERSONALITY

The monkey is often the life of the party. She has the most eccentric character of all the signs. She has her own humor, but she is always crafty and cunning. She is sociable, and, of course, creates the complete impression that she can get along well with all signs without exception. But this agreement is fleeting, superficial and just as... deceptive.

CHARACTERISTICS

NEGATIVE TRAITS: The monkey is uncontrollably selfish. She is playful, amiable, and very helpful, thereby trying to cover up her own opinion about others with her all-out display. But in fact, she just completely despises all other signs, considering herself absolutely superior to others. She's terribly vain.

POSITIVE TRAITS: The Monkey is a real erudite and very sophisticated intellectual. She has a great thirst for all kinds of knowledge and learning.

BEST ASSOCIATIONS

The Monkey reads a lot, knows many different interesting things, and is constantly aware of everything that is happening in his area, city, and world. A well-educated person has a phenomenal memory, which allows her to remember even the smallest, insignificant details of what she saw, read or heard somewhere, once.

ELEMENT

She is very dexterous for large-scale events, cunning in financial transactions, an excellent worker in all areas that require intelligence and awareness.

BALANCE

The monkey has too much common sense, an amazing knack for fooling people, the masses. She easily and naturally manages to make fun of even the dignified person of the dragon himself, who is powerful, hardy, dexterous and the wisest.

MAN

What does the Monkey want from all of us? Only one thing, so that they are not disturbed! To travel to distant countries, to open and close all sorts of symposiums, and in general, so that someone would simply listen to her advice and be amazed at her endless authority. Someone may object - Monkey men are no better than all other “animal men”. No, no, in some ways they are better. Monkeys are looking not only for a partner in their personal life, but also for a sponsor for their ambitious projects. After all, I really want to travel. The ideal option is an “animal” - a sponsor - a homebody. By the way, real Monkeys are often invited to work in banks and other jobs where the salary is decent. It happens that not a single important decision of their boss can be made without them.

WOMAN

Women born in the year of the Monkey are good at spending money. They have a broad soul and big plans. That's probably all. If your dream is traveling around the world, moving, a large apartment and a good appetite during meals, choose a woman born this year. She will live up to these hopes. Maybe not right away, but with your help...

What is needed for this? Always listen to her advice, and write down the smartest ones. When she forgets half of the advice, you will remind her of everything. If the Monkey strives to become a businesswoman (in accordance with international standards), they will pay special attention to her. She is certainly impressed by everything international, although not necessarily standard. So don’t waste time, learn foreign languages and comprehend foreign culture. Any person will be truly happy to have a relationship with such an educated person. Yes, you will be pleased too. The main thing is that your charming Monkey does not suddenly turn into... a vulgar baboon.

CHILD

He will then be able to receive not only primitive pleasures - from food, drink, beautiful and comfortable things, but also experience more subtle feelings: joy from music, books, successful work, communication with highly intelligent people. What could your child be sick with? First of all, any diseases associated with the throat and neck: tonsillitis, laryngitis, pharyngitis. In addition, there may be consequences of gluttony, diseases associated with blood contamination, and abscesses. The vitality of children of this type is high. How should you treat your child in order to achieve what you want without disturbing his inner balance? Don't rush him or push him. Never give him orders without explaining why he needs to do this and not another. Do not undermine the foundations of his security, never, even as a joke, tell him: “Leave home, since you are so bad.” He also should not have two houses, because, from his point of view, two houses are the same as none. What does your child need? In a peaceful and friendly environment. He, like no one else, must be sure that his home is his fortress. Well educated. He likes art, especially music. Calm music has a good effect on his nervous system. Give him the opportunity to express himself through art. He has the rare gift of combining beauty and usefulness in the right proportion.

AT HOME

It’s difficult to find her at home, even if you spend the night on the doorstep for a whole year. But there are still some exceptions... if the Monkey is at home - an endless barrage of music, falling on a neighbor at three or five o'clock in the morning, will force the smart ones to plug their own ears with traffic jams, and the stupid ones to call the police. But she is not a hindrance to real Monkeys, especially since suddenly a Monkey will also be among the law enforcement officers who arrive on call.

AT WORK

The monkey is independent and an individualist by nature. Being very diplomatic and cunning, the monkey can always get out of the most difficult situations.

SOME TYPICAL PROFESSIONS

Politics, diplomacy, commerce, industry are no secret to her. She can calmly take on everything, especially if she has a higher education. Often the Monkey achieves fame and glory if he follows his direct calling. Verbal outpourings should be avoided, which can certainly tire the people with whom the Monkey communicates at work. Despite some financial difficulties, she is generally in a good position, to say the least... better.

PREFERENCES

LOVES: From the outside, people of this year of birth sometimes seem genuinely serious and even dejected by their far-fetched problems. But all this is bluff and tinsel. And often our guesses turn out to be true. But the beauty is that the Monkeys’ love problems almost never end! Not right away, of course, but over the years her companions become convinced that there is no better option than the practical Monkey. If you are also slightly practical, but optimistic, moderately hardworking and completely free, this Monkey will be happy that you are in this world.

DOES NOT LOVE: Deep down, the Monkey despises all other signs and therefore considers himself superior to others. She's vain.

HORSE WITH MONKEY A Monkey is able to saddle a Horse and even ride it, but they will quickly get bored of each other

GOAT WITH MONKEY The mocking nature of the Monkey will not prevent it from falling as an unfortunate victim of an unquenchable passion for the cold and practical beauty of the Goat.

MONKEY WITH MONKEY A completely viable union of two loudmouths, revelers and scoffers. Soon they will scatter to different palm trees, which, however, will not prevent them from maintaining excellent relations with each other.

ROOSTER WITH MONKEY An excellent and quite stable combination of two diverse, but nevertheless very friendly creatures.

DOG WITH MONKEY One sign will bark constantly, calling for order, and the other will make faces at him from the Tall Palm. What kind of love can there be here?

PIG AND MONKEY Whoever becomes its companion, the monkey tends to have many children. She will be the leader in this union.

SEX

For a person born in the year of the Monkey, it makes sense to adore, pursue, seduce or rape her. The monkey chooses its own partner and only with him shows the depth of its feelings. With others she is cold, unapproachable, obstinate and dismissive. She is capricious and demanding; not everyone can adapt to her instability, passion and capriciousness. Communication with her requires a lot of patience. She is a polygamist, i.e. can have several partners at the same time and at the same time be faithful to them (!). She needs numerous partners and at the same time holds on to each of them devilishly tenaciously. She loves to tease those who are not interested in her from a sexual point of view. To those whom she chooses herself, she is able to give a great wealth of voluptuous pleasures, provided that the partners do not control her. She treats her body as a valuable instrument, intended exclusively for virtuosos. She likes to have sex for a long time and wherever she has to. Enjoying its individual phases in an atmosphere of complete liberation, always guided by the principle that sex is pleasure. She continues to remain aroused for several days. She is interested in primitive sex no less than super-intellectual sex!..

HEALTH

The first half of life does not bring the Monkey much trouble with his health. She is full of energy, youth and beauty, but then the former energy gives way to lethargy.

The arms, legs, head, as well as all other parts of the body in the second phase begin to seriously undermine the Monkey. Although, they say that if after 50 years you wake up and nothing hurts, then you have died...

LEISURE, INTERESTS

The sociable Monkey will never spend an extra penny to have fun at his own expense. But in this she is helped by numerous sponsors and simply well-wishers, who are no less than assistants. The monkey strives to travel around the whole world, ready to go everywhere, even under water.

“WATER MONKEY” IN THE AQUARIUM

Oscar Heinroth, a famous German ornithologist and researcher of animal behavior, called this unpretentious and funny amphibian a “water monkey.” Its popularity has become international: there is no pet store in Europe or the USA where these frogs are not exhibited. Little of! In America, they are sold in toy stores as a set along with simple aquarium accessories and a corresponding container under the slogan “Grow a frog!” For a child, this “education of feelings” is the first step towards understanding “cold-blooded” people and love for living nature. After all, very quickly this trusting frog begins to take food from tweezers or even from the owner’s hands. And relatively recently it was considered exotic: described in 1802, this native of tropical Africa won the hearts of aquarists and terrarium keepers at the end of the 19th century, when the “white spots” were erased from the map of the “Dark Continent”. To this day, these frogs are of interest to both scientists and connoisseurs of the “world behind glass.” So, we present the genus of clawed frogs (Xenopus).

For a long time they were kept for fun, until in 1931, South African scientists made an unexpected conclusion - if you inject the urine of a pregnant woman under the skin of a clawed frog, the frog, being unfertilized, will begin spawning within five hours, or at most a day later. Undoubtedly, she is encouraged to do this by the hormone already mentioned above - human chorionic gonadotropin. Doctors decided that the clawed frog could serve as an indicator for diagnosing the early stages of pregnancy, which are not amenable to direct observation. It further turned out that ordinary European toads are suitable for this purpose. Subsequently, much more advanced methods for diagnosing pregnancy appeared, but the African frog turned out to be an extremely convenient laboratory animal, in particular for cell cloning. According to the “Information Collection of the Eurasian Regional Association of Zoos and Aquariums” (Moscow, 2002), 32 living collections registered by this association contained three species of clawed frogs, of which one species, the smooth clawed frog, reproduced.

Genus Spur frogs (Xenopus) includes 14 species distributed in sub-Saharan Africa (east of Cameroon and further to Ethiopia and the southern tip of the continent).

One species, Cape clawed frog (X. gilli), included in the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) Red List.

The most popular is the smooth clawed frog. (Xenopus laevis), or plane tree. It has a stocky, squat build with a flattened body, muscular hind legs and a small flattened head. The muzzle is short and round, with small eyes having a round pupil. The eyelids are missing, as is the tongue. They don't have resonators either. However, males emit loud, rattling trills while swimming. The forelimbs are small - tiny, sensitive fingers lack swimming membranes. True, sexually mature males have dark “nuptial calluses” (brushes) on the inside of their paws. The hind limbs have well-developed membranes, and on the inside of three toes there is a black claw. Therefore the genus Xenopus translated means “strange leg.”

The frog's skin is translucent, but the color itself varies, for the most part it is multi-colored, from dark brown to olivedusky gray or greenish, often mottled with dark, irregular spots. The abdomen is cream or white, with a touch of yellow, occasionally with brown spots. Hobbyists willingly breed completely white albino frogs with red eyes.

The skin is heavily covered with mucus, which probably protects the frogs from infection and also repels possible predators, although they are non-venomous. Some believe that this secret acts as an allergen. As one biology popularizer writes, “...these frogs are so slippery lz-la mucous secretions of the skin, that during copulation the male cannot do without claws.” Let us add in parentheses that without “marriage brushes” too.

They must be handled delicately, first of all, this concerns their skin and fingers. When caring for them, you should not catch them with a net, because your fingers can be easily injured even when using a net with small cells.

Females are larger than males, the female reaches a length of 13 cm. The male is half the size and more graceful.

In addition to differences in size and “nuptial calluses,” the sex of these animals can be determined by examining the female’s cloaca, which resembles a pear. The clawed frog has well-developed lungs, as well as a “lateral line” system. These sides are, as they say, like “the hasty stitches of a careless tailor.”

It has been established that the sides of the clawed frog are equipped with receptors similar to pits. These pits are lined with microscopic hairs that react when the water moves: they are so sensitive that they allow even a blind frog to catch passing insects and their larvae, guided by the barely noticeable turbulence of the water caused by them. There are tactile tentacles under the eyes of the frog, and small teeth on the upper jaw. Leads a nocturnal lifestyle.

When the frog is not feeding or mating, it is quite inactive - it lies stretched out on the bottom of the aquarium or hides under stones.

This very aggressive (for aquatic life) species can be found (by the grace of amateurs) throughout the subtropical and tropical zone, but the “historical” homeland of the smooth clawed frog is fresh water bodies along the Great African Rift of the crust (from Kenya, Congo and Angola to South Africa). It can be found in slowly flowing rivers, lakes, ponds and swamps of savannas, semi-deserts and deserts. The frog adapts very quickly and easily to its new environment.

When clawed frogs were first released into waters in the United States, people quickly became convinced that these animals were causing some damage, as these “invaders” wiped out native frog species. Their populations are well known in Southern California (San Diego and Orange counties), Arizona, and possibly Colorado. In this regard, their acquisition is prohibited in California, and captivity is limited in other states.

Therefore, you need to know: under no circumstances should you release plane trees into local water bodies (this, of course, applies to the Far South of Russia). When bodies of water in Africa dry up, the smooth clawed frog burrows into the mud, forming a “capsule” at the bottom of a pond or lake, leaving a hole for “breathing.” Sometimes they can remain in summer hibernation for up to ten months.

Although frogs lead an exclusively aquatic lifestyle and practically never leave the water, they are able to migrate from pond to pond, especially after rain. In natural habitats they can be found in leftover puddles. Therefore, the aquarium with them should be covered with a grill, otherwise a frightened frog may jump out. Finding itself without water and the “capsule”, it will dry out quickly. If you cover the aquarium with a tight lid, you need to leave space for breathing - frogs breathe atmospheric air, and from time to time they swallow it. Therefore, the water level should range from 15 to 30 cm - high enough for frogs to dive and swim, but, on the other hand, low enough for them to float to the surface. In general, aquariums with a capacity of 40 to 80 liters are used to keep them. Do not fill the container with distilled water and do not place the aquarium in direct sunlight. During the day, frogs prefer moderate lighting.

They feel great in vessels of any design, but it is still better to imitate natural conditions. Large pebbles are suitable as a substrate so that the frogs do not swallow them along with food. If you use plants, it is best to use artificial ones: living algae will soon be dug up and damaged. Place several shelters in the volume, such as: flower pots cut lengthwise, fragments of stones or driftwood (fin).

Although these frogs naturally live in stagnant bodies of water, try to clean the aquarium as often as possible. Here opinions differ: what is better to use. Mechanical or electric filter or clean the aquarium manually? Some hobbyists believe that the constant noise disturbs the frogs. And others claim that they quickly get used to the filter’s operation and do not pay attention to it.

If you abandon the filter and limit yourself to light blowing, the water must be changed as soon as it becomes cloudy (after about 3-4 days).

For all aquatic species - spurs, pips, and others - water quality is very important. A regular filter does not remove nitrates or nitrites, so it is better to use a biological one. Use a dechlorinator or soak the water for 2-5 days. Metal ions are toxic to amphibians, so do not put anything metal in the water. When cleaning and washing the aquarium, do not use soap or other detergents.

The clawed frog is an inveterate predator, or rather a scavenger. She does not accept vegetarian food. Frogs are very voracious and eat everything. They hastily stuff their paws into the mouths of daphnia, tubifex, bloodworms, earthworms, pieces of meat, heart, liver and fish, live fry of aquarium fish and other trashy small fish (minnows and minnows), larvae of mealworms and wax moths, water insects, defrosted shrimp, krill, feed for aquarium fish and even feed used in fish farming.

More than once they noted how the frog pushed away pieces of liver or thin strips of raw meat with its paws, as if making it clear that it was already full. Try not to overfeed frogs. They are fed once a day, but after 10-15 minutes, uneaten food should be removed. If the diet is varied, vitamin or mineral supplements are not required.

Breeding frogs in captivity is as easy and simple as caring for them. Under natural conditions, they breed from September to December, usually after warm, heavy rainfalls, when the temperature of water bodies rises. But now this rhythm is disrupted (for example, frogs - Californian “immigrants” - breed from February to May), and in captivity they give birth four times a year. They are kept at temperatures from 23 °C to 27 °C with an optimum of 25 °C, although some fans display them at 18 °C. In any case, make sure that the temperature does not rise above 32 °C and does not fall below 10 °C. For two to three weeks, to stimulate mating behavior, it is enough to lower the temperature by 5-8 °C, and then increase it to optimal. During this period, it is advisable to seat the breeders, and plant them only during mating and spawning. The male emits a quiet calling “tik-tik” after half a second, but during mating the clicking sounds “ko-ko” are heard; they can be heard 100 m away. The male is on top, in the usual “girth” for toads and frogs. Mating and the process itself lasts about a day. The female is very fertile: she lays at least 200 bottom eggs (separately or in a small cluster) on algae and stones, but you can get 2,000-6,000 eggs from her per season.

Clawed frogs have interesting adaptations that ensure the success of fertilization. The eggs are about 3 mm in diameter, and they are surrounded by a transparent, sticky, gelatinous shell. Within a few hours, its outer layer hardens and becomes horn-like.

After mating, both “parents” are freed from the old covers. The molting process starts from the legs, moves to the mouth, and then the frogs simply swallow the dead skin.

The record total spawning total is 15,000 eggs. The incubation period is from one and a half to five days (depending on the water temperature). The larvae swim upside down, they have “cat” whiskers at the corners of their mouths, very similar to catfish fry. Manufacturers should be removed immediately. After two days they begin to feed. They are fed algae paste, plankton, scalded and pureed nettles. If green algae is rapidly developing in the aquarium, the tadpoles regularly filter them and clean the container, and the green water gradually becomes lighter.

As tadpoles mature, they switch from plant foods to animal foods (daphnia, cyclops and other small crustaceans). Given their cannibalistic tendencies, they should also be separated. Be careful not to overfeed tadpoles: excess food clogs their gills.

The volume of the aquarium for the growth of tadpoles is calculated based on 3 larvae per 1 liter of water. The entire transformation process (from egg to frog) lasts 1.5-2 months. Baby frogs are the size of a stamp. Sexual maturity of the smooth clawed frog occurs after 10-12 months; in captivity they live up to 15 years.

To summarize, it must be said that caring for clawed frogs is not difficult, as is purchasing food for them. The animal is extremely unpretentious, hardy and easy to keep. It's a real pleasure to watch them! You just can't pick them up. The only obstacle is that they are exclusively aquatic forms. All these caveats aside, the smooth clawed frog is an excellent choice for the beginner.

In addition to the well-known clawed frogs, hobbyists successfully keep and breed two more genera of Pipovs: dwarf clawed frogs (Hymenochirus) three species and false claws (Pseudohymenochirus) one type. All of them, like clawed frogs, are natives of Africa.

The most popular is Bettger's dwarf clawbearer. (Hymenochirus boettgeri). Very similar to the clawed frog, but has membranes on both front legs; the skin is rough, gray, with barely noticeable marble patterns, and its length reaches 4 cm. In the aquarium it emits clicking sounds. Inhabits water bodies of Western and Central Africa (Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Congo). Females, like many frogs, are larger and wider than males. The aquarium needs at least 15 liters, and its depth should not exceed 40 cm (water temperature 20 ° C-26 "C, with dH up to 15 ° and pH 6.5-7.5). Aeration is low, lighting is normal. The species reproduces all year round.

For breeding, they are kept under the same regime, but without soil and algae. Then they are separated, with a slight decrease in temperature (20 ° C) and a reduction in daylight hours. During the games, hymenochiruses marry, so selflessly that the eggs end up on the surface of the water. There are 400-500 eggs in a clutch, and the female lays them in portions - 12 eggs each. The egg diameter is 0.9 mm (this is the smallest egg among anurans). Hatching occurs within a day. The larvae begin to swim and feed after 4-5 days. The tadpoles are fed with “ciliate dust,” brine shrimp, and small cyclops. Adults eat bloodworms, tubifex, and cut earthworms. After one or two months, metamorphosis is completed.

Sexual maturity occurs at 10 months.
