Step-by-step recipe for making Chinese cabbage salad with ham. Salad with Chinese cabbage and ham Salad with Chinese cabbage and ham

Beijing cabbage differs from the usual white cabbage that we are used to seeing in our salads in that it is more tender. It can even replace leaf lettuce. Now this vegetable is available in all stores at any time of the year. “Beijing” has a rather neutral taste, so it is good to combine it with such bright ingredients as ham and sweet corn, which is what we will do today. I bring to your attention two salad recipes with detailed step-by-step photos, which can be prepared quickly both for every day and on holidays.

Salad with croutons, ham and Chinese cabbage

In my arsenal of recipes there are many simple recipes, from the series - opened, mixed, seasoned and served. The salad I’m going to talk about today is also from this series. The main thing is to choose the right ratio of products so that they are in harmony with each other and do not weigh down the dish. My family really likes it. Juicy, crispy Chinese cabbage, tender corn, hearty ham, all together - this is an “explosion of taste.” I cook and spoil my eaters from time to time. It's delicious for them, but it's nice for me. Try making this salad too. If you don't use mayonnaise, fill it with sour cream or natural thick yogurt.

Ingredients (for 2-3 servings):

  • Chinese cabbage: 2-3 leaves;
  • tomato – 1 piece;
  • canned corn – 3 tbsp;
  • ham – 70g;
  • crackers - a handful;
  • salt - to taste;
  • mayonnaise.

How to prepare this salad with croutons

As you can see, it cooks very quickly and the products are very affordable. Chinese cabbage is a storehouse of vitamins and goes well with all ingredients.

For me, the main and only rule when preparing salads is this: the products must be compatible with each other in terms of taste. A sense of proportion should prevail over the desire to mix everything and more. Taste buds, and even the chef’s intuition, will manifest itself during tasting - they will tell you what can and cannot be added to the salad.

The dish should be salted at the very end, or even better before serving. If you are using very tender greens, replace the salt with lemon juice.

Cook with your soul, and your creation will be not only beautiful, but also useful.

Recently, there has been more and more talk about the beneficial properties of Chinese cabbage, and nutritionists advise including it in the diet as often as possible. In addition, this product is quite nutritious and tasty, if, of course, it is prepared correctly. Today we are preparing a salad with Chinese cabbage and ham.

Juicy white-green heads of Chinese cabbage came to us from China. Hence the names “Beijing”, “Chinese” or “Petsai”. Cabbage has become widespread, and today it is difficult to imagine a store or market where it could not be found on the shelves. Chinese cabbage leaves are used to make salads, and heads of cabbage are added to soups, side dishes, dried, fermented and pickled.

The list of dishes where you can use Chinese cabbage is quite long. For example, I like to add it to red borscht instead of the usual white cabbage. But today I'll share with you three of my favorites. salads with ham, cheese and Chinese cabbage.

Salad with ham and Chinese cabbage

Kitchenware: cutting board; cutting knife; pot; deep bowl; grater.

Ingredients

How to choose Chinese cabbage

  • The main criterion for selection, as with any other vegetables, is freshness. Only crispy fresh petsai leaves will give the dish a unique taste. The leaves should not be limp, and the lighter their shade, the juicier the cabbage.
  • The head of cabbage should not be too soft or too hard. Preference should be given to medium-sized heads of cabbage. The leaves should be firm and dry to the touch.
  • Do not pick cabbage with signs of leaf rot, damage, mucus or moisture. If condensation has accumulated in the bag or film in which the head of cabbage is wrapped, it is also better not to take it. If the head of cabbage is large and the leaves are yellow, the product is overripe and will not be juicy.
