1. Students of the Iskitim branch of the Novosibirsk Assembly College - 17-year-old Nikita Miller and 20-year-old Vlad Volkov - managed to immobilize an armed raider who was trying to rob a grocery kiosk and hold him until the police arrived.
“We didn’t have any visitors, so we went into the back room for a couple of minutes to sort out the goods. Suddenly we heard the scales hit with something iron. We look out and there’s a man standing there with a gun. I screamed, of course, immediately and pressed the panic button. And just then the guys came in. This raider got scared and tried to run away.
But Nikita and Vlad didn’t let him escape: they knocked the criminal down near the kiosk and kept him there until the police, called by the panic button, arrived,” recalls seller Svetlana Adamova.
2. In the Chelyabinsk region, priest Alexey Peregudov saved the life of the groom at a wedding.
During the wedding, the groom lost consciousness. The only one who was not at a loss in this situation was Priest Alexey Peregudov. He quickly examined the man lying down, suspected cardiac arrest and provided first aid, including chest compressions. As a result, the sacrament was successfully completed.
Father Alexey noted that before this incident he had only seen chest compressions in movies.
3. An explosion unexpectedly occurred at one of the gas stations in the city of Kaspiysk. As it turned out later, a foreign car driving at high speed crashed into a gas tank and knocked down the valve.
To hesitate a little and the fire would have spread to nearby tanks with flammable fuel.
The situation was saved by Dagestani Arsen Fitzulaev, who prevented a disaster at a gas station by skillfully reducing the scale of the accident to a burnt-out car and several damaged vehicles. Later the guy realized that he was actually risking his life.
4. Schoolchildren from the Krasnodar region Roman Vitkov and Mikhail Serdyuk saved an elderly woman from a burning house.
Heading home, they saw a fire in a private house. Running into the yard, the schoolchildren saw that the veranda was almost completely engulfed in fire. Roman and Mikhail rushed into the barn to get a tool. Grabbing a sledgehammer and an ax, breaking out the window, Roman climbed into the window opening. An elderly woman was sleeping in a smoky room. The guys broke down the door and saved the woman.
5. Tuljak Alexander Ponomarev saved a man from a burning car.
The driver went on a regular trip - or rather, everything was as usual, if the man had not seen a burning car on the side of the road.
Alexander couldn’t just drive by like other drivers: he stopped, took a fire extinguisher and rushed to help. Knocked out the flame and tried to open it driver's door, but it turned out to be blocked while a person remained in the car.
“I broke out the side window and opened the door. The car continued to burn, but there was no time to put it out - it was necessary to save the person. He pulled the man out of the driver’s seat; he didn’t understand what was happening – he inhaled carbon monoxide,” Ponomarev said.
After dragging the victim to safe distance, Alexander called the dispatcher and she called rescuers to the scene of the fire and went out to meet them. And Ponomarev, in order not to waste time, took the stricken driver to the nearest hospital in his truck.
6. Pskov policeman Vadim Barkanov saved two men in a fire. While walking with his friend, Vadim saw smoke and flames escaping into one of the houses.
A woman ran out of the building and began to call for help, since two men remained in the apartment. Calling the firefighters, Vadim and his friend rushed to their aid. As a result, they managed to carry two unconscious men out of the burning building. The victims were taken by ambulance to the hospital, where they received the necessary medical care.
7. In Borisov, policeman Igor Pozdnyakov saved a child by removing him from the roof of a store.
32-year-old police officer Igor Poznyakov accidentally saw a one-and-a-half-year-old baby on the roof of a store: the boy was calmly walking along the edge of the roof, to which the apartment windows adjoin.
He himself talked about it this way: “I was with a colleague. I told him to stand near the roof for safety, and he ran into the entrance to the second floor. Mom opened the door, and I immediately ran to the window. He climbed through the window sill onto the roof and approached the child with the words: “Hello, buddy, come to me!” After that, he abruptly grabbed him in his arms - he didn’t even cry. By that time, people had already gathered on the street and were watching the baby. Mother, of course, was shocked. Imagine: from the roof to the ground about six meters.”
“When the doorbell rang, I was scared: “God forbid, my husband forgot to close the door and my son went outside!” A policeman stood on the threshold and ran to the window. I woke up and didn’t understand what happened. And when I saw that my son was on the roof, I was speechless. I was sleeping and didn’t even hear him wake up. It turned out that he rolled his bicycle up to the window, after which he climbed onto the windowsill and opened the window handle!” the baby’s mother shared with reporters.
The young mother is very grateful to the savior - the child’s walk on the roof could have turned into a tragedy.
8. Zalina Arsanova shielded her brother from bullets in Ingushetia.
The story took place at the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
In Ingushetia, this is the time when children congratulate friends and relatives on the holiday by coming to visit them. In a neighboring yard, an attempt was made on one of the FSB officers.
When the first bullet pierced the facade of the nearest house, the girl realized that it was shooting, and her younger brother was in the line of fire, and covered him with herself.
A girl with a gunshot wound was taken to Malgobekskaya clinical hospital No. 1, where she underwent surgery. Internal organs Surgeons had to assemble the 12-year-old child literally piece by piece, but both the girl and her brother remained alive.
9. A resident of the village of Yurmash (Bashkortostan), Rafit Shamsutdinov, saved two children in a fire.
Fellow villager Rafita lit the stove and went to school with her older children, leaving her three-year-old daughter and one-and-a-half-year-old son at home.
For some reason, a fire started. Rafit Shamsutdinov noticed smoke from the burning house. Despite the abundance of smoke, he managed to enter the burning room and carry out both children.
10. While resting after his shift, a firefighter from Bely Yar carried a woman and her baby out of the fire.
It seems like an ordinary everyday story for firefighters - saving people from burning houses. But Ivan Morozov had a day off that day - the guy and his friend worked a daily shift and went out at night to “ride around the village.”
From under the roof of one of two-story houses Vanya saw thick smoke coming out - and the first thing he did was dial 112, calling fire department. But then the veranda caught fire and Ivan rushed to the house so that help could arrive on time. The fireman knocked down the door and immediately saw a woman on the floor.
“She sat as if in oblivion, and covered herself from the smoke with her hand. The door had already caught fire by that time, so I evacuated it through the window. In the process, he asked if there was anyone else at home, and she said that her son was sleeping on the second floor,” the hero recalls.
The fireman, as he was - in only a T-shirt, without a protective suit, as is required in such cases - rushed upstairs to look for the boy. He was sleeping, so Ivan easily picked him up, went down and handed him through the window to his mother.

Almost every day in our lives there is a place for heroism. Most often they are committed by military personnel, rescuers, and police officers. To whom it is due due to duty. But they are not the only ones who risk their lives to save others.
You often hear grumbling about the topic: the people have become smaller, the people have become completely different, there are no men left at all. Well, then everything, as the classic wrote: “yes, there were people in our time...” Since the time of Lermontov, little has changed: “You are not heroes...”, other accusations against these modern handsome young men in skinny trousers and young men in stylish jackets on shiny cars. Looking fashionable and even glamorous. And looking at them, one can really doubt: why should they become heroes? They have more perfumes and cosmetics than any beauty. And, unfortunately, we will be wrong in our doubts.
Why, unfortunately? Yes, because we really want there to be no room for heroic deeds in our lives. Because heroic deeds often have to be performed by one, because of the negligence and carelessness of others.
From this, however, surprise and admiration modern heroes it doesn't get any smaller. Just as there are no fewer heroes themselves who are ready to sacrifice themselves for the sake of others. Here are the most striking examples of this.
1. A real colonel
This is the biggest story right now. In the Urals, the colonel covered with himself a grenade that a soldier accidentally dropped. This happened in military unit 3275 in the city of Lesnoy Sverdlovsk region during the exercise on September 25. The sergeant was apparently confused or lost in thought; there is even talk that the night before he had been playing computer games and didn’t get enough sleep, so I couldn’t hold the grenade with the pin pulled out. She rolled on the ground. The soldiers froze in horror. In general, you can imagine these terrible moments. Only the unit commander, 41-year-old Colonel Serik Sultangabiev, was not at a loss. Without hesitation for a second, he rushed to RGD-5. And the next moment there was an explosion.
None of the soldiers, fortunately, were injured. The colonel was urgently taken to the hospital, where medical teams operated on Serik Sultangabiev for 8 hours straight. As a result, the officer lost his left eye and two fingers right hand. The bulletproof vest saved his life.
Now Colonel Serik Sultangabiev has been presented with the Order of Courage. The documents necessary for this have already been sent to Moscow by the Ural command of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
2. Solnechnikov’s feat
Of course, when talking today about Sultangabiev’s feat, he is immediately compared with the feat of another officer - Sergei Solnechnikov. Major from the city of Belogorsk, Amur Region. Became a Hero of Russia posthumously. He also covered a grenade that one of his soldiers dropped during a training exercise. An explosion occurred and the officer received numerous injuries. An hour and a half later, he died on the operating table of a military hospital. The wounds turned out to be incompatible with life. So the major, at the cost of his own life, saved hundreds of his subordinates. I did it without hesitation. Last August he would have turned only 34 years old. In honor of Major Sergei Solnechnikov, both in his hometown of Volzhsk and in Belogorsk, where he served, monuments are erected and streets are named in his honor.
3. Saved 300 people
Another hero, who was remembered at the end of September in his native Buryatia and talked about raising funds for the construction of a monument in his honor, has not yet received such an honor. Aldar Tsydenzhapov, a sailor of the Russian Pacific Fleet, died in the fall of 2010 while serving on the destroyer Bystry. Aldar, at the cost of his life, prevented major accident on a warship, saved the ship itself and 300 crew members from death. The 19-year-old guy received the title of Hero posthumously...
4. A ship in honor of a hero
And in Irkutsk region At the end of September, a ship named after the hero-rescuer: “Vitaly Tikhonov” was launched. The completely restored ship was named in honor of the tragically deceased deputy head of the Baikal search and rescue team. Vitaly Vladimirovich died during training camps. He spent 25 years rescuing people, participated in more than 500 search operations, and saved more than 200 people. It was not possible to save him...
These feats can hardly be forgotten. Although people, it would seem, died while serving, which in general itself is associated with all sorts of risks. But even in everyday life We are lucky to have heroes.
5. Hollywood is taking a break
The other day, the head of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Kaluga Region, Sergei Bachurin, presented traffic police inspector Evgeniy Vorobyov with a valuable gift and thanked his mother Valentina Semyonovna.

How did Vorobyov distinguish himself? After that, the policeman pulled the drunk driver out of the car and tied him up. Agree, such scenes can only be seen in Hollywood action films, and all the stunts are performed by well-trained stuntmen. Meanwhile, this was done by a simple traffic police officer.
6. In honor of a fellow countryman and a real Cossack
These days, people in the Volgograd region are remembering their heroic fellow countryman. At the end of September, a monument to the Cossack Ruslan Kazakov was erected on the Nagolny farm, Kotelnikovsky district, Volgograd region. He himself voluntarily went to Simferopol to ensure order during the referendum on the status of Crimea, to ensure order there.
Kazakov served as part of a local Cossack self-defense unit. On March 18, he was patrolling the territory of a military unit. At that moment, his young colleague, an 18-year-old guy, was shot in the leg by a sniper. Seeing that the younger comrade had fallen, Ruslan Kazakov rushed to him and covered him with his body. And he was immediately killed by the next shot. Posthumously Ruslan Kazakov was awarded the Order of Courage. A monument was erected in his honor in his homeland.
7. Hero-traffic cop
A traffic police officer from Saratov, risking his life, blocked the path of an out-of-control truck.
Police lieutenant, traffic police regiment inspector for Saratov Daniil Sultanov stood at the intersection. The prohibitory traffic light came on. And suddenly Daniil saw an out-of-control truck rushing down the road, hitting cars and unable to stop on its own. Then Daniel blocked his way with his car and thus stopped the speeding truck, which was sweeping away everything in its path. Daniel was able to save a dozen lives. The traffic police inspector himself escaped with a concussion.
In total, 12 cars and 4 people were injured in the accident. The incident could have ended in a terrible tragedy if not for the heroism of Daniil Sultanov.
No one in the country keeps special statistics, but if there were, it would probably become clear how many people, thanks to heroes, continue to live. Someone was rescued from a fire, someone was pulled out of a pond. These people always come to help themselves, they are not called or asked for it. And not only in our country. Recently in Saratov, father and son Osherov, both named Sergei, and Alexander Dubrovin were awarded. While on vacation in Israel, three residents of Saratov saved a drowning mother and child and a woman. For which they were awarded medals. If not for them, mother and son would have died.
These are our contemporaries. And no matter how much psychologists tell us that sacrificing ourselves for the sake of others is not right. That you need to live solely for your own sake, there are those for whom this rule is simply unacceptable. And they, without hesitation, cover the other...

Before the war, these were the most ordinary boys and girls. They studied, helped their elders, played, raised pigeons, and sometimes even took part in fights. But the hour of difficult trials came and they proved how huge an ordinary little child’s heart can become when a sacred love for the Motherland, pain for the fate of one’s people and hatred for enemies flares up in it. And no one expected that it was these boys and girls who were capable of accomplishing a great feat for the glory of the freedom and independence of their Motherland!
Children left in destroyed cities and villages became homeless, doomed to starvation. It was scary and difficult to stay in enemy-occupied territory. Children could be sent to a concentration camp, taken to work in Germany, turned into slaves, made donors for German soldiers, etc.
Here are the names of some of them: Volodya Kazmin, Yura Zhdanko, Lenya Golikov, Marat Kazei, Lara Mikheenko, Valya Kotik, Tanya Morozova, Vitya Korobkov, Zina Portnova. Many of them fought so hard that they earned military orders and medals, and four: Marat Kazei, Valya Kotik, Zina Portnova, Lenya Golikov, became Heroes of the Soviet Union.
From the first days of the occupation, boys and girls began to act at their own risk, which was truly fatal.
"Fedya Samodurov. Fedya is 14 years old, he is a graduate of a motorized rifle unit, commanded by Guard Captain A. Chernavin. Fedya was picked up in his homeland, in a destroyed village in the Voronezh region. Together with the unit, he took part in the battles for Ternopil, with machine-gun crews he kicked the Germans out of the city. When almost the entire crew was killed, the teenager, together with the surviving soldier, took up the machine gun, firing long and hard, and detained the enemy. Fedya was awarded the medal "For Courage".
Vanya Kozlov, 13 years old,he was left without relatives and has been in a motorized rifle unit for two years now. At the front, he delivers food, newspapers and letters to soldiers in the most difficult conditions.
Petya Zub. Petya Zub chose an equally difficult specialty. He decided long ago to become a scout. His parents were killed, and he knows how to settle accounts with the damned German. Together with experienced scouts, he gets to the enemy, reports his location by radio, and the artillery, at their direction, fires, crushing the fascists." ("Arguments and Facts", No. 25, 2010, p. 42).
A sixteen year old schoolgirl Olya Demesh with her younger sister Lida At the Orsha station in Belarus, on the instructions of the commander of the partisan brigade S. Zhulin, fuel tanks were blown up using magnetic mines. Of course, girls attracted much less attention from German guards and policemen than teenage boys or adult men. But the girls were just right to play with dolls, and they fought with Wehrmacht soldiers!
Thirteen-year-old Lida often took a basket or bag and went to the railway tracks to collect coal, obtaining intelligence about German military trains. If the guards stopped her, she explained that she was collecting coal to heat the room in which the Germans lived. Olya’s mother and little sister Lida were captured and shot by the Nazis, but Olya continued to fearlessly carry out the partisans’ tasks.
The Nazis promised a generous reward for the head of the young partisan Olya Demesh - land, a cow and 10 thousand marks. Copies of her photograph were distributed and sent to all patrol officers, policemen, wardens and secret agents. Capture and deliver her alive - that was the order! But they failed to catch the girl. Olga destroyed 20 German soldiers and officers, derailed 7 enemy trains, conducted reconnaissance, participated in the “rail war”, and in the destruction of German punitive units.
Children of the Great Patriotic War
What happened to the children during this terrible time? During the war?
The guys worked for days in factories, factories and factories, standing at the machines instead of brothers and fathers who had gone to the front. The children also worked defense enterprises: made fuses for mines, fuses for hand grenades, smoke bombs, colored flares, collected gas masks. Worked in agriculture, grew vegetables for hospitals.
In school sewing workshops, pioneers sewed underwear and tunics for the army. The girls knitted warm clothes for the front: mittens, socks, scarves, and sewed tobacco pouches. The guys helped the wounded in hospitals, wrote letters to their relatives under their dictation, staged performances for the wounded, organized concerts, bringing a smile to war-weary adult men.
A number of objective reasons: teachers leaving for the army, evacuation of the population from western to eastern regions, inclusion of students in labor activity in connection with the family's breadwinners leaving for the war, the transfer of many schools to hospitals, etc., prevented the deployment in the USSR during the war of universal seven-year compulsory education, which began in the 30s. In the remaining educational institutions training was carried out in two, three, and sometimes four shifts.
At the same time, the children were forced to store firewood for the boiler houses themselves. There were no textbooks, and due to a shortage of paper, they wrote on old newspapers between the lines. Nevertheless, new schools were opened and additional classes were created. Boarding schools were created for evacuated children. For those youth who left school at the beginning of the war and were employed in industry or agriculture, schools for working and rural youth were organized in 1943.
There are still many little-known pages in the chronicles of the Great Patriotic War, for example, the fate of kindergartens. “It turns out that in December 1941, in besieged MoscowKindergartens operated in bomb shelters. When the enemy was repulsed, they resumed their work faster than many universities. By the fall of 1942, 258 kindergartens had opened in Moscow!
From the memories of Lydia Ivanovna Kostyleva’s wartime childhood:
“After the death of my grandmother, I was assigned to kindergarten, older sister at school, mother at work. I went to kindergarten alone, by tram, when I was less than five years old. Once I got seriously ill with mumps, I was lying at home alone with high temperature, there was no medicine, in my delirium I imagined a piglet running under the table, but everything turned out okay.
I saw my mother in the evenings and on rare weekends. The children were raised on the street, we were friendly and always hungry. From early spring, we ran to the mosses, fortunately there were forests and swamps nearby, and collected berries, mushrooms, and various early grasses. The bombings gradually stopped, Allied residences were located in our Arkhangelsk, this brought a certain flavor to life - we, the children, sometimes received warm clothes and some food. Mostly we ate black shangi, potatoes, seal meat, fish and fish oil, and on holidays we ate “marmalade” made from algae, tinted with beets.”
More than five hundred teachers and nannies dug trenches on the outskirts of the capital in the fall of 1941. Hundreds worked in logging operations. The teachers, who just yesterday were dancing with the children in a round dance, fought in the Moscow militia. Natasha Yanovskaya, a kindergarten teacher in the Baumansky district, died heroically near Mozhaisk. The teachers who stayed with the children did not perform any heroic deeds. They simply saved children whose fathers were fighting and whose mothers were at work.
Most kindergartens became boarding schools during the war; children were there day and night. And in order to feed children in half-starvation, protect them from the cold, give them at least a modicum of comfort, occupy them with benefit for the mind and soul - such work required great love for children, deep decency and boundless patience." Children's games have changed, "... new game- to the hospital. Hospital has been played before, but not like this. Now the wounded are real people for them. But they play war less often, because no one wants to be a fascist. Trees perform this role for them. They shoot snowballs at them. We learned to provide assistance to victims - those who fell, were hurt."
From a boy’s letter to a front-line soldier: “We used to often play war, but now much less often - we’re tired of the war, it would sooner end so that we could live well again...” (Ibid.).
Due to the death of their parents, many homeless children appeared in the country. The Soviet state, despite the difficult wartime, still fulfilled its obligations to children left without parents. To combat neglect, a network of children's reception centers and orphanages was organized and opened, and employment of teenagers was organized.
Many families of Soviet citizens began to take in orphans to raise them., where they found new parents. Unfortunately, not all teachers and heads of children's institutions were distinguished by honesty and decency. Here are some examples.
"In the autumn of 1942, in the Pochinkovsky district of the Gorky region, children dressed in rags were caught stealing potatoes and grain from collective farm fields. It turned out that the pupils of the district orphanage. And they did this not at all out of a good life. Upon further investigation, local police discovered a criminal group, or, in fact, a gang, consisting of employees of this institution.
In total, seven people were arrested in the case, including the director of the orphanage Novoseltsev, accountant Sdobnov, storekeeper Mukhina and other persons. During the searches, 14 children's coats, seven suits, 30 meters of cloth, 350 meters of textiles and other illegally appropriated property, allocated with great difficulty by the state during this harsh wartime, were confiscated from them.
The investigation established that by not delivering the required quota of bread and food, these criminals stole seven tons of bread, half a ton of meat, 380 kg of sugar, 180 kg of cookies, 106 kg of fish, 121 kg of honey, etc. during 1942 alone. The orphanage workers sold all these scarce products on the market or simply ate them themselves.
Only one comrade Novoseltsev received fifteen portions of breakfast and lunch every day for himself and his family members. The rest of the staff also ate well at the expense of the pupils. The children were fed “dishes” made from rotten vegetables, citing poor supplies.
For the entire 1942, they were only given one piece of candy once for the 25th anniversary of the October Revolution... And what is most surprising, the director of the orphanage Novoseltsev in the same 1942 received a certificate of honor from the People's Commissariat of Education for excellent educational work. All these fascists were deservedly sentenced to long terms of imprisonment.
At such a time, the whole essence of a person is revealed.. Every day we face a choice - what to do.. And the war showed us examples of great mercy, great heroism and great cruelty, great meanness.. We must remember this!! For the sake of the future!!
And no amount of time can heal the wounds of war, especially children’s wounds. “These years that once were, the bitterness of childhood does not allow one to forget...”
The names of this year's heroes that should not be forgotten
They say that there were too many tragic events in the past year, and there was almost nothing good to remember on the eve of the New Year. Constantinople decided to argue with this statement and collected a selection of our most outstanding compatriots (and not only) and their heroic deeds. Unfortunately, many of them accomplished this feat at the cost of their own lives, but the memory of them and their actions will support us for a long time and serve as an example to follow. Ten names that made a splash in 2016 and should not be forgotten.
Alexander Prokhorenko
A special forces officer, 25-year-old Lieutenant Prokhorenko, died in March near Palmyra while carrying out missions to direct Russian air strikes against ISIS militants. He was discovered by terrorists and, finding himself surrounded, did not want to surrender and drew fire on himself. He was awarded the title of Hero of Russia posthumously, and a street in Orenburg was named after him. Prokhorenko’s feat aroused admiration not only in Russia. Two French families donated awards, including the Legion of Honor.

In Orenburg, where the officer is from, he left behind a young wife, who, after the death of Alexander, had to be hospitalized in order to save the life of their child. In August, her daughter Violetta was born.
Magomed Nurbagandov
A policeman from Dagestan, Magomet Nurbagandov, and his brother Abdurashid were killed in July, but the details became known only in September, when a video of the execution of police officers was found on the phone of one of the liquidated militants of the Izberbash criminal group. On that ill-fated day, the brothers and their relatives, schoolchildren, were relaxing outdoors in tents; no one expected an attack by bandits. Abdurashid was killed immediately because he stood up for one of the boys, whom the bandits began to insult. Mohammed was tortured before his death because his employee documents were found law enforcement agencies. The purpose of the bullying was to force Nurbagandov to renounce his colleagues on record, recognize the strength of the militants and call on Dagestanis to leave the police. In January of this year, during a severe snowstorm, a dangerous traffic jam formed on the Orenburg-Orsk highway, in which hundreds of people were trapped. Ordinary employees of various services showed heroism, leading people out of icy captivity, sometimes putting their own lives at risk. Russia remembers the name of policeman Danil Maksudov, who was hospitalized with severe frostbite because he gave his jacket, hat and gloves to those who needed it most. After that, Danil spent several more hours in the snowstorm helping to get people out of the jam. Then Maksudov himself ended up in the emergency traumatology department with frostbitten hands; they were talking about amputating his fingers. However, the policeman eventually recovered.

" It seems to me that in my place any teenager would do this, but not every adult, because adults are much more indifferent than children", says the girl. Concerned residents of Staraya Russa collected money and gave the girl a computer and a souvenir - a mug with her photo. Every day in Russia, ordinary citizens perform feats and do not pass by when someone needs help. A country should know its heroes, so this selection is dedicated to brave, caring people who have proven by deeds that heroism has a place in our lives.
1. An unusual incident with a miraculous rescue occurred in the city of Lesnoy. A 26-year-old engineer named Vladimir Startsev saved a two-year-old girl who fell from a fourth-floor balcony.
“I was returning from the sports ground, where I was training with children. “I saw some kind of pandemonium,” Startsev recalls. “People under the balcony were fussing, shouting something, waving their arms. I raise my head up, and there is a little girl, with her last strength, grabbing onto the outer edge of the balcony.” Here, according to Vladimir, he developed the climber’s syndrome. Moreover, the athlete has been practicing sambo and rock climbing for many years. My physical form allowed it. He assessed the situation and intended to climb the wall to the fourth floor.
“I’m already prepared to jump onto the first floor balcony, I look up, and the child is flying down! I instantly regrouped and relaxed my muscles to catch it. We were taught this way during training,” says Vladimir Startsev. “She landed right in my arms, cried, of course, she was scared.”
2. It happened on August 15th. That day, my sister and nephews and I came to the river to swim. Everything was fine - heat, sun, water. Then my sister says to me: “Lesha, look, a man has drowned, there, he’s floating past. The drowned man was carried away by the fast current, and I had to run about 350 meters until I caught up with him. And our river is mountainous, there are cobblestones, while I was running, I fell several times, but I got up and continued running, and barely overtook him. 
The drowned man turned out to be a child. The face shows all the signs of a drowned person - an unnaturally swollen belly, a bluish-black body, swollen veins. I didn't even understand if it was a boy or a girl. He pulled the child ashore and began pouring water out of him. The stomach, the lungs - everything was filled with water, the tongue kept sinking. I asked for a towel next to me standing people. No one served, they were disdainful, they were afraid of the girl’s appearance, and they spared their beautiful towels for her. And I'm wearing nothing but swimming trunks. Because of the fast running, and while I was pulling her out of the water, I was exhausted, there was not enough air for artificial respiration.
About resuscitation
Thank God, my colleague, nurse Olga, was passing by, but she was on the other side. She started screaming for me to bring the child to her shore. The child, who swallowed water, became incredibly heavy. The men responded to the request to take the girl to the other side. There Olga and I continued all resuscitation efforts. They drained the water as best they could, performed cardiac massage, artificial respiration, but for 15-20 minutes there was no reaction, neither from the girl nor from the onlookers standing nearby. I asked to call an ambulance, no one called, and the ambulance station was nearby, 150 meters away. Olga and I couldn’t afford to be distracted even for a second, so we couldn’t even call. After some time, a boy was found and he ran to call for help. In the meantime, we were all trying to revive a little girl, five years old. Out of despair, Olga even began to cry; it seemed that there was no hope. Everyone around said, stop these useless attempts, you will break all her ribs, why are you mocking the dead man. But then the girl sighed, and the nurse who came running heard the sounds of a heartbeat.
3. A third grader saved three young children from a burning hut. For his heroism, 11-year-old Dima Filyushin was almost flogged at home. 
... On the day when a fire broke out on the outskirts of the village, twin brothers Andryusha and Vasya and five-year-old Nastya were alone at home. Mom left for work. Dima was returning from school when he noticed flames in the neighbors' windows. The boy looked inside - the curtains were on fire, and three-year-old Vasya was sleeping next to him on the bed. Of course, the schoolboy could have called the rescue service, but without hesitation, he rushed to save the kids himself.
4. A young 17-year-old girl from Zarechny, Marina Safarova, became a real hero. The girl used a sheet to pull the fishermen, her brother, and the snowmobile out of the hole. 
Before the onset of spring, the young people decided to last time visit the Sursky Reservoir, in the Penza region, and after that “give up” until next year, since the ice is no longer as reliable as it was a month ago. Without going far, the guys left the car on the shore, and they themselves moved 40 meters from the edge and drilled holes. While her brother was fishing, the girl drew sketches of the landscape, and after a couple of hours she froze and went to warm up in the car, and at the same time warm up the engine.
Under the weight of the motorized equipment, the ice could not stand it and broke in the places where the holes were drilled, like after a hammer drill. People began to drown, the snowmobile hung on the edge of the ice by its ski, this entire structure threatened to break off completely, then people would have had very little chance of salvation. The men clung with all their strength to the edge of the ice hole, but their warm clothes immediately got wet and literally pulled them to the bottom. In this situation, Marina did not think about the possible danger and rushed to the rescue.
Having grabbed her brother, the girl, however, was unable to help him in any way, since the ratio of the forces of our heroine and the superior mass turned out to be too unequal. Run for help? But not a single living soul is visible in the area, only a company of the same fishermen can be seen on the horizon. Go to the city for help?
So while time passes, people may simply drown from hypothermia. Thinking like this, Marina intuitively ran to the car. Having opened the trunk in search of an item that could help in the situation, the girl noticed a bag with bed linen, which she picked up from the laundry. - The first thing that came to mind was to twist a rope out of sheets, tie it to the car and try to pull them out. – Marinochka remembers
The pile of laundry was enough for almost 30 meters, it could have been longer, but the girl tied the improvised cable with double calculation.
“I’ve never braided braids so quickly,” the rescuer laughs, “in about three minutes I braided about thirty meters, this is a record.” The girl risked driving the remaining distance to the people on the ice.
- Near the shore it is still very strong, I slid onto the ice and slowly drove backwards. She opened the door just in case and drove off. The cable made from the sheets turned out to be so strong that in the end they pulled out not only people, but also a snowmobile. After the rescue operation was completed, the men took off their clothes and climbed into the car.
- I don’t even have a license yet, I took it, but I’ll get it only in a month, when I turn 18. While I was driving them home, I was worried that traffic cops would suddenly come across me, and I would have no license, although in theory they would have let me go, or helped me take everyone home.
5. Little hero of Buryatia - this is how 5-year-old Danila Zaitsev was dubbed in the republic. This little boy saved his older sister Valya from death. When the girl fell into the wormwood, her brother held her for half an hour so that the current would not pull Valya under the ice. 
When the boy’s hands were cold and tired, he grabbed his sister’s hood with his teeth and did not let go until his neighbor, 15-year-old Ivan Zhamyanov, came to the rescue. The teenager was able to pull Valya out of the water and carried the exhausted and frozen girl in his arms to his home. There the child was wrapped in a blanket and given hot tea.
Having learned about this story, the leadership of the local school turned to the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations with a request to reward both boys for their heroic deed.
6. 35-year-old resident of Uralsk Rinat Fardiev was repairing his car when he suddenly heard a loud knock. Running to the scene of the incident, he saw a sinking car and, without thinking twice, rushed into the icy water and began to pull out the victims. 
“At the scene of the accident, I saw the confused driver and passengers of the VAZ, who in the darkness could not understand where the car they crashed into had gone. Then I followed the tracks of the wheels down and found the Audi upside down in the river. I immediately entered the water and began to pull people out of the car. First I took out the driver and the passenger who was sitting in the front seat, and then the two passengers in the back seat. They were already unconscious at that time.”
Unfortunately, one of the people saved by Rinat did not survive - a 34-year-old passenger in the Audi died from hypothermia. Other victims were hospitalized and have now been discharged. Rinat himself works as a driver and does not see any special heroism in his action. “Even at the scene of the accident, the traffic cops told me that they would decide on my promotion. But from the very beginning I did not seek publicity or receive any awards; the main thing was that I managed to save people,” he said.
7. A Saratovite who pulled two little boys out of the water: “I thought that I didn’t know how to swim. But when I heard the screams, I immediately forgot about everything.” 
Heard screams local resident, 26-year-old Vadim Prodan. Running up to concrete slabs, he saw Ilya drowning. The boy was 20 meters from the shore. The man, without wasting time, rushed to save the boy. In order to pull the child out, Vadim had to dive several times - but when Ilya appeared from under the water, he was still conscious. On the shore, the boy told Vadim about his friend, who was no longer visible.
The man returned to the water and swam towards the reeds. He began to dive and look for the child, but he was nowhere to be seen. And suddenly Vadim felt his hand catch on something - diving again, he found Misha. Grabbing him by the hair, the man pulled the boy ashore, where he performed artificial respiration. A few minutes later Misha regained consciousness. A little later, Ilya and Misha were taken to the Ozinsk Central Hospital.
“I always thought to myself that I didn’t know how to swim, just to stay on the water a little,” Vadim admits, “But as soon as I heard the screams, I immediately forgot about everything, and there was no fear, there was only one thought in my head - I need to help.”
While saving the boys, Vadim hit a piece of reinforcement lying in the water and suffered a leg injury. Later at the hospital he received several stitches.
8. Schoolchildren from the Krasnodar region Roman Vitkov and Mikhail Serdyuk saved an elderly woman from a burning house. 
While heading home, they saw a building on fire. Running into the yard, the schoolchildren saw that the veranda was almost completely engulfed in fire. Roman and Mikhail rushed into the barn to get a tool. Grabbing a sledgehammer and an ax, breaking out the window, Roman climbed into the window opening. An elderly woman was sleeping in a smoky room. They managed to get the victim out only after breaking the door.
9. And in the Chelyabinsk region, priest Alexey Peregudov saved the life of the groom at a wedding. 
During the wedding, the groom lost consciousness. The only one who was not at a loss in this situation was Priest Alexey Peregudov. He quickly examined the man lying down, suspected cardiac arrest and provided first aid, including chest compressions. As a result, the sacrament was successfully completed. Father Alexey noted that he had only seen chest compressions in movies.
10. A veteran distinguished himself in Mordovia Chechen war Marat Zinatullin, who saved an elderly man from a burning apartment. 
Having witnessed the fire, Marat acted like a professional firefighter. He climbed up the fence onto a small barn, and from there climbed onto the balcony. He broke the glass, opened the door leading from the balcony to the room, and got inside. The 70-year-old owner of the apartment was lying on the floor. The pensioner, who was poisoned by smoke, could not leave the apartment on his own. Marat, opening front door from the inside, carried the owner of the house into the entrance.
11. An employee of the Kostroma colony, Roman Sorvachev, saved the lives of his neighbors in a fire. 
Entering the entrance of his house, he immediately identified the apartment from which the smell of smoke was coming. The door was opened by a drunk man who assured that everything was fine. However, Roman called the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Rescuers who arrived at the scene of the fire were unable to enter the premises through the door, but entered the apartment through a narrow window frame The uniform of the Ministry of Emergency Situations employee did not allow it. Then Roman climbed up the fire escape, entered the apartment and pulled out an elderly woman and an unconscious man from a heavily smoky apartment.
12. Resident of the village of Yurmash (Bashkortostan) Rafit Shamsutdinov saved two children in a fire. 
Fellow villager Rafita lit the stove and, leaving two children - a three-year-old girl and a one-and-a-half-year-old son, went to school with the older children. Rafit Shamsutdinov noticed smoke from the burning house. Despite the abundance of smoke, he managed to enter the burning room and take out the children.
13. Dagestani Arsen Fitzulaev prevented a disaster at a gas station in Kaspiysk. Only later did Arsen realize that he was actually risking his life. 
An explosion unexpectedly occurred at one of the gas stations within the boundaries of Kaspiysk. As it turned out later, a foreign car driving at high speed crashed into a gas tank and knocked down the valve. A minute of delay, and the fire would have spread to nearby tanks with flammable fuel. In such a scenario, casualties could not be avoided. However, the situation was radically changed by a modest gas station worker, who, through skillful actions, prevented the disaster and reduced its scale to a burnt-out car and several damaged cars.
14. And in the village of Ilyinka-1, Tula region, schoolchildren Andrei Ibronov, Nikita Sabitov, Andrei Navruz, Vladislav Kozyrev and Artem Voronin pulled a pensioner out of a well. 
78-year-old Valentina Nikitina fell into a well and could not get out on her own. Andrei Ibronov and Nikita Sabitov heard the cries for help and immediately rushed to save the elderly woman. However, three more guys had to be called in for help - Andrei Navruz, Vladislav Kozyrev and Artem Voronin. Together the guys managed to pull an elderly pensioner out of the well. “I tried to climb out, the well is shallow - I even reached the edge with my hand. But it was so slippery and cold that I couldn’t grab the hoop. And when I raised my hands, ice water poured into the sleeves. I screamed and called for help, but the well is located far from residential buildings and roads, so no one heard me. How long this lasted, I don’t even know... Soon I began to feel sleepy, with the last of my strength I raised my head and suddenly saw two boys looking into the well!” – said the victim.
15. In Bashkiria, a first-grader saved a three-year-old child from icy water. 
When Nikita Baranov from the village of Tashkinovo, Krasnokamsk region, accomplished his feat, he was only seven. Once, while playing with friends on the street, a first-grader heard a child crying coming from a trench. They installed gas in the village: the dug holes were filled with water, and three-year-old Dima fell into one of them. There were no builders or other adults nearby, so Nikita himself pulled the choking boy to the surface
16. A man in the Moscow region saved his 11-month-old son from death by cutting the boy’s throat and inserting the base of a fountain pen there so that the choking baby could breathe. 
An 11-month-old baby's tongue sunk and he stopped breathing. The father, realizing that seconds were counting, took kitchen knife, made an incision in the son’s throat and inserted a tube into it, which he made from a pen.
17. Shielded my brother from bullets. The story took place at the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. 
In Ingushetia, it is customary for children to congratulate friends and relatives in their homes at this time. Zalina Arsanova and her younger brother were leaving the entrance when shots were heard. In a neighboring yard, an attempt was made on one of the FSB officers. When the first bullet pierced the facade of the nearest house, the girl realized that it was shooting, and her younger brother was in the line of fire, and covered him with herself. The girl with a gunshot wound was taken to Malgobek Clinical Hospital No. 1, where she underwent surgery. Surgeons had to assemble the internal organs of a 12-year-old child literally piece by piece. Luckily everyone survived
18. Students of the Iskitim branch of the Novosibirsk Assembly College - 17-year-old Nikita Miller and 20-year-old Vlad Volkov - became real heroes of the Siberian town. 
Of course: the guys captured an armed robber who was trying to rob a grocery kiosk.
19. A young man from Kabardino-Balkaria saved a child in a fire. 
In the village of Shithala, Urvan district of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, a residential building caught fire. Even before the firefighters arrived, the entire neighborhood came running to the house. No one dared to enter the burning room. Twenty-year-old Beslan Taov, having learned that there was a child left in the house, without hesitation, rushed to his aid. Having previously doused himself with water, he entered the burning house and a few minutes later came out with the baby in his arms. The boy named Tamerlan was unconscious; in a few minutes he could not be saved. Thanks to the heroism of Beslan, the child remained alive.
20. A resident of St. Petersburg did not allow the girl to die. 
A resident of St. Petersburg, Igor Sivtsov, was driving a car when he saw a drowning man in the waters of the Neva. Igor immediately called the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and then attempted to save the drowning girl on his own.
Bypassing the traffic jam, he came as close as possible to the parapet of the embankment, where the drowning woman was carried by the current. As it turned out, the woman did not want to be saved; she tried to take her own life by jumping from the Volodarsky Bridge. After talking with the girl, Igor convinced her to swim to the shore, where he managed to pull her out. After that, he turned on all the heaters in his car and sat the victim down to warm up until the ambulance arrived.
