Advice for a beginning English tutor. How I became a tutor (personal experience)

Hello, dear readers and everyone who has visited my site!

Today I would like to talk about my personal experience of how I started working as an English tutor. Recently, I have had to share my experience with my students who are already graduating from universities and want to additionally work as a tutor.

This is exactly how many people see this as a purpose for earning extra income. I don’t argue, I also started this path with the opportunity to earn extra money and gain experience.

My first job as a teacher

I had a year and a half left before graduating from the pedagogical university when I started thinking about trying myself as a tutor. This was at the end of 2004. I was 20 years old. I thought for a long time about how to tell about my services.

At that time, I got a part-time job at one of the schools in Kazan. There I taught German and English. It must be said that most of the children there were from disadvantaged families. And, naturally, no one needed a foreign language there.

But, after spending a lot of effort, I was able to interest several students, which I was very happy about, given my little experience in teaching lessons and, especially, in communicating with difficult teenagers.

My first students

Having worked there for a year and a half, receiving mere pennies at the time, I still gained enormous experience and accumulated enough educational material. Without thinking twice, I decided to start my “promotion”.

She printed flyers and threw them around mailboxes in houses. Moreover, at that time there were no intercoms and entrance to the entrances was free. I must say, this method turned out to be successful for me, as two students turned to me.

The first one had to do homework, the second one had to catch up on the school curriculum. I remember I charged 200 rubles for 60 minutes. (went to see them).

From that moment I started my first classes. To be honest, doing homework was too boring for me. You won't get any development here. Especially if the student just needs to do homework, but he doesn’t even want to understand it. If only there weren't two!

But it was more interesting to study with the second student. The girl was capable and grasped everything quickly. We have made very good progress with her.

My acquaintance with the company “Your Tutor”

But somehow on the Internet I came across the website Your Tutor. I studied it and it seemed normal. I decided to submit the application and forgot. This happened in 2008. About a month later they called me to clarify my details. I was surprised because I didn't expect it at all.

I started working with this company on November 27, 2008. It was then that I was given my first student, Anatoly (11th grade, improve my grammar). I was very happy with my first order. And the policy of this company is that they give you a student, and you pay them a one-time fee for the lesson. It was like that before, but now it’s a little more so. But in the end, both sides still win.

And from that moment my active tutoring activity began. I don’t understand why many people still post ads when you can register on such sites. There are now a lot of similar companies on the Internet, but, in my opinion, they do not reach the popularity that the company Your Tutor has.

I remember the most difficult thing for me then was to create an electronic wallet into which I had to deposit money and, thus, pay the company. But having completed this task, I really fell in love with this system. electronic money!

They are all different...

or a little about self-development

Working to this day in this company, I get to know many interesting students and new tasks that they set for me.

Some people don’t understand grammar, some suddenly decided to take the Unified State Exam in English, adult students usually need a conversational language to go abroad, others just like learning foreign languages and want to know it better. All students are different, and so are the tasks.

The most important thing I take away from these classes is tremendous self-development. Yes! I myself am developing both in terms of language and in terms of teaching methods. Let the school teachers forgive me (I am one myself), but at school I stopped my development, except for the fact that some students at least somehow keep me on my toes!

Too much paperwork, heavy workload (currently I have 30 hours + class management), groups with different levels, etc. All this simultaneously saddens me and makes me more resilient. Working at school taught me a lot...

Some people tell me to leave school and go to work for myself, develop in private lessons. But! The school atmosphere keeps me going, communication with different students (not only about the subject), I get to know the stages of children’s development and this is terribly interesting to me (after all, someday I will become a mother myself). In the end, there is at least some kind of regime, self-discipline. But that's not what we're talking about now...

In addition to my favorite forum (efl.ru - section "Teaching English"), I also studied paper literature on various teaching methods. In fact, there are now a lot of books on how to teach English, they are all different in writing style and content .

This is not to say that this is the ideal method! But after reading all these books, I can form my opinion and choose what is perfect for me. Somewhere I’ll take interesting techniques, somewhere the author motivates well, and somewhere they even give ideas that help me create something of my own!

From all this, one develops one’s own methodology and self-confidence that everything will work out! But, of course, all this needs to be implemented and tested, otherwise reading will remain reading!

So, I suggest you familiarize yourself with my methodological books, which I look into from time to time, because it’s impossible to read them at once. You need to come back to them constantly!

I bought the first two books under the influence of the company “Your Tutor”. I've been waiting for them for a long time. The authors of these books are practicing tutors in Moscow on this site.

Some of my first books for tutors

English methodology for tutors (Marina Ivanova)

Marina Ivanova is an English tutor, she writes very simply and accessible for beginning tutors, describes her experience of working with preschoolers and schoolchildren, it is very interesting to read how other tutors work. Experienced tutors can also find all sorts of methodological tricks and tricks.

For reference, you can download one of her books (author’s method)

My profession is tutor (Anna Malkova)

Anna Malkova, a math tutor, describes very well and in detail the principles of a tutor’s work, not as additional income, but as a real independent profession.

The book examines all the pitfalls of tutoring and provides answers to all questions that a beginner may have.

I believe that every tutor (teacher) should have the following books.

Must have books for tutors and teachers

Methods of teaching foreign languages. Basic course (E.N. Solovova)

For informational reading, you can use this book. I hope you enjoy it!

Methods of teaching foreign languages. Advanced course (E.N. Solovova)

This manual is already for those who are familiar with the basics of the technique. The book introduces communicative technologies for teaching foreign languages - the use of videos, music, proverbs, dictations and games in the classroom.

Next come the books, some of whom may already be familiar from college. But still, I will also name them, since, for sure, they can be useful to beginner tutors who do not have teacher education. They come from a series of reference books for teachers of foreign languages.

Lesson foreign language (E.I. Passov, N.E. Kuzovleva)

The book is quite weighty, 640 pages. Main task of this manual - to develop the teacher’s ability to creatively plan and conduct any lessons on any material, in any new conditions. Useful for beginning teachers. I often come across interesting thoughts and ideas.

Handbook for foreign language teachers. Reference manual (E.A. Maslyko, P.K. Babinskaya, etc.)

I have special memories associated with this book. However, it was my very first book at the institute. I used it to pieces, it didn’t exist then practical guides. It really is like a reference book. Now I don’t look into it much anymore. But the sadness came when I took it out and took a photo for you.

Reference books for foreign language teachers

Our hit parade of books for tutors (teachers) is completed by the following two books:

Foreign language training(A. N. Shchukin)

This book is more theoretical, but it is necessary to know for those who are entering the field of education and who plan to connect their lives with school and learning. What is noteworthy about it is that at the end there is English-Russian dictionary(3000 words and phrases from the field of methodology and training)

English language. Modern teaching methods(A.V. Konysheva)

The book is interesting because it reveals modern methods training and can be used to organize independent work students. Also interesting is the material about role playing games, about how to make projects, use supports. I discovered it for myself new method- Dalton plan.

Useful and informative books

So I’m finishing this post, but I don’t stop writing about tutoring as an independent profession. If you want to become a tutor or are already one, then do not miss the following articles on this topic. Subscribe to updates!

P.S. Do you do tutoring? Does it give you pleasure? Your experience is very interesting!

Letters to the editor

Do you dream of working for yourself, but are hesitant to set out on your own just because you are not sure how you can be useful to the world? Start small: take a pen and a piece of paper and list all the skills you have. If proficiency in at least one foreign language is on this list, hooray, you have an excellent platform to start with.

Wait a minute, but I've worked as a sales manager all my life. household appliances, you say, and the language was used only from time to time, to communicate with clients. You're wrong: there are a ton of benefits to be gained from this.

There are two ways to start making money from your knowledge of a foreign language as a freelancer:

1) start teaching it,

2) engage in translation activities.

In both cases, it is important that your level of knowledge of the language is really high. You can check this by passing an entrance test at any language school that prepares students to take exams to obtain an international certificate. Using the English language as an example: if the test shows that you are below the Advanced level, then it is better to start investing in your own training, and then just start transferring knowledge to others.

In the case of the second point, you need to immediately make a reservation: you are unlikely to get by without a specialized education. Translations, especially technical ones, require a truly excellent knowledge of the language and specific terminology. Of course, no one is stopping you from getting this education while you are already free.

With pedagogical activities in relation to language, the situation is simpler. Let's remember what distinguishes a good teacher from a bad one?

Firstly, the ability to explain and convey ideas to the student so that he not only understands, but also remembers.

Secondly, endurance and patience.

Thirdly, ease of communication - no one likes “monsters with a pointer”; everyone enjoys gaining knowledge in a friendly and comfortable environment.

Fourth, a certain knowledge base.

Fifthly, ability to find individual approach to each of his students.

Sixth, sincere interest in your business.

Seventh, confidence in the student and a burning desire to achieve results together with him.

Let's assume that you actually worked as a sales manager and used a foreign language. The client is the same student, only more capricious, wayward and often intractable. Therefore, if you managed to demonstrate good results or even lead an entire team under the company’s banner, rest assured that you possess the above skills and abilities to a certain extent. Another thing is important: to develop and strengthen them by setting out on a new path. Those whose activities were not associated with constant communication should not despair either. The main thing, as in any business, is your desire to succeed and knowledge of your strengths and weaknesses.

Where to start?

So, you are determined to develop as a teacher. Main mistake which you can do, provided that you do not have a teaching diploma, start advertising yourself as a licensed specialist. The presence of various kinds of diplomas and awards is easy to check, and if you are caught in dishonesty, your reputation will come to an end. You shouldn’t embellish, but you shouldn’t underestimate yourself in advance either. After all, the level of teaching skills is not always measured by the number (and availability) of diplomas and certificates. Important point: the level of language for teaching must be high.

Positioning yourself as a foreign language tutor, in this case, is the surest option. Here it’s worth remembering your career as a “sales person” (or someone else), and realizing that you are not just a tutor, you are a person who can offer a student knowledge not only of a general nature, but also “savvy” him in a specific area.

The next step is to explore your surroundings. Think (a piece of paper, a pen, a phone book and a list of friends in social networks to help you), which of your friends might need your help as a teacher, and unobtrusively offer your services.

People and money

Create a thematic page on the same social networks - this could be your personal profile as a teacher, or thematic group. In your profile header, briefly and succinctly tell us about yourself and the services you offer. Make sure that the page is visible and don’t neglect it. The information that appears there must be strictly on topic and to the point - forget about pictures with kittens, there is nowhere to hide from them on the Internet. When you feel that the page is not enough, start a website. Of course, this can be done at the same time, but it will require more time and effort. At first, as a rule, there is enough competent work with the audience of social networks.

When starting a tutoring activity, and without being a “pro,” do not inflate your prices. People are generally reluctant to part with money, and even more so, they are not ready to pay “some self-taught person.” Therefore, conduct a price analysis on the market, estimate your costs, and set a reasonable price that will not be extortionate either to the students or to you. It should be increased gradually, and not earlier than after a year of work, when you have gained not only experience, but also positive feedback from students.

Speaking of reviews, don’t be shy about asking a student to write a review of your work. If you approach your work in good faith, then you won’t have to worry about negative opinions. Constructive criticism is only beneficial.

Place and time. Or maybe online?

The main advantage of a tutor is that he is not a language school that you want to go to, you don’t want to, but you have to go to classes. A tutor at his core - mobile version teacher. The degree of mobility is determined by him himself.

There are four options for organizing classes:

At the student's home

At the teacher's home

On neutral territory (cafe, library, coworking….)

Online format (Skype, Facetime….)

Practice shows that the majority - both students and teachers - choose the last two learning formats. Homeschooling, whatever one may say, is an invasion of personal space. In any case, the first meeting with a student should be held on neutral territory, in a quiet place where you can study calmly. Choose a home learning format only if you both feel comfortable, and no one has to overcome cosmic distances in order to get to your destination. The online format, despite its convenience, is still a good addition or periodic replacement for face-to-face classes. Monitor screen to oral language perception, especially on initial stages, significantly interferes. On the other hand, online lessons allow you to maintain contact with students even during your absence from the city/country, and, after some time, free you from being tied to a specific place.

It is clear about the unclear

The best format of classes, especially at first, is individual. In this case, it will be easier for both you and your student: for you to understand what kind of person is in front of you, how he or she learns the material, and where he or she is noticeably “limping”; for the student - to overcome the inevitable nervousness, overcome the language barrier and not feel stupid in case of mistakes.

On introductory lesson It is imperative to find out what goals and objectives the person has come to you with, and to adequately assess the situation. Don't bother if you're asked to cover three months of material in three days before an important exam or interview. Remember that you are not God, and disciples can also be careless. Unfortunately, your desire to help in such a case will not lead to success, but will only harm your reputation.

The main components of your success:

Find a way to explain so that the person understands;

Check to see if he really understood;

Repeat in different modes until he understands;

Create a friendly atmosphere;

Make your lessons varied. First ask the student about what he does, what he is interested in, what he is interested in - and then you will definitely be able to “hit the bull’s eye”;

Don’t forget to focus on the student’s level and needs;

PRAISE, even for small achievements;

Motivate;

Raise your level and expand your horizons: read, study, purchase manuals and textbooks, regularly check your level of knowledge.

And finally, praise yourself, because now you are doing what is really necessary - helping people become better, be more successful, and climb higher. That feeling when a grateful student wholeheartedly says “Thank you!” - it will stay with you for the rest of your life, and will illuminate it better than any shining career prospects in a large corporation. Good luck in this difficult, but such a bright teaching field!

Girls who are involved in tutoring, please tell me!!! Friends asked me to teach my child English, 3rd grade, language started in 2nd. According to my mother, I have problems with reading, even the alphabet is a little difficult. School program "Harmony". Textbook Enjoy English M.Z. Biboletova, O.A. Denisenko, N.N. Trubaneva + workbook. Tell me where to start? How to organize the process? What to focus on? Maybe we should start with the alphabet and the basic rules of reading? Phonetics? And add to this thematic study of vocabulary? To everyone who responds and does not pass by, THANK YOU SO MUCH in advance!

ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SCHOOL

About the status school education in Russia and the trends of its further degradation There are no more schools in Russia Of course, due to inertia, there are still some good free-standing schools - while there are even a lot of them - well, some islands of life would have survived even after the nuclear winter. There is no school as an institution for the formation of a nation, and its fragments are crumbling before our eyes right now. Very soon, the clear majority of schools in the country will be offices for day care for children: so that they don’t sniff glue in the basements; a typical graduate will...

  • Does a tutor need a license?
  • Cost of tutor services

Quality education is the most important basis for achieving success in almost any field. A student with good knowledge will be able to enter university more easily, a student will be able to easily overcome exam sessions, and a young specialist with additional and necessary skills increases his chances of rapid career growth.

Since the demand for tutoring services is high, there are enough offers on the market from various schools and private teachers. Most often, students and schoolchildren use the services of tutors. Some of them want to close gaps in certain knowledge, while others want to study a specific area more thoroughly. Often, adults turn to the services of tutors in order to learn a foreign language or take additional courses. vocational education to learn a new profession.

However, the thought “I want to become a tutor” is not enough to be a professional in this field. Let's look at what is needed for this.

Firstly, a quality teacher must have considerable psychological skills. At the same time, the tutor should not be devoid of creativity. It is worth remembering that a teacher is first and foremost an assistant and colleague for his student. In this article we will take a closer look at how to become a good tutor.

What does it take to become a good tutor?

Few people understand that tutoring is a complex and responsible profession. There is a stereotype that tutoring is a side activity of a school teacher or university professor. In reality, true masters of their craft are neither first nor second.

Experience and higher education are the main requirements for a quality tutor. Skills in pedagogy or psychology will not be superfluous. In addition, practical skills are also important. It is worth understanding that the longer a person is engaged in this field, the more experienced he becomes and the better quality of his work he does. Accordingly, its tariffs tend to increase over time.

In most cases, it is not easy to trace the duration of an experience. Therefore, it will not be superfluous to ask each of your students for recommendations. Reviews are a kind of confirmation of your competence in this field.

In fact, tutoring can be done by anyone who has higher education and a desire to teach. However, it is worth understanding that this type activity is not suitable for everyone. In addition to knowledge, you need to have certain personal qualities which are characteristic of a good teacher. These include the following:

  • Responsibility. It is this quality that will allow you to plan effective lessons and maintain academic discipline during classes;
  • Interest in the subject of teaching. Good tutor always improves and supplements his knowledge, as well as improves teaching methods;
  • The ability to present material in an accessible and understandable manner. Despite the fact that many of us understand a particular issue well, it can be difficult to explain it to another person. A quality tutor should be able to easily cope with this task.
  • Punctuality makes it possible to start and finish classes on time;
  • Ability to establish rapport with students. Personal charm and competence in your subject are the basis for building a trusting relationship with your mentee;
  • Patience and loyalty to student mistakes.
  • If you have the above qualities, you need to immediately start looking for students, and as a practice and to gain some experience, you can start with lessons with the children of your friends.

    What a novice tutor needs to know How a tutor can find students

    Today there are resources on the Internet where you can post your profile, which indicates the city in which you plan to work, the area where it will be convenient for you to travel to classes, tariffs, your education, work experience and other useful data.

    If you want to cut out the middlemen, you might consider advertising online or in the press. It wouldn’t hurt to post notices near schools and universities. Original and very effective solution There will be a website created for conducting classes via Skype.

    Does a tutor need a license?

    Tutoring is a form of individual pedagogical activity that is not subject to licensing. Qualification is confirmed by a corresponding diploma. It is important that the teacher can easily find contact with his students. Skills in the field of pedagogy, psychology, as well as experience in an educational institution will help you with this.

    You need to understand what tutoring is entrepreneurial activity. Therefore, it is necessary to issue an IP certificate. Naturally, this format of work means that you will have to pay taxes, thereby sharing your income with the state. However, this solution also has a number of advantages, including increased profits if you host students at home.

    There is also another option. If a tutor has an entrepreneurial spirit, he can organize his own training center. It must be taken into account that non-payment of taxes legal entity, which is similar educational institution, is punishable by a fine in the amount of 20 to 50 thousand rubles. In this case, the organization needs a license that allows it to conduct teaching activities.

    Cost of tutor services

    It is worth talking separately about the issue of tariffs for tutoring services. You don't want to make them very low because you won't be motivated to do a good job. Moreover, potential clients may have doubts about the quality of your services. If you do your job well, be sure to demand decent pay for it. Lack of experience may be a reason to reduce your tariffs to a level slightly below average, but you should not overdo it in this matter.

    There are no uniform methods for calculating the cost of tutoring services. There are the following factors that influence the price:

    • Professional education of a teacher;
    • Experience;
    • Region of residence;
    • Location of lessons;
    • Study intensity;
    • Guarantees provided by the tutor;
    • The uniqueness of the subject taught.

    For example, the services of a physics tutor in Samara will cost less than similar lessons in Moscow. At the same time, since this area is less widespread compared to English, the cost of lessons will be slightly higher than the rates of a foreign teacher.

    If at the end of the lesson your student does not remember about the payment, you can remind him of the fee. You can ask how it is more convenient for the client to pay - for ten lessons or separately for each, and then clarify that the second option is preferable for you.

    When asking yourself the question of how to become a successful tutor, you need to understand that hard work in in this direction will allow us to achieve considerable heights in this area. You must be well versed in the subject, have considerable work experience, make the lesson interesting and effective, and constantly update your knowledge.

    In addition, you must have a desire to enrich your student with new knowledge. Become a mentor and friend to your mentee. Practice the principle that there are no hopeless students.

    To understand what it takes to become a tutor, use the following tips:

    • Choose one narrow area and become a quality tutor in it;
    • Practice an individual approach to each student;
    • During the first lesson, try to assess the student’s level of knowledge, the goals being pursued, the load that he can withstand;
    • The main goal of the teacher is to make the subject interesting for the student, without forcing him to study anything;
    • During classes, the student should be given the opportunity to express his opinion and be allowed to talk more often about the subject being studied;
    • Make the student respect you, as this is the basis for building effective business relations. If this is not possible, you can safely refuse to work with the student. Remember that you can always find more effective and productive use of your skills and abilities.

    It is not enough to know how to become a tutor. Remember that reputation is the basis of a successful career for any teacher. You need to understand that one negative review about your services will cost you more than three positive recommendations. This is especially true for teachers who have a main job and attract students for additional training in a specific subject.

    These tips will help you overcome a lot of difficulties on the way to building your own business. By following them, you can quickly achieve a good level of income and gain an excellent reputation in your field.

    No one is immune from mistakes. Beginning specialists - even more so. But in some professions: engineer, doctor, teacher and others, mistakes can be costly. This article is an attempt to give some tips that may help you avoid these mistakes.

    1. Lack of self-confidence

    As the saying goes, “You never get a second chance to make a first impression.” Coming to a lesson for the first time, any tutor should make a positive impression, and a beginner - threefold. Excessive anxiety of a novice tutor (shaking hands and voice, obsessive movements) can make a strange impression, which he still has nothing to smooth out, in contrast to a teacher with experience, some of whose features one can, in principle, turn a blind eye to.

    Self-doubt and fear of not being liked by the student can force the tutor to build an incorrect line of behavior with him - with “flirting” and erasing the necessary distance in the relationship, which, in turn, will weaken his authority and allow the student to work half-heartedly. You cannot go to the other extreme, putting on the mask of an evil teacher, prohibiting and threatening. The mask will sooner or later come off, revealing your true face, and this will allow the student to behave with you without any respect. Before going to class, do a little exercise, take a deep breath, raise your head and smile at your reflection in the mirror. You have enough knowledge to convey it to others, charm to please people, and confidence to remain yourself when people try to confuse you.

    Don’t be late for class, but if you feel that you still won’t make it on time, be sure to call: no one will kill you for the very fact of being late, and by calling you you will leave the impression of at least a polite person. Don’t take on all the offers in a row: while your rate is low, traveling from one end of the city to the other you will spend half of the money you earn on transport, the time during which you could teach another lesson, and the energy that you, of course, still have will be needed.

    2. Unsystematic classes, lack of expressed requirements

    Even before the start of classes, you must form a certain set of rules that are common to everyone, and later supplement it with points that are constant for a particular student. For example, I strongly recommend that many students have several notebooks at the very first lesson: for recording various kinds of theory, for verification work and for homework. Moreover, if you start them, you and the student should teach them at every lesson, and not when you accidentally remember about it. The student also needs to be taught order: he should always know where his notebooks and books are, prepare them in advance and not lose them. Losing an assignment, from the point of view of a careless student, is very good reason its failure to comply. Therefore, if you study not from textbooks, but from various handouts, recommend that the student create a special folder for them. Get yourself a diary or some kind of journal: it will be convenient to write down the material covered, homework and mistakes of each student, which, in your opinion, should be worked on next time, since you will keep all this information in your head, especially when You will have a lot of students, it’s not that easy.

    You must clearly and clearly inform the parents of the students about the cost of classes, the days and times that suit you, the requirements for the child, your position regarding the cancellation and postponement of classes, and also subsequently promptly inform parents about the children’s bad behavior or their failure to complete homework, do not allow they have to ride on themselves and say goodbye to them without regrets when this starts to happen.

    3. Lack of lesson plan

    It is a mistake to think that good knowledge of the subject allows you to not prepare for the lesson. Especially if you are still at the very beginning of your journey. It is necessary to draw up a plan in which you indicate exactly what you will do during the lesson and how long it will take you to complete each item. But the plan cannot be treated formally. No matter how simple the material may seem to you, you need to study it very carefully, noting to yourself the ways to explain it (the more, the better: one is never enough), possible difficulties students and ways to overcome them, possible responses of students to oral and written tasks. In addition, you should always be prepared for the fact that a student’s homework may not be completed or completed incompletely, so instead of quickly checking it and starting new topic, you'll have to do something else. Thus, the plan should provide for several options for developing the lesson. The time to complete the plan items must be calculated in advance and distributed evenly, without delving into any one task to the detriment of others. It is completely unacceptable to interrupt a student in the midst of completing a task simply because you yourself did not calculate how much time it would take him.

    4. A unified approach to different students

    If you are a beginning teacher, then most likely you have not yet developed an extensive methodological library, and now it is important for you not to be afraid to learn new things. Different students have different problems and different goals, so you should use different textbooks, and not just one or two that are best known to you. Spend time searching for and pre-evaluating materials so that you don’t waste time later on something that the student doesn’t need at all. Subsequently, to make searching easier the required material on a particular topic, it will be possible to compile a catalog of available resources.

    5. Unwillingness to answer questions

    Active, interested students are a real gift for any tutor, but a headache for a beginner. Surprises await you at every turn: for example, if you teach a foreign language and, while studying the topic “Professions,” you ask a student what their parents do, then please do not expect that everyone will turn out to be teachers, engineers or doctors. A foreign language teacher may be faced with the problem of a student’s specific interests that lie outside his linguistic competence, and therefore experience difficulties in translating a particular term (aircraft parts, dance figures). In this case, it would not hurt you to familiarize yourself with this or that category of vocabulary, but let the student know that you cannot know everything and encourage him to make independent discoveries. In turn, in a physics lesson, a student may have his own alternative view of the cause of some natural phenomena, and you must put yourself in his place in order to understand his point of view and clarify any questions.

    6. Lack of restraint with slow students

    On the other hand, students who do not think so quickly require great self-control from the tutor, because you should never yell at them, even if you really, really want to. Screaming and swearing frighten children, block their thought processes and give rise to complexes. Even if you have to explain the material in twenty-five in different ways, before the student understands what they want from him, try to treat it positively. You are a super teacher if you know twenty-five ways to explain one topic, and Indian yogis would envy your patience! Besides, in the end, you will still achieve your goal, and the gratitude of such a student will be much higher.

    A novice teacher, student or yesterday's student may be in some euphoria from receiving new professional knowledge or a new status and sincerely want to teach the student everything at once. With such generosity, he can do harm rather than good, disrupt the student’s picture of the world and make him doubt the teaching system used in this subject in the past. at this stage, especially when it comes to elementary school. A second-grader, like his name, learns that one cannot divide by zero, but if the tutor casually informs him that this is not entirely true, then a misunderstanding with the school teacher and a decrease in grades are guaranteed. The other extreme is to generally avoid any complexities and terminology, even that which the student should obviously know (“addition”, “adverb”, “diffusion”, “catalyst”), and use descriptive phrases instead so as not to overload his brain. It is necessary to firmly know the program of each class and adhere to it, making allowances for the depth of knowledge and abilities of each individual student.
