Batch cross-cutting machines are designed for preliminary trimming of bundles of lumber, slabs at sawmills, loading terminals, molding shops and lumber drying areas. Also, batch cross-cutting machines are often used for trimming and bucking round logs with a diameter of up to 1500 mm.
Design features and advantages of batch cross-cutting machines
Batch cross-cutting machines are divided into two types:
- Stationary batch cross-cutting machines;
- Mobile cross-cutting machines.
Stationary machines have the following advantages:
- High cutting accuracy due to fixation of the saw bar on both sides;
- Massive work table eliminates vibration during work;
- Variable length of the work table, thereby increasing the productivity and efficiency of the cross-cutting machine.
Mobile cross-cutting machines have the following advantages:
- Do not require a specially prepared foundation;
- They have a wheeled platform and small dimensions, which allows them to be used at loading terminals and easily moved throughout production.
Both types of machines have high performance. The cutting speed reaches up to 2.5 m2 per minute.
Batch cross-cutting machines are low cost and simple design. Highly qualified personnel are not required to operate the machine.
The tool for batch cross-cutting machines is a bar with a chain. This tool has a high service life and low price, and also does not require specialized sharpening machines.
When choosing a batch cross-cutting machine, you need to pay attention to the following characteristics:
- Maximum cross-section of a trimmed package of lumber;
- Length of lumber package;
- Productivity per year/month/shift/hour;
- Temperature equipment operation and operating conditions.
Buy a batch cross-cutting machine at a competitive price from the KAMI Association
The website of the KAMI Association presents installations for trimming packages of lumber, round logs, and slabs made in Russia and Austria (Prince). Pass-through cross-cutting machines are capable of increasing the productivity and overall quality of the production line of a woodworking enterprise, as well as reducing the influence of the human factor on the production component.
This line for forming stacks and packages of lumber allows you to mechanize the formation of drying stacks and transport packages with automatic alignment of lumber along the length (transverse trimming).

Operating principle
A stack of lumber is installed by a loader on a floor conveyor. The package of lumber moves along the floor conveyor to the stacking device. The stacker is a system of lifting forks with simultaneous overturning of the stack and layer-by-layer gravitational dumping of lumber onto a receiving chain conveyor. The conveyor receives a layer of workpieces from the stack and dumps the workpieces onto an inclined conveyor (slide).
An additional belt conveyor can be installed between the stacking device and the receiving conveyor to receive interlayer spacers falling from the stack
From the slide, the products are delivered piece by piece to the entrance cross-cutting machine, on which the workpiece is oriented and trimmed. The trimmed products are transferred via a chain conveyor to a stacking device, where a layer of blanks is formed by individually accumulating a number of boards into a board. The resulting shield on retractable guides places a layer of lumber on the lowering stacking forks.
Depending on the configuration, the stacker can be equipped with an interlayer rack-laying mechanism.
The formed package with lumber is lowered onto the outgoing floor conveyor, which removes the finished stack from the area of the stacking forks and moves the product to the unloading site.
- In February 2017, we launched new look equipment: installation for trimming packages of lumber EPC-3 PT-1100 with a cutting width of 1100 mm based on a hydraulic trolley. In 2018 we equipped this installation modern model electric saws EPC-3.Giant with a drive sprocket and a 3/8″ chain, which increased productivity and resistance to hard wood. Another advantage of the installation is its versatility: if necessary, the saw unit can be turned into hand tool EPC-3 with any tire length from 50 to 110 cm.
To obtain more accurate bag dimensions, the trimming machine can be optionally equipped with bilateral stabilization system tires and frames relative to the package. She looks like this:
This option has been in production since August 2018.
The frame of the bag cutter and the vertical guide bar on the opposite side are secured with self-tapping screws on the bag, ensuring cutting accuracy in given size. During the sawing process, the roller attached to the end of the bar moves along a given path.
An additional option costs 9,900 rubles. without VAT.
2. Batch trimming EPC-3.PT-1200. Since the roller reduces the useful length of the bar by 9-10 cm, we can equip the trimming machine with 120 cm tires for sawing packages 110 cm wide. This installation already includes a two-way stabilization system.

Tests on logs:
Thanks to the rigid vertical frame and high speed chain is reached high precision I drank it away. Here “pancakes” with a thickness of only three mm are cut on all 18 logs lying in a pack.
