DIY bathroom furniture. Do-it-yourself bathroom furniture - we can easily make a cabinet and shelves Do-it-yourself bathroom furniture drawings

Today's post is about how to assemble bathroom furniture with your own hands. The article was prepared based on the material home handyman Dmitry Podpalchenko.

DIY bathroom furniture

I really liked the furniture from natural wood(or veneered boards) that I have seen in some hotels. In particular, I really like the use of thick panels (40 mm or more), which greatly adds solidity to the furniture. It’s decided - we’ll make it from thick panels!

My perfectionistic tendencies made it difficult to demand that new furniture in the same color and texture in which it was executed in advance installed door. Papa Carlo is standing at my door - this is real good doors. I had to build a clever combination so that the production would give me all the information about the veneer used - it was not without difficulty that I found out that it was “Alpi Walnut Italian tangential two-flare 2N 270/FN 2 A30”.

So, the task was set: a bathroom cabinet made of thick panels, in the same veneer as the door.

DIY bathroom furniture: choosing material

Water and humidity, to put it mildly, are not best friend for furniture, so the issue of choosing material in this case is of paramount importance. Chipboard was rejected as a class, although moisture-resistant chipboard does exist (but it mainly comes in white only). MDF - no matter what, mainly manufacturers of bathroom furniture use this construction material. But if you wet the MDF thoroughly, it will also swell. Once I already had an abundant waterfall in the bathroom and hallway, although until that moment I thought that I was extremely reliably insured against a flood due to the lack of neighbors above. If something like this happens again, I’m unlikely to have the desire to do the same thing again. Therefore, MDF is also not an option, we cut it off like eggs from a tax in kind.

At first I wanted to make everything from solid teak, because teak is practically not affected by water and is often used in the finishing of yachts and ships. But, unfortunately, in Ukraine I did not find a supplier capable of cutting teak for me the right sizes, but I don’t have a carpentry shop. Solid wood of other types of wood in wet conditions is unacceptable.

But plywood, and especially its most common type - Shipboard Plywood (FC) - is what the doctor ordered, it’s not for nothing that it’s called shipboard. Plywood is produced in a variety of thicknesses - from small to large, and this is also a plus - you don’t have to glue two thin panels to get thickness, as is usually done with chipboard and MDF.

DIY bathroom furniture: measurements

Doesn't happen at all smooth walls There are no perfectly right angles. You need to know the enemy by sight. In the case of creating furniture close to the walls (not free-standing), you need to understand how smooth the walls are and the corners are straight. In this case I was lucky. The maximum deviation I received was 2 mm. At 2 meters and this can not even be taken into account.

DIY bathroom furniture: design

Cabinet furniture is easy! A set of rectangular panels that must be joined in a specific way. There is nothing complicated about this and good instrument won't be much of a problem. And of course, the necessary school knowledge of geometry and trigonometry - sine-cosine there, tangent-cotangent.

In this case, I used SketchUp for design:

DIY bathroom furniture: fittings

Bloom. Excellent Blum fittings. Having started with it, I have no desire to look at anything else. In particular, because they give the master first-class documentation and design capabilities. You haven’t ordered anything yet, but you already know where every hole necessary for attaching the fittings will be. And for the diehards, you can even transfer everything you design in Blum Dynaplan directly into the 3D SketchUp model.

I ended up buying two tandemboxes and a metabox for the inner drawer. It cost $100.

DIY bathroom furniture: Action

So, the result of our design research should be a file that lists every single detail. Approximately this (calculation of materials was made for all furniture: for the bathroom and hallway):

Now we need to find a company that will take some money from you, look at the detailing file and in return give you all your panels - in the right sizes, cut and edged. They will cut your firewood from slabs of certain sizes. If they have this material in their warehouse program, you can get as much without hesitation square meters, as much as you need. Otherwise, you will be forced to buy and pay for the slabs, and not for the number of square meters you need.

When designing bathroom furniture with your own hands, to achieve a good economic effect, you should approach at least 80% completion of the sheets slab material. I will demonstrate using the example of cutting cards that I made myself in the Cutting program (they were later used for cutting):

I walked around in shock all day. All this firewood collectively weighs 150 kg. I already loaded them, brought them home, unloaded them, and took them up to the floor. That is, to take them to the paint shop you need to: load, unload, load, unload. And the firewood doesn’t get any better. They must be constantly repackaged, otherwise all the beauty will be ruined. The cost of paintwork, as it turns out, is not cheap at all. The best deal I found was $50 per square meter. That is, firewood costs $500, and its processing costs $600. At home, it is very, very difficult to do high-quality painting and varnishing, although I know that in principle it is possible. But we are not looking for easy ways!

Furniture, even in the format we are familiar with, has existed for a very long time - centuries! Polyurethane varnishes clearly did not exist in those days. What was the furniture of those times covered with? Wax! On some forum I found information about the OSMO brand. I googled it and realized that this was what I needed - a warm lamp mixture of oils and waxes, easily applied at home. There was a risk that I wouldn’t match the color of the door, but... everything went more than successfully!

Test paint. On the left is the unprocessed part, in the center the processed part, on the right is the scrap from the door that we are aiming for.

The sequence of actions is as follows: sand with large grains, sand with small grains, paint, wait, sand with small grains, paint, wait, polish. I experienced all this the hard way and, I must tell you, the cost of painting work is quite justified - these are terrible hemorrhoids. But no one said that you can easily make bathroom furniture with your own hands!

Actually, everything we need for the painting process. And patience, a lot of patience.

This is how the color of the panels suddenly changes when painted. Fiction:

The painting process took me a week!

DIY bathroom furniture: assembly

Well, let's go collect! But first, to the store:

Confirmat is a useful, fast and convenient thing. For furniture makers. For you, confirmation is a bunch of unaesthetic plugs on furniture surfaces. When creating decent furniture, confirmat is not used. Or dowels, or special euro ties. On dowels - non-separable, on ties - collapsible. So, as before, I used a Wolfcraft Dowelmaster dowel jig.

My favorite screwdriver. It's very convenient.

Here is the first mistake. Never fix dowels with glue in the middle of the process. You will do this when all the response holes are ready.

We drill answers. We use a drilling depth limiter.

And here is shown a method of end “copying” the location of dowels from one panel to another.

We attach the guides to the right pillar. The second mistake is never make standing joints!

40mm panels are heavy. Wooden surface soft. Care is required.

Repair is an extremely troublesome task. Many people prefer to start it spontaneously, thinking only about the color and texture finishing materials. Is it any wonder that the result then rarely satisfies them. Practice shows that renovation work The bathroom, like any other room, requires careful preparation. The first stage is a well-designed bathroom design project, which includes not only the proposed design, but also a description necessary work, and a detailed estimate.

First of all, you need to decide on the size of the room. We take measurements of all planes very carefully and write them down. Subsequently, based on these values, it will be possible to make a drawing of the room, which will be needed for arranging equipment, furniture and decor, as well as for determining the exact consumption necessary materials. The diagram can be drawn on paper, or you can use a special program. Online project bathroom has many advantages, the main one of which is the opportunity to see with your own eyes created design premises. This software can be easily downloaded and installed completely free of charge.

An example of a bathroom design project made in an online editor

Choosing interior design

After creating an accurate drawing, you should select general direction room decoration. “For inspiration,” you can consider design projects of bathrooms, photos of which are posted on specialized websites or in magazines. By adding own ideas or by selecting ready-made solution, we decide on the decor style, select accents and think through the interior equipment of the room. It is best to choose the style and decor of the interior taking into account the characteristics of the room.

There are certain types of decoration that look great in spacious rooms and are completely unacceptable for small ones. This applies to large prints on wallpaper, massive equipment, floor-to-ceiling photo panels and similar elements. Color solution is chosen based on the same considerations. Saturated, dark and very bright colors in small bathrooms will only be appropriate in the form of well-placed accents that enliven the room. The main shades should be light and neutral.

A large pattern in wall decor is very appropriate for spacious bathrooms and completely unacceptable for small ones.

We select furniture and plumbing fixtures

The next step is choosing equipment and furniture. We must try to create optimal layout, which will be not only convenient, but also functional. To do this, you should correctly optimize the space, this is especially important for small rooms. To simplify your work, you can take a schematic design of a bathroom, cut out models of furniture and equipment from paper, and “try on” several layout options. Online planners will make this even easier.

You need to know that equipment connection areas are not necessarily located permanently; they can be moved. Plumbing fixtures are selected in accordance with the design style of the room and its dimensions. The same applies to pieces of furniture. Don't forget about lighting. At this stage, the locations of lamps or illuminated areas are determined. It is better that the lighting in the bathroom is diverse and, if possible, multi-level.

Proper organization of space is extremely important for rooms of any size

We select materials and determine the sequence of work

Competent design projects bathrooms include a detailed list of materials needed to furnish the room. Coverings should be selected taking into account the special conditions of the bathroom. This high humidity and significant temperature changes. Finishing materials must withstand them without compromising their characteristics. In conclusion, you should determine for yourself the sequence of work. They usually start with preparatory work: dismantling old equipment, preparing walls, ceilings, floors, etc.

Then sewerage, water supply, heating and electrification cables are laid. Only after this can you move on to finishing works. They can be made in different sequences depending on what materials are chosen for decoration. Usually the floor is finished last, although this is not at all necessary. At the final stage, we draw up a final estimate, which includes the costs of materials, equipment, furniture and the cost of services for their laying, installation and finishing.

Bathroom design project – required document. It gives a complete picture of the upcoming work, the materials needed for its implementation and financial costs. It is quite possible to compile it yourself, but if you have no experience in such work, it is better to turn to professionals who will quickly and competently prepare the necessary documentation.

Ready-made design projects

The plywood, veneer, cutting and edging were done by TransLok. All this cost $500. I had to go to the factory because I wanted to do a few custom things: I needed finishing cuts for the vanity and miter saws on several hanger pieces.

The shop workers forbade me to film anything, but I’m stubborn. In general, the video says everything better than words:

So, all the firewood fit perfectly into the car, was delivered and lifted into the apartment (excellent work, I must say).

Painting

Uh... I was completely unprepared to find out that veneered (in general, it seems correct to say “veneered”, but “veneered plywood” sounds stupid) products are still a semi-finished product. And it turns out they still have to be processed.

Now it’s interesting to see what the unprocessed product looks like. Trying on the ground:

I walked around in shock all day. All this firewood collectively weighs 150 kg. I already loaded them, brought them home, unloaded them, and took them up to the floor. Offtopic: grout

My wife has long complained about the inability to properly clean the seams in the bathroom. The craftsmen rubbed so deep that ditches 3–4 mm deep formed between the tiles. Therefore, the intermediate task is to grind all the seams in the bathroom!

I first tried to clean out the seams with a file, without success. Then I tried to do it with a Dremel - I burned the nozzle and cleaned out 30 cm. I had to buy a universal Bosch MultiMaster vibrator and an attachment for it to clean the grout. The tool justified itself - I used it both for sawing and for grinding and polishing.

Valuable advice: never use cement grout! Use epoxy grout and your bathroom will still shine in 10 years. I once squeezed an extra $150 and now I regret it.

Assembly

Well, let's go collect! But first, to the store:

Confirmat is a useful, fast and convenient thing. For furniture makers. For you, confirmation is a bunch of unaesthetic plugs on furniture surfaces. When creating decent furniture, confirmat is not used. Or dowels, or special euro ties. On dowels - non-separable, on ties - collapsible. Therefore, as before, I used a Wolfcraft Dowelmaster dowel jig, the principle of which can be seen.

Let's start:

My favorite screwdriver. It's very convenient.

Here is the first mistake. Never fix dowels with glue in the middle of the process. You will do this when all the response holes are ready.

We drill answers. We use a drilling depth limiter.

And here is shown a method for end-to-end “copying” the location of dowels from one panel to another.

We attach the guides to the right pillar. The second mistake is never make standing joints!

40mm panels are heavy. The wooden surface is soft. Care is required.

First fitting.

Blum boxes are very easy to assemble.

We attach the support brackets to the wall. Once upon a time I discovered Fisher fastening products (dowels). Since then I haven’t cheated on her. The pleasure is expensive, but it's worth it.

I printed a template for the washbasin. The toilet and washbasin are Laufen brands, Mimo series. All products of this brand are well documented and presented on the website. The first sign of a quality product is first-class, accessible documentation. Europe knows a lot about this. Grohe, Blum, Laufen - a pleasure to work with.

Zip and it's done. Only a jigsaw needs good files. Most of this sloppy drink is hidden under the sink. The part that is visible to the eye is the finishing cuts made in production circular saw. Don't try to do it with a jigsaw clean saws- it won't work.

We connect the faucet and washing machine. To prevent water from getting under the washbasin, I bought a TESA window seal and pasted it around the perimeter of the washbasin from below. Whether a furniture master will do this for you, I doubt it, he’ll probably kill it.

Another discovery of the year. Taps for marking counter holes. A handy thing that speeds up the process.

The panels are heavy and need to be fastened securely. 6 attachment points.

Level and plumb lines are our true friends.

My personal tragedy. It took a whole day to make an army of 180 hook-and-screws.

I wouldn't be me if I made through fastening of the panels to the wall. But we are not looking for easy ways - dowels in the wall and glue. There are no visible exit holes!

As you can see, there is nothing complicated in making cabinet furniture.
And this is quite an exciting activity.

How to properly plan the bathroom, the smallest and at the same time essential room in the apartment? This is a responsible, difficult task, unforgiving of mistakes, requiring ingenuity, taste, knowledge of the design features and arrangement of the bathroom.

Bathroom layout 3.9 m x 2.4 m

Do you want to design your bathroom and toilet yourself? Following the following action plan will help you not to get confused among the details, consider several layout options and choose the best among them:

  • Take measurements of the room and calculate its area;
  • Compose approximate diagram rooms (on a checkered piece of paper);
  • Mark where the water supply outlet and sewer drain are located;
  • Make a list of plumbing equipment in order of priority, starting with the most necessary, find out if there are models of the right size for your room;
  • Draw it all on the drawing or cut out pieces of paper to the required scale so that you can move them around the drawing.

Wiring water pipes and sewerage

If a large bathtub does not fit, it can be replaced with a small corner bath or a shower stall. Probably then it will be possible to install a washing machine as well. But if you need a larger bathtub, sacrifice the sink and install a machine instead.

Corner bath in a small bathroom

How to take into account the needs of all residents and safety requirements

The problem of choosing plumbing equipment for a small bathroom is especially acute, because the space is limited to a few squares. To make the right decision, answer the questions:

  • Who will use the bathroom and how often;
  • Will it be necessary to separate different areas of the room from each other;
  • Is it necessary to install a bathtub and shower?
  • What is a priority and what can be abandoned if necessary.

For children, all items and equipment (especially with electrical wires) must be safe. If the interests of older people using the bathroom are also taken into account, complex electrical and other appliances, furniture with high sides or inconvenient access are not chosen, and additional handles are attached for safety near showers or bathtubs.

For elderly family members, special handles are installed on the bathroom

In front of each of the plumbing fixtures (bathtub, washbasin, toilet, washing machine) mentally imagine a “square” with the above parameters. These are approximate values, it’s okay if the “squares” are not whole, and their geometry is disturbed by surrounding objects. It is important to maintain the general trend by proportionally dividing the bathroom space.

In the drawing you drew earlier, arrange all of the room's contents according to these recommended placement standards. For rooms of regular geometric shapes, for example, square, the arrangement of all appliances and fixtures along the walls makes the task easier: the free spaces you left in front of the bathtub and sink intersect in the center of the room.

All plumbing fixtures are shown on the drawing.

Layout depending on room size

If the room contains niches or recesses in the walls, evaluate their size and location. At first glance, these are disadvantages of the layout, but they can be turned into advantages by placing a small-sized washing machine, cabinet, small corner washbasin or toilet there. We recommend that you first find out the exact ones in order to build on this in the future.

For a room 2 square meters

There is a radical solution for a bathroom that is too small: put the washing machine in the kitchen or hallway. Perhaps the most difficult thing is planning a small bathroom in panel house. In the bathing room, which is not combined with a toilet, the area of \u200b\u200b1.9 sq. m, it is possible to place a bathtub and a shower. In this case, you will have to give up the washbasin standard size, replace it with a small model. And only a corner shower, the smallest one, will do.

Bathroom design 2 sq m

Design of a small bathroom 2 sq m

Combined bathroom with shower

Shower stall in the bathroom 2 sq m

Bathroom 2 sq.m. with mini machine

When or, for example, 1.5 by 1.35 m (another widespread layout in a panel house), then the machine placed opposite the sink leaves little free space. The room looks cluttered and seems much smaller than it actually is. The solution is this: make glass shelves on the wall on top of the unit for small or medium-sized items - this way the light will pass through the transparent surfaces and the room will seem spacious and cozy. If there is still a need to visually enlarge the space of the bathroom a little more small apartment, use mirrors of different sizes, use visual effects of surface reflection.

For a small bathroom

A room intended for water procedures, the area of which is slightly more than 2 sq. m (a bathroom of this size can be in a private house or a panel house) is also considered small-sized. The layout of a square-shaped bathroom is not difficult, because even when sanitary fixtures are located near the walls, the central part remains more or less free for unhindered movement and changing clothes.

Bathroom layout options 2.9 sq m

Example of bathroom layout 3.1 sq m

Rectangular dimensions (for example, 1.5 by 1.37 m, area 2.055 sq. m) allow you to equip even quite useful, functional room. If you make the bathtub and washbasin corner, the toilet will fit perfectly opposite the washbasin. Diagonally opposite it there will be space for a toilet cabinet, a pencil case with towels or a washing machine.

If the size of the combined bathroom is at least 4 square meters. m and you have enough to wash the shower stall; if you wish, you can separate two useful areas with a partition: with a washing machine, shelves, towels and a washing area. An area of 4.1 square meters (1.5 by 2.7 m) allows you to install, in addition to the toilet and sink, a corner hydromassage bath.

Corner bathtub with hydromassage

With a size from 5 to 10 sq m

A bathroom with an area of 5.7 square meters is equipped simultaneously with two devices for personal hygiene: a bathing bowl and a shower stall. You just have to select corner models that have the shape of an irregular polygon in order to fit them into the niches usually formed ventilation ducts in the house. One of these recesses will accommodate a washing machine.

Example of bathroom layout 5.52 sq m

Bathroom layout options 5.9 sq m

If the size of the bathroom is 5.9 square meters (the same size would be a room whose length is 2.5 m and width is 2.35 m), this means that the family living in the house is presumably large. Why not make two single or one double washbasin at once? Near the sinks, you can plan to install a toilet in the corner, and the opposite wall will place an adjacent shower stall and bathtub.

Location of plumbing fixtures in a 6 sq. m bathroom

Example of bathroom layout 6.25 sq m

An example of the layout of an extended bathroom 6.46 sq m

In a home with a bathroom 2.7 by 2.6 m, you can install not only a double washbasin, but also any plumbing fixture, if necessary: bidets, shower cabins, toilets.

In this bathroom you can install a double washbasin

An example of a bathroom layout 8 sq m

Let's say the area of your room is 7.2 square meters, the length of the walls is 2.45 and 2.95 m, and there is a window. If it's opposite front door, we place the bathhouse near a beautiful panorama of trees, streets, sky, or whatever else is visible from the window. Near one wall, which is located “at the feet” of the bathroom itself: cabinets, washbasins; the other has a shower, toilet, mirror, additional chest of drawers.

Having a 10 square meter bathroom in a private house provides a huge advantage: the ability to organize a so-called guest area with a different floor level. Simply put, small area with toilet and washbasin is intended for guests. The entrance to the second area containing the shower stall, bathtub, and large pedestal sink is blocked off plasterboard partition with a light door and screen.

For sizes greater than 10 sq m

In a private (not panel) house with a spacious room (meaning an eleven-meter bathroom) suitable for water and hygiene procedures big family, you can also make steps to the bathing bowl, different in level above the ground, which complicates the perception of the entire volume of the room. It makes more sense to use different types of lighting: directed at the mirror, diffused in the relaxation zone.

An example of a bathroom layout 14 sq m

In the central part of the space there will be a bathroom beautiful legs, next to it is a shower stall, which seems to enclose a urinal and bidet. In the second half of the room: washbasins, cabinets, shelves, mirrors. The described option for placing a bathhouse is very interesting, because it is rare to find such original way use of a trivial room in a large house.

Natural light enters the bathroom through the window

What else to add to the bathroom interior? A second washing machine, a spinner, and a clothes dryer are options for additional upgrades to a spacious bathroom. If there are many residents, they are of different genders and ages, you will need to install additional chests of drawers, mirrors, shelves with bath accessories, shampoos, body and face care products. Cabinet with towels, household chemicals fits comfortably in a corner or any other place convenient for the hostess. A double bathing bowl will be a godsend: several children can splash in it at once.

Nuances of bathroom space planning that are unnoticeable at first glance

When thinking about the design of your bathroom, do not ignore some immediately invisible details that can ruin everything in the future. Here is a list of such nuances:

  • Check in advance whether there will be enough light in the bathroom and mirror area;
  • The towel dryer should not be behind the door;
  • If the family will soon or already have small children, it is better to immediately make the height of the sink pedestal accessible to them;
  • Eliminate wooden furniture from the room plan;
  • If an acrylic bathtub is installed, then you need to make a frame for it, and it takes up additional space;
  • Does the bathroom layout include a mirror behind the opening door? Then take care of the door opening limiter in advance so that the reflective surface remains intact;
  • If you are making cabinets for bed linen and towels near the shower, you will need forced ventilation rooms.

It is beneficial to purchase a tandem mini-bathroom with a shower cabin, two in one, to significantly save unoccupied space. Wall hung toilets also solve this problem, and they also make cleaning easier.

Bath with shower

Wall-hung toilets and bidets not only save space, but also make cleaning easier

The bathroom is perhaps the smallest room in our apartments. But this does not make it any less significant. The mood with which we leave it in the morning determines how our day will go, so it is very important to combine functionality and comfort in it. What do you need to know to renovate your bathroom in accordance with your chosen goals?

Basic stages of bathroom planning

Bathroom renovation is a responsible, lengthy and labor-intensive stage. It is necessary to carefully consider the layout and competently draw up a bathroom project in order to “forget” about construction work there for ten years. First, you need to take measurements of the bathroom, marking on the plan the location of all communications, drains and pipe entries. Secondly, consider the option of adding a toilet to the bathroom. Thus, it is possible to achieve an increase in the area of the room and its functionality.

Third, make a preliminary list of necessary equipment. Choose between a bathtub and a shower cabin, decide on the location of the washing machine (you can place it, for example, in the kitchen), decide whether a urinal or bidet is needed in the room.

Fourth, consider the possibility of transferring communications. Modern manufacturers offer many options for this: flexible water hoses, corrugated pipes and so on. With their help you can easily move your plumbing fixtures to a new location.

Among other things, replacing outdated pipes with new ones will help solve the problem of leaks. The technologies used to produce new pipes make them durable and easy to maintain.

In conclusion, it is necessary to prepare several projects for placing plumbing fixtures and furniture inside and, finally, select the appropriate one.

Number of bathrooms in residential premises

So how many bathrooms are needed in a room: two or one? Is it worth combining two rooms together? There is no clear answer. Everywhere has its pros and cons.

Positives:

  • Increasing the area of the bathroom.
  • Everything is in one room, there is no need to go to the bathroom after visiting the bathroom.
  • Reduce material costs for one wall.
  • There is scope for implementing bold design solutions.

Negatives combinations:

  • If the family is large, then there may be queues to use the bathroom.
  • Inconvenience of taking a bath near the toilet.
  • Demolition interior partition requires official permission, which is not always easy to obtain.

In any case, the decision will be yours; you just need to carefully weigh the pros and cons.

Space zoning and redevelopment

To increase the functionality of a room, designers use the zoning method, that is, dividing the space of a room depending on its purpose. According to this principle, a bathroom can be divided into three zones: an area for taking water treatments (bath, shower, sink), an area for personal hygiene and natural needs (toilet, urinal, bidet) and a utility area ( washing machine, cabinets for storing cleaning equipment).

Zoning can be done in different ways: combine plumbing fixtures and furniture for their intended purpose in one place or highlight an area using design techniques. These include the use of contrasting colors or finishing materials, multi-level ceilings and flooring, lighting. When remodeling, it is important to choose models of furniture and plumbing fixtures that allow you to use the space with maximum benefit. Engage the corners. Take a closer look at the corner bathtub and toilet - they take up less space, and functionality does not suffer from this.

Convenient too corner shelves and open shelves from stainless steel. You can place towels and other bath accessories on them.

Instead of a tandem of floor and wall cabinets It is better to use a tall pencil case. It is more spacious and, if desired, can act as a partition, separating the toilet from the water treatment area. In addition, the shape of the pencil case very successfully expands the space of the room.

Good result To expand the space in the bathroom, you can create additional structures. For example, a washing machine or sink can be hidden in a niche, and the installation of an additional partition will allow you to place a larger number of items.

Installation systems also allow you to save space in the bathroom - special structures that are used to secure a wall-hung toilet. Moreover, all systems are built into the wall, which means they are hidden from view.

Unusual design solutions in small bathrooms they also help solve the space problem. A bathtub installed diagonally or in the center of the room allows you to use free walls for installation additional furniture or plumbing.

Good idea- placement of the washing machine under the sink. This way you will have some free space. Be sure to read our article about this.

How to make a design project correctly

A huge help in redevelopment work will be a design project that takes into account all aspects: the size and configuration of the room, ceiling height, placement of communications and includes plans, drawings, selection and arrangement of furniture and equipment, accessories, as well as three-dimensional visualization of the interior . You can greatly simplify it, leaving only the most significant points. There are special programs for drawing up projects, but to do the work efficiently and without errors, professional experience and skills are required. It is difficult to understand such programs on your own and takes a lot of time.

The average person can be advised to use free online services that are available on the Internet. Most often they can be found on sites that sell ceramic tiles, they can also be used to calculate required quantity materials. The disadvantage of such programs is that they are more than modest functionality, they are designed for standard bathrooms.

Who can you trust to design your bathroom?

Based on the above, let us give ourselves advice to entrust the redevelopment to the masters. Mistakes made at the design stage can lead to irreparable consequences: the shower stall will not fit into its intended place, and the washing machine will not be able to be connected to the electrical network, because they forgot to make a socket. Special programs do not create the interior on their own; they are only a tool in the hands of a professional, designed to satisfy your desires in reality. Designers, with extensive experience, will find the most convenient, technically feasible solution for your bathroom.

The living minimum is a bath of about 3 square meters. meters

By properly thinking through the design of a small bathroom, designers can turn it into a functional space. Let's consider an option with the original dimensions of the bathroom being 1.5 m long and 1.37 m wide. In this case, you can combine it with a bathroom by dismantling the partition between them and blocking one doorway. The resulting room with an area of 2.9 m² can easily fit a toilet, a corner bathtub and a sink. You can choose it for your washbasin convenient wardrobe and there will be room for a washing machine and a tall cabinet.

We divide the space - bathroom 4 sq. m.

If you have a bathroom combined with a bathroom that is 2.5 m long and 1.6 m wide, then the space between the personal hygiene areas and the washing area can be divided using a partition. This layout involves replacing a regular bath with a shower cabin, which then leaves room for additional cabinets. In this project, the toilet and sink are installed directly next to the partition.

Bath 5.9 sq. meters - with shower and double sink

If you are the happy owner of a large bathroom with an area of as much as 5.9 m² and also a family man, then consider an interior design with two wash basins. First you need to remove the excess masonry next to the bathroom. This will allow you to place a washing machine there, and if you remove the closet, then there will be enough space for a shower stall. Now two family members can shower at the same time in the bathroom. Instead of a single washbasin, we install a double one. Such a project will be relevant in large families.

All at once - a bathroom with an area of 7.2 square meters. meters

This redevelopment is suitable for a room of 7.2 m² and aims to create an intimate corner for taking water treatments. The bathtub is placed in a corner and separated from the rest by a special translucent screen, which additionally serves as splash protection. In addition, space is freed up for installing cabinets or a washing machine. You can ditch the double sink in favor of a bidet or urinal and, if desired, hide them behind a partition.

Here you can choose between taking a shower or bathing, washing your face alone or in the company of your beloved family members. A bathtub is placed against the wall opposite the entrance, next to which there is also a shower stall. Instead of a single sink, a double sink is placed; to do this, you have to move it slightly deeper into the room. On the left behind the door there is a washing machine, and next to the shower stall there is a toilet.

Bathroom from 10.3 sq. meters - we use the large space wisely

The 10.3 m² bathroom has an additional niche. If you do correct placement, then in such a room you can easily organize a guest area. To do this, you will need to move the interior doorway and install three small partitions. This area houses a washbasin and toilet for guests. The entrance to the master bathroom can be made separate, or it can pass through the guest area - this will free up additional space for placing cabinets. The bathtub and washbasin for the owners are located on a raised platform, and the bathtub bowl is placed diagonally and recessed. This is the case when zoning is emphasized by different floor levels.
