The fundamental difference between croutons and crackers is that they are fried and not dried like crackers.

Another thing is that the methods for such heat treatment of croutons may be different depending on the recipe and your individual tastes.

  • fry the croutons in a frying pan, using both vegetable oil and animal fats;

3 Recipes for every taste

In fact, croutons made according to different recipes differ only in what is added to their base - the bread. It can be the simplest products and spices, or a complex set with culinary fantasies. Let's list the main additives (natural, of course) that can be used in preparing croutons for beer:

  1. Salt is the simplest, most accessible and unobtrusive seasoning for croutons: you can simply sprinkle them with salt before baking or frying, or you can moisten them with salt water or milk, which will make them softer.
  2. Garlic is an ideal seasoning in this case, since garlic croutons deservedly occupy one of the first places in the popular rating of beer snacks. You can simply rub the fried bread with a clove of garlic (this is especially convenient if you use large pieces of bread), you can grease them before baking with a special garlic sauce with the addition of vegetable oil, mustard and other spices, and you can also make excellent garlic croutons when you put them on the bread (on large chunks) first squeeze the garlic through a garlic press, stack the pieces in a pyramid, let them soak, periodically swapping them, and then, after cleaning off the excess garlic, cut to size and fry or bake.
