Drainage system - choose an option for water drainage

Several options are used to collect and drain water from the shower area. The cheapest and easiest is to use a siphon. When arranging a pallet, it is necessary to provide access to the structure so that it can be serviced. A more reliable and wear-resistant system for draining water from the shower is the installation of a drain. She takes less space in height. Modern solutions range from 85–120 mm and are capable of discharging 0.5–0.8 liters per second. The drain funnel is equipped with removable dirt traps, which are easy to remove and clean when clogged. It is also necessary to create a water seal that can protect against possible backflow of used water or sewage.

The ladder has a twin brother - this is a drainage channel. The tray is no different from the previous variation, except that it has a larger area for collecting water. To do this, use a metal or plastic gutter, which can drain up to 1.2 liters of water per second. Channels can be of two types: installed in the center of the shower or mounted in the wall. When preparing for installation, do not forget about waterproofing

After carrying out the waterproofing work, you can begin arranging the screed. Although beacons are used to form it, it is built with a bias towards the drain. To equip the base, solutions are purchased that contain special additives that have water-repellent properties. To save money, you can add to simple screed mixtures liquid glass or PVA glue. This will give the solution additional waterproofing properties.

When the concrete has set, you need to waterproof the base again. Perfect for this cement composition, since it has excellent adhesion to all types of tile coverings. To lay tiles, they also take water-repellent compounds and strictly follow the instructions for their preparation. After laying the tiles, the seams between the elements are filled with hydrophobic grout. Additionally, you can apply a special water-repellent varnish to the tiles and seams.

It is better to carry out such work at the stage of forming the bathroom screed. At this time, it is easiest to calculate the required height around the entire perimeter of the bathroom. The first step is to install a sewer system and lay all the necessary communications. A tray is cut to the required length, which is built into the wall or floor and securely attached to the surface. After this, a siphon is installed and all elements are connected to each other.

Along the perimeter of the area where it is planned to locate the shower stall, a box is built that will separate the area of ​​the future structure from the rest of the floor in the bathroom. This is done in order to bring the level of the main floor to zero. Before pouring the screed, it is recommended to additionally insulate the floor with polystyrene mats. The closer the cabin is to the wall, the easier it is to create a convenient communications system in it. Communications are usually carried out in the walls and floor. If the cabin is created after finishing the design of the room, you should calculate the connection points and make the cabin as close to them as possible. Insulation is technically impossible for options with curtains and without a tray. Water will get outside of it, so you should resort to sealing the bathroom.

All joints in tiles or panels are treated with antiseptic agents that prevent mold from developing. Otherwise, after a few years, the fungus and bacteria will be more difficult to remove - this is especially critical for a shower stall in a wooden house or in a country house, in a bathhouse.

Communications mean water supply and sewage disposal. In a private house, this should be thought out in advance, since pipes must be brought to the intended location at the stage of laying the primary communications of the building.

It is advisable to order glass prepared to size in advance, since there is a risk of breaking the entire panel when cutting or installing.
