Disassemble the plastic frame. How to disassemble a plastic window with your own hands. Removing window sashes

A metal-plastic double-glazed window has a very long service life - up to several decades, but nothing can protect the window from unforeseen force majeure. What to do if glass breaks or cracks? Replace the entire glass unit? Or will it be enough to replace the damaged element? And how to do this?

Of course, you can call specialists from the installer company and not bother with the work. But the process of dismantling and replacement is not particularly difficult. You will need a minimum of tools and skills.

So, how to parse plastic window yourself, and what should you know?

Modern window design

To understand how to properly dismantle a double-glazed window, you need to have an idea of what parts it consists of.

  • Frame. The basis of the frame is a metal profile, which plays the role of the frame of the entire system. It is to the frame that all fittings and glass are attached.
  • Double-glazed window. Old windows used a design based on the principle of one frame + one glass. IN modern system this is precisely a package of two or more glasses with a completely sealed space between them.

It consists of the following components: glass, spacers, layers of sealant.

  • Accessories. All the other smallest details that ensure operation: handles, locks, hinges, glazing beads and others.

It is when all these components are assembled that they represent a modern window system.

Causes of window damage

If cracks appear in the windows, then there are factors that caused this damage.

  1. The installation technology is broken.
  2. The parameters of the window opening were measured incorrectly.
  3. The window was transported and stored incorrectly.
  4. Strong pressure when opening and closing the doors.

The first two reasons are interrelated. The technology for installing new windows provides for the presence of gaps between the slopes and the frame. If they are not there, then the movements of the walls create pressure on the entire window system, which will gradually cause the glass to crack.

Transport and storage ensure correct positioning and no temperature changes.

If cracks appear, then it is necessary to replace the damaged elements.

Glass measurements

Before disassembling a plastic window, you need to order a new double-glazed window or glass. You will need their sizes.

It happens that some manufacturers indicate parameters on spacer bars, then you just need to place an order using these data.

If nothing is indicated on the glass unit itself, then using a tape measure, measure the distances between the inner edges of the frame. From the obtained result, 10 mm are subtracted - the tolerance for the seals. Based on the collected data, new elements are ordered.

Replacement of glass and double glazing

Replacing double-glazed windows in plastic windows is easier than replacing individual glasses. The space inside is usually completely sealed from outside air and moisture.

This is done for several reasons - for poor heat conductivity, and to avoid fogging of the glass unit from the inside.

If moisture gets inside during replacement, then as a result condensation will settle on the glass.

The work algorithm is carried out as follows.

If the glass on the opening sash is damaged, it must be removed. To do this, you need to pull out one pin on the top hinge at the bottom, and it will easily come off. After which the glass package is removed.

In the case of a blind (non-opening) window, you need to remove the entire package.

How to remove the glazing bead from a plastic window? In this process, they use a chisel, if necessary, you can lightly tap on it, and they can be easily removed. In this case, dismantling begins from the middle part, gradually moving to the ends. The initially long glazing beads for the windows are disconnected: left and right, and then the short ones - top and bottom.

How to remove a glass unit? For this purpose, it is advisable to use special suction cups with handles, which are usually used by repairmen. Or gently with your hands.

If the glass unit is very difficult to remove, then the frame may become distorted during operation. In this case, it will be very difficult to insert a new one, since the proportions of the entire window are disrupted!

How to replace a double-glazed window? This procedure is best carried out using special gaskets - “bridges”; they will ensure even fixation of the entire system.

When the glass package is installed, it is fixed with glazing beads, according to the reverse pattern: bottom, top, and left to right.

If the window is standing without any structural violations, the procedure will take no more than 20-30 minutes.

How to detach glass from a double glazing unit

Replacing glass in a plastic window is done according to the following procedure. The removed glass unit must be laid on a level surface. horizontal surface, a table or a pair of stools is best.

  1. Initially, the layer is cut to the spacer frame.
  2. The second cut is made directly between the glass and the frame.

After that broken glass easy to pull out.

At the same time, do not forget about safety; removing window elements and dismantling glass must be done with gloves!

Before installing new glass, you need to wipe the surface of the adjacent one. The easiest way to do this is with clean newspaper or a melamine sponge.

The new element also needs to be wiped, and if necessary, washed using detergent.

On the surface where installation will be carried out, cut off the remains of the old sealant at a slight angle.

The new glass is installed on the glass unit with the washed side inward. All edges are aligned exactly with the sides of the rest of the package.

Fastening is ensured by double-sided tape on the spacer frame.

When the glass is laid and glued, sealing is carried out by applying a new layer silicone sealant. Under no circumstances should acrylic sealants be used as they are sensitive to moisture.

A new layer is applied using a special gun, moving evenly from one edge to the other.

After the sealant has dried, all ends of the glass unit are glued with regular tape. The updated package is mounted back on the frame.

In principle, the answer to the question of how to remove a double-glazed window from a plastic window is simple. You will need a minimum of tools and equipment, and the process itself, if the technology is followed, will take a maximum of 30 minutes.

Thanks to its durability, high strength and reliability, plastic double glazed windows- This best solution among the existing window designs today. In this regard, they have become widespread throughout the world. However, sometimes even such reliable structures require repair or replacement, for example, due to wear and tear of a double-glazed window or unexpected breakage of windows. In this case, it is necessary to dismantle the plastic window, but this is not easy for an inexperienced person to do. Therefore, to facilitate the process, it is better to use the services of professionals. If for some reason it is not possible to turn to specialists for help, you can dismantle the double-glazed windows yourself.

In order to do the job efficiently and make it as convenient as possible, you will need the following set of tools:

  • spatula;
  • screwdriver set;
  • hammer;
  • nail puller;
  • hacksaw;
  • chisel;
  • hammer drill and screwdriver;
  • small scrap.

Before you start dismantling the double-glazed windows with your own hands, you need to prepare the room, for this purpose carpets, furniture, household appliances and other things should be taken out of the room and access to the place of work should be provided. It is advisable to cover large furniture that cannot be removed plastic film. This will protect it from dust during work.

You also need to remove flower pots and other items from the windowsill. Remove curtains and curtains from the curtain rod. Then you can get to work.

Removing old double-glazed windows

For faster results and trouble-free dismantling of the window structure with your own hands, you should perform all actions in a certain sequence. First of all, it is necessary to free the window from the slopes, then remove the sashes. Then dismantle window frame, low tide and dismantle the window sill.

The first step is to free the window from the slopes. There will be no problems if the window has overhead plastic slopes. In this case, we simply carefully disassemble the structure using a screwdriver or screwdriver. If the slopes are plastered, you should use a chisel and a hammer.

Removing window sashes

To remove the flaps, you will need a large flathead screwdriver or chisel, pliers and a hammer. Next, you need to perform actions in the following sequence:

  1. Place the window sash in the open position. Moreover, you should pay attention to top part window, you need to remove it.
  2. Using a hammer and a small screwdriver, you need to carefully knock the spindle (rotary shaft) out of the loop.
  3. After this, you should pull the window sash towards you and up and, thus, you need to free it from the fastenings.

In the event that due to installed slopes It is impossible to knock out the rotary shaft from above using a screwdriver; it must be pulled out from below with pliers. To do this, you need to press on it from above so that it is more convenient to grab the edge of the spindle with pliers.

Removing the rotary shaft

In order to install the sash back into the frame, you need to put the lower hinge on one spindle, then on the second upper one and secure the structure. If the structure cannot be installed manually, you can use a hammer.

Sawing the frame

To ensure that the process of removing the panels does not cause difficulties, it is necessary to make cuts in the double-glazed window. You should make two cuts in width and three in height. To do this, you can use an ordinary hacksaw. Experts do not recommend using a grinder for this purpose, so as not to clog the work space.

Removing the window frame

In order to dismantle the frame with your own hands, you can use a small crowbar or a hammer drill with a suitable attachment.

If the structure is secured with self-tapping screws, they should be unscrewed and parts of the frame should be removed; if this is not possible, they can be pulled out using a nail puller. Polyurethane foam should be cut at the joints of the frame; for this it is best to use a shoe knife. Then you need to remove the frame.

Dismantling the frame

Removing the window sill and ebb

Removal of the tide must be done with care so as not to damage the structure. To dismantle the ebb with your own hands, you must first unscrew all the screws and then forcefully separate it from the mounting foam. Then you can start removing the window sill.

Removing the window sill is quite simple. Since the window sill is often secured using polyurethane foam, it should be separated from the sealant by force. If the size of the window sill is large, it should be removed, moving towards the edges from the middle of the structure.

Dismantling of fittings

In order to avoid damage to the structure, all protruding parts should be removed. This category includes mesh slots, locking mechanism handles, blind handles and other parts. To do this, you can use a screwdriver or screwdriver. It is recommended to store all details in one place, having previously signed each detail. This will help in the future to make out “what’s what”, but if in the case of the handle of the locking mechanism everything is clear, then it is still better to mark the remaining parts with a marker.

Replacing glass in a double glazing unit

If you need to remove glass from window sashes with your own hands, you must perform the following steps:

Finishing work

Any renovation work occur with the formation of large amounts of construction waste and dust. Removing a glass unit is no exception. Therefore, it is recommended to thoroughly clean the room immediately after completing all work.

Regarding the surface on which it was installed window design: it should be plastered and then cleaned of all kinds of irregularities. This will make the process of installing new windows much easier.

If this work This is done by specialists and will take no more than an hour to dismantle the windows. An inexperienced master will need much more time, so if possible, it is better to use the services of professionals. However, if you decide to do the work yourself, then the above instructions will help you remove plastic windows without unexpected breakdowns and with maximum ease. But in this case, it is recommended to remember about safety precautions; you should also carry out all repair work using special safety glasses and gloves.

Have you ever thought that plastic windows installed once and for all in your apartment are not so eternal? Turns out, various mechanisms Windows need careful care and timely replacement, which requires partial disassembly of the window.

However, don’t rush to grab your tools! Remember that you need to resort to these actions only if you are firmly convinced that there is a problem with the operation of your window. You should also understand that it is significant, therefore, when disassembling the window you need to act carefully and very carefully!

Before starting to disassemble the window, it is recommended think carefully about your decision(watch the video clips below and decide if you can do a similar sequence of actions yourself), and also adequately assess your strength and ability to put the plastic window back together. Agree, no one wants to end up disrupting the functionality of the window by getting, as a result of their own activities, torn strips on the profile, etc.

Despite the variety of plastic windows, the following principle for disassembling a window is suitable for any model.

So, what do you need to stock up on before disassembling a plastic window? Tools you will need:

  • screwdriver;
  • sharp knife;
  • chisel;
  • spatula;
  • rubber suction cups;
  • cotton gloves.

The process of removing a window sash.

When starting to disassemble the window, you need to remove the desired sash. It is quite difficult to do this alone, so it would be nice to have a partner. To remove the sash, you need to get to the metal rod that is covered plastic cover(it's easy to remove). After removing the rod, set it aside.

If the window seal is not broken, the glazing beads holding the glass unit should not be touched. Well, carefully remove the glazing beads using a knife, chisel or spatula, inserting the tool of your choice between the glazing bead and the sash. This window element is very easy to damage, so you need to work with tools very carefully. Remember that plastic window elements damaged during disassembly cannot be replaced! First, the side and longest spatulas are removed, after which the bottom one is removed, and only at the very end - the top one.

Analysis of window beads.

How do you remove glazing beads? It is necessary to insert the knife into the groove between the bead itself and window frame and with translational movements, slightly turning the tool clockwise, move along the perimeter of the entire bead from bottom to top.

These movements must be carried out until the groove part of this part comes out of window profile. After this, the bead is removed by hand and set aside. Using a rubber suction cup fixed to the glass unit, remove it, holding it on the suction cup. If you do not find rubber suction cups, remove the glass unit with your hands, after putting on cotton gloves.

Important! You should only remove the glass unit after you have removed the last glazing bead to avoid damage.

The next step is removal. This stage will not require much effort from you. However, it’s worth stocking up first plastic bag, in which it will be convenient to fold small components of the window. Unscrew the rotary window handle (this is the first thing that can be easily removed), unscrew all the screws.

Using a screwdriver, disconnect all parts that act as locking mechanisms. Remember that some components are covered with plastic covers that will need to be lifted. Also try to lay out or write down all the window parts you removed in the order in which they were removed. This will help you avoid confusion when reassembling the window.

Dismantling of fittings.

The last stage of window disassembly is the dismantling of double-glazed windows, which consists of two or three glasses glued together with a special sealant. This step requires special attention and effort.

So, first you need to remove the spacers that hold the glass unit in the sash. To remove a double-glazed window, you need to release the expansion gasket on which the package itself is located. This procedure is performed with a regular knife.

The process of removing a glass unit.

You need to insert a knife or metal spatula into the gap between the double-glazed window and the window sash, and then squeeze out the bag. Using the same knife, remove the glass unit.

To finally disassemble the glass unit, use a knife to carefully remove all layers of sealant, moving one by one, until you reach the metal frame. The knife must be used carefully, otherwise you may damage the glass.

Dismantling plastic windows is a process that the owner of any home faces at least once in his life. Most often, this action must be performed when replacing old windows with new ones or when replacing a damaged profile; Often, after purchasing an apartment, plastic windows from the developer are immediately replaced with more expensive, thicker and higher quality ones. Even if you are not going to do the work yourself, knowing how it should be done will not hurt.

Which windows to choose?

Depends on the needs of the owner, the climate characteristics of the region in which the construction site is located. If you live in a warm region, then there is no point in installing too thick double-glazed windows: this will make repairs more expensive, but will not add practical benefit.

When choosing a window, you should not skimp on quality, because if you consider how much it costs to dismantle a window and then purchase a new one, the difference will not be in the most favorable direction. It turns out that buying something more expensive right away, but quality window more profitable.

For middle zone In Russia and more northern cities, it is recommended to use triple glazing or a product of greater thickness. Of course, you need to focus on price and quality. Modern windows made of PVC serve for quite a long time, at least 50 years, therefore, by immediately choosing a high-quality and stylish design, you will ensure comfortable accommodation for many years.

If you already have plastic windows installed, but are not satisfied with their design or color, you do not necessarily have to dismantle the plastic window and replace it with another one. You can use a variety of films or paints and refresh the frame, adapting it to the desired interior style. Glasses are also replaced individually.

How is dismantling done?

not the most difficult task, especially if you do not need to keep the window intact. Do-it-yourself dismantling of plastic windows is quite accessible if you have a suitable set of tools, a little theoretical knowledge and enough time.

It is more convenient to do any work together. Plastic structures have an impressive weight, and one person cannot always handle them.

Like any other work, dismantling and installation must begin with preparatory stage. Please note that when removing the window there will be a lot of dust and debris, so in advance you need to not only clear access to the window opening by removing all obstructive furniture, but also, if possible, remove interior items from the room or at least cover them with a protective film. It is better to remove carpets and other surfaces that can easily absorb dust from the room.

List of tools that will be required for work:

  • A utility knife or any sharp kitchen knife.
  • Spatula.
  • Chisel.
  • Several screwdrivers.
  • Small crowbar.
  • Screwdriver.
  • Hammer or powerful drill.
  • Hacksaw for metal.
  • Chisel.
  • Hammer and pliers.

First stage of work

First of all, regardless of which plastic windows are planned to be dismantled (fixed or opening), it is necessary to remove the double-glazed window from the frame. This will not only make the work easier, making the window much lighter, but will also make it safer. If the glass unit is of no value, is damaged, or you plan to cut the frame and throw it away, you can simply knock it out, but this will lead to small glass falling on the floor. It will be difficult to get rid of them, so in any case it is recommended to carefully remove the structure.

If the window has opening sashes, they must be removed. To do this you will need to unwind the loop; this is not difficult to do - you need to remove decorative overlay from the hinge, then unscrew the adjusting bolt and release the element. It’s more convenient to start with the bottom one, then unscrew the top one. In order for the sash to be removed, it needs to be lifted up slightly. This method of removing a PVC window will not only make the structure lighter and make it easier to remove, but will also eliminate the need to adjust the window if you mount it somewhere else.

If the hinges have a design that does not allow the sash to be released in the specified way, simply unscrew the entire hinge from the frame and remove it along with the sash: usually the structure is held on by self-tapping screws.

Dismantling a window, if it is solid, is carried out according to the same principle, but since the sashes do not open, you just need to pull out the double-glazed window. To do this, you need to pull out the beads that secure it. The longest one, located on the side of the room, is pulled out first. To make it convenient to remove these elements, you can use a small spatula, the edges of which are rounded. You need to start working from the middle of the window. After you press the bead out a little, you will have a gap, thanks to which the element can be easily pulled out. You will be able to remove the glass unit.

If you have mounting suction cups, it is better to pull out the glass unit with their help.

The next stage of work

Dismantling metal-plastic window You can start after removing the glass unit. To do this you will need to knock down the plaster around it; if the window slopes are not plastered, but are made of removable material, they simply need to be unscrewed.

The window sill ebb is attached to self-tapping screws, so you need to unscrew them, and then you can tear off the ebb and the window sill itself.

How is the frame attached and how to dismantle it?

Knowing how much it costs to dismantle a plastic window, and this amount is approximately the same as installation, many owners remove the windows themselves. To dismantle the frame, you will need to study how it is secured. If the product is supported by anchor connections and plates, then they will need to be unscrewed or torn off without damage to the structure. The polyurethane foam needs to be removed: you can use a hacksaw for this. After all the fastening elements have been removed, the frame can be pryed with a crowbar (it is more convenient to do this in the middle of the lower part) and pulled out of the window opening.

WITH The cost of dismantling windows is not too high, but it is quite possible to save on the service by doing everything yourself. Carrying out the work yourself is not so difficult, given that it does not require complex tools or special skills.

It is quite possible to repair glass panes with your own hands if you know their basic structure and the basic technology of their manufacture.

It should be noted right away that many users call the entire window a double-glazed window, including glass, frame, and fittings, but this is not entirely true. Actually, a double-glazed window is a structure of two or more glasses, which are fastened along the contour using sealants and spacers. Install it yourself, without special tool and equipment is quite difficult, but it is no less important to correctly install the finished double-glazed window into an existing frame.

However, knowing full well that when writing a search query about double-glazed window repair, many have in mind the whole window unit made of PVC and, accordingly, hope to get an answer to all questions, let’s expand the topic somewhat. Will be considered different nodes and PVC window mechanisms so that owners are aware of possible breakdowns, which often arise during operation.

Double-glazed window design

The structure of a double-glazed window, in the correct understanding of this term, is somewhat reminiscent of the structure of an aquarium, only “packed” not from three, but from all four sides. A double-glazed window can consist of one, two or even three chambers, as it is designed for installation in different regions with individual characteristics climate.

Chambers are the compartments between glass, respectively glass two, three or four can be installed.

The glasses have a certain distance between them, which is determined by a spacer metal-plastic or metal strip, onto which they are glued on both sides with a sealant.

This spacer bar comes in different widths - the wider it is, the larger the air space between the glasses. This structural element is perforated with small holes - they are necessary to ensure that moisture does not collect inside the chambers and the glass does not fog up. The rail can be easily seen on already installed windows.

Inside, the spacer rail is filled with a desiccant, which does not allow it, since it absorbs moisture well. The end part of the glass unit is filled with sealant - this layer is 10 ÷ 15 mm.

Made in a professional way the glass block is filled with an inert gas, such as krypton or argon, or dried air with a certain vacuum. The gas filling has a higher density than air, so such windows have higher thermal and sound insulation characteristics.

For the manufacture of double-glazed windows, glass of various thicknesses is used - this must be indicated in the product labeling.

So, for example, the designation 4- 10- 4 -10 -4 indicates that this is a two-chamber double-glazed window with a glass thickness of 4 mm and a distance between them of 10 mm. A more complex formula, for example 6- 10-4 16 A r—4 i speaks that we have a special double-glazed window with external thickened glass, 6 mm, first air chamber 10 mm, medium glass 4 mm, gas-filled chamber (argon) 16 mm and energy-saving glass type “i” 4 mm thick.

Is it possible to assemble a double-glazed window yourself?

This question often arises in cases where one of the glasses of the installed window unit has been broken. If you approach the assembly process with special care and accuracy, and have the appropriate size material and tools for the job, then it is quite possible to assemble a double-glazed window yourself, although this task cannot be called simple.

To work, you need to have the following tools and devices on hand:

— distance slats and linings;

- rubber or plastic hammer;

- wide chisel;

- shoe knife;

- a special plastic spatula;

- glass suction cup;

- glass cutter;

- wooden ruler 1.0 ÷ 1.5 meters.

Removing double glazed windows

Before making a new double-glazed window, you need to dismantle the old one with the broken glass.

The glass unit is fixed in the middle of the frame using glazing beads, and in order to pull it out, they need to be dismantled. This is not difficult to do.

  • For this process, the tools you will need are a wide and sharp chisel. It is installed in the center of the vertical side of the glass unit, in the gap between the bead and the frame, and gently hit with a plastic or rubber hammer.
  • When the glazing bead begins to move away from the frame at a distance of 5 ÷ 7 mm, it can then be detached by hand.

  • Then, the upper horizontal bead is dismantled - you can start tapping it from the corner.
  • Next, the second vertical and then the lower horizontal beads are removed.
  • To remove the glass unit from the frame, you need to wear thick gloves on your hands, as it may have sharp edges and there is a high probability of serious injury. If one of the glasses is broken, then the glass unit can be pulled out using a suction cup, installing it in the middle of the whole glass.

  • The suction cup is installed on the glass, fixed, and then using its handle you need to carefully pull the glass unit towards you and pull it out of the frame.

Self-production of double-glazed windows

To make a double-glazed window you will need following materials:

- glass required thickness(at least 4 mm);

- spacer or spacer;

— primary sealant (butyl) and secondary (polysulfide, polyurethane);

- loose desiccant.

The manufacturing work consists of several stages. The first of these, of course, is preparing the venue.

  • For the convenience of the process, you will need a reliable, sufficient large table, with perfect flat surface, covered with dense soft material, for example, felt.
  • Next, the glass is measured. The measurement is taken from the old double-glazed window, and if this is not possible, then the inner edges of the frame are measured vertically and horizontally, minus 1 ÷ 2 mm on each side.

One of the most crucial moments is precise glass cutting
  • The cut on the glass must be perfect, so you need to purchase a good one that can easily cope with this task.

"Quick cutter" allows for precise and accurate cutting large canvases glass
  • If the glass required is large enough, then to fit it to right size It is best to use a roller quick cutter.
  • Having prepared everything necessary, the glass is placed on the table, the measurements are transferred to it and the quick cutter is installed. Its roller version is convenient because it allows you to make a perfectly even cut, since the stop will not allow the cutting element to slip.

Roller “quick cutter” allows you to perfectly accurately maintain the size
  • It is recommended to carefully treat the edges of the cut glass with a stone with an abrasive surface (“diamond dust”), which will help protect your hands from damage.
  • When required glass will be cut and properly processed, it must be washed well, or even better, treated with glass cleaner. Particular attention should be paid to internal surfaces glass, since it will no longer be possible to clean them later.
  • The next step is preparing the remote slats. You can try to use slats from an old double-glazed window, cutting them off the glass along with the sealant, but you will need to completely free them from the applied mass. If this cannot be done due to damage to one of the sides, then taking the dimensions is quite possible, and it is not difficult to make from them new frame from perforated slats.

The frame should be 4-7 mm smaller than the glass size, that is, the glass should extend beyond its edges. This distance will subsequently be sealed with secondary sealant.

  • The internal cavities of the perforated spacer frames are filled three-quarters with a desiccant, which is most often used granulated silica gel.

  • To prevent the material from spilling out on the other side, a special corner is immediately installed in the cavity of the slats, which will become connecting element and will help bring out a perfectly right angle from the vertical and horizontal slats.

  • After installing two separate slats, an angle of 90 degrees should be obtained.

  • Butyl is glued to the ends of the frame. protective tapefilm, which will be removed before attaching the glass to it.

Butyl tape - self-adhesive
  • The glass is placed on a prepared, perfectly clean table, onto which the finished frame needs to be glued evenly. Here you can resort to a little trick - on the glass, using a ruler, using a corrector, make marks for the overlay of the frame, along its outer side - then it will be easy to erase these marks.

  • Before laying the frame on the glass, remove the adhesive tape from the bottom. protective film. The frame is installed strictly according to the marks and pressed lightly to obtain fixation.

  • It is recommended to make the same markings on the glass that will be glued on top of the frame, since unequal placement of the glass relative to the frame is unacceptable. The edges of the glass should extend beyond the edges of the frame identically.

  • The top protective layer is removed from the sealing tape, and the second glass is placed on the frame exactly according to the markings.
  • If you plan to make a two-chamber bag, then the gluing process is repeated.
  • When all the glass is assembled into a double-glazed unit, it is necessary to carefully crimp the glass to form a reliable adhesion to the butyl tape - this will be the primary sealing contour.
  • The next step is to fill the remaining cavity between the glasses along the entire perimeter of the double-glazed window with polyurethane, thiacol or polysulfide - thereby forming a second sealing contour.

This process is carried out using a spatula or a construction syringe. The sealant should completely fill the cavity without any small air pockets or cracks.

Drying of this contour usually lasts 8-14 hours, and after hardening it should look like rubber. Next, the smudges are cleaned up, and the quality of hardening and filling is checked.

Installation of double-glazed windows

  • Now all that remains is to install the double-glazed window into the frame. To prevent the glass from coming into contact with the rigid material of the frame, fit into the groove in it. On the one side is installed rubber seal around the entire perimeter.

Sealing for double-glazed windows - located along the entire perimeter of the frame
  • Next, rubber pads are placed on the vertical walls and on the horizontal base of the frame - they will soften the contact of the end sides of the glass with the plastic of the window profile.

  • Then, the finished double-glazed window is installed in the frame on pads, leveling it.

  • The exposed package must be pressed with glazing beads, having previously installed a rubber seal in them.
  • Hammer the bead into the groove using a rubber or plastic hammer, which will not damage the plastic surfaces.

Typical breakdowns of PVC windows and how to fix them

During operation, various breakdowns of the installed fittings may occur, which leads to difficulties in the functioning of its various components. Therefore, efforts have to be made to restore them normal operation. The most common malfunctions are:

- sagging of the sashes;

— violation of the pressing function of the sash;

— replacement or repair of the handle;

— replacement of the seal if normal sealing is disrupted;

— opening the sash in two positions at once.

The elimination of most of these deficiencies can rather be called adjustment measures rather than repairs, but how they are carried out is still worth knowing for everyone who has them installed. For this work, the tools you will need are a screwdriver, a screwdriver, and a 4 mm hex key.

1. Adjustment according to verticals.

To adjust the vertical position of the sash, lowering it or raising it, the first thing you need to do is remove the decorative plastic trim from the bottom hinge. Next, a hex key is installed in its upper adjustment groove and turned to the right if you need to raise the sash and to the left if you need to lower it. The key is turned gradually, and after each turn the sash must open and close in order to evaluate the result of the adjustment.

2. Adjusting the lower angle of the sash according to horizontal.

If one of the lower corners of the sash sags, the same lower canopy is used for adjustment, only the adjustment is carried out using the side adjusting screw. Turns are made to the right or left, depending on which corner needs to be aligned horizontally.

3. Adjustment of the sash horizontally when it sags.

If it is necessary to adjust the horizontal position of the sash when it is sagging, use the adjustment groove located in the upper part of the frame on the canopy side. The hex key is turned in the same way as the adjustments described above, with a mandatory intermediate check of each action - closing and opening the sash until it is tightened to normal.

Adjusting the sash pressure when blowing, or when transferring from summer mode to winter and vice versa, is done by changing the position of the eccentric pivot pin.

This element is located on the end side of the window, and the process of adjusting it is also carried out with a hexagon.

The figure clearly shows the position and movement of the trunnions, in different options their execution.

Weak or normal sash pressure is set to summer period, and strong pressure - for the cold season.

5. Adjustment of the sash with a shift to the right or left.

Adjustment "left - right" of the bottom of the sash is carried out in its open state, through the groove located with inside canopy Turning the key to the left moves the door to the right, and vice versa. The check is also carried out after each turn.

6. It happens that when opening the sash, it is in the tilting and rotating position at the same time. This often happens if a frame with an opening in two positions is installed.

A fairly common problem is the simultaneous opening of a window in two planes

If this happens, it is necessary to install the sash vertically and press the upper part of the frame against the canopy. Without closing it completely, you need to install the handle horizontally, as if it were turned in the open position of the sash.

If the handle blocker installed at the end of the door prevents it from turning, you need to correct it with your finger. Next, you need to close the sash, as usual, by turning the handle down. Then, you just need to open and close the sash in different positions - it should fall into place and work normally.

7. Handle jamming.

If the sash handle is jammed in its open position, you need to disable the lock, which is installed to prevent the window from breaking, when reinstalling it in different positions, if the process happens too quickly. When the window is opened to the tilt position, the lock is activated and prevents the handle from turning.

Blockers from different companies are different, but, basically, to deal with them, you don’t need to carry out complex operations. Usually it is enough to press this element against the seal or adjust it with your finger, and at the same time turn the handle.

In other cases, the blocker, for various reasons, may slip past the response mechanism. In order to resolve the issue in this case, you need to find at the end of the sash the very mechanism that the blocker should have caught on to. Then they unscrew the screws on it and place a thin plastic lining under it. After this you need to check its operation. Usually such a gasket is enough for the clutch to work properly.

8. Replacing the handle.

Dismantling the old handle and installing a new one is carried out if this element is broken, loosened, or it needs to be replaced with another one, for example, with a built-in lock. Such an improvement is simply necessary if the apartment has small child. And making a replacement is quite simple.

To do this, you need to open the screws that secure the handle to the frame. They are hidden under a decorative plate located under the handle. Turning it, open two screws for a shaped screwdriver.

By unscrewing them and pulling the handle towards you, it is easy to dismantle it. A new one is installed in its place, and you can fasten it with the same screws.

Next, the decorative plate is rotated into place - and the work is completed. As can be seen from the description, the replacement process is very simple - it is quite accessible to anyone who knows how to use a screwdriver.

9. Difficulty turning the handle.

Difficulty turning the handle can occur for various reasons, for example, misalignment or sagging of the sash. In addition, the cause may be old, caked-on lubricant in the turning mechanism.

You need to start from the very beginning simple process- with lubricant, which must be applied to the turning mechanism and turn the handle in one direction or the other. It is applied from a bottle with a thin tube, so the composition will reach the farthest corners of the serviced unit. The product must be applied from the end side of the frame.

If nothing has changed, you may need to adjust the sash, but first you need to determine which side needs to be adjusted. To do this, it is closed and determined by eye, and adjusted according to the above instructions.

10. Replacing the seal.

Another event that has to be carried out in cases where a draft appears. This often becomes possible due to the fact that the seals are outdated, have lost their elasticity and have ceased to function normally.

The seal lasts on average about 7 ÷ 10 years, but if it begins to dry out or cracks appear on the surface, then it’s time to replace it.

First, you need to measure the length of the old seal to know how much you will need to purchase.

When a new seal has already been purchased, the old one is removed from the grooves. The grooves must be thoroughly rinsed and dried. Then, the seal is inserted into them and pressed until it stops. It cannot be stretched or compressed - it must be in its natural state.

11. Elimination of glass unit distortion.

One more possible disadvantage– misalignment of the insulating glass unit in the profile of the installed frame. How to fix this is clearly shown in the attached video.

All repair work, and even more so adjustment, can be carried out independently, saving a decent amount, but for this you need to have free time and opportunities. However, if you have absolutely no idea how to work with the tools and the materials mentioned, then it is better to entrust this process to craftsmen who have repeatedly encountered similar problems.
