What types of interior doors are best to choose? How to choose interior doors - tips on selecting material and filler. Which interior doors are best to choose?

Currently interior doors have not only the function of protection from prying eyes, drafts, odors and noise, but also have aesthetic beauty. Thanks to coloring, door panels create harmony with the overall interior, give a special atmosphere and even affect mood and well-being. Therefore, it is so important to assess the situation in the room and choose the right color for the interior doors.

Popular colors

Doors almost always change the overall interior of a room beyond recognition due to their shade. Today, interior products are divided into light, dark and unusual colors:

  • Light shades. The most popular light shades are soft gray, snow white, ash, ivory and beech. Such doors are a universal option that harmonizes with any interior.

Such popularity is understandable, because light-colored door leaves visually enlarge the room, create the effect of festivity, elegance and at the same time lightness and comfort. All of these tones have a positive effect on psychological health and mood.

If for some reason light-colored interior doors seem faceless and boring, then it is recommended to purchase products with additional elements. For example, patterns made of gilding, bronze, glass inserts or unusual handles.

  • Dark shades. Popular dark shades include brown, black, wenge, chestnut, and dark oak. These colors give the room sophistication, modernity and presentability. They attract the eye and become the central piece of the interior.

It should be noted that dark shades should not be purchased for a small room or office. Because thanks to such door panels, the rooms become gloomy and cramped.

  • Unusual tones. Fans of bold solutions will appreciate interior products in original colors. For example, a bright red door gives a unique vintage style, and also makes the overall interior of the room harmonious. Elegant and graceful blue easily fits into the classics, and bright, rich yellow lifts your spirits and fights blues.

For a long time, door leaves were not considered an important item in an apartment or house, but now, when construction market appears wide range models, people pay more attention to shades, textures and additional door decors.

Correct and unusual combinations with floors, walls and furniture with decor will highlight the design and create a harmonious space.

With floor

Very often, the owners of an apartment or office select the shade of the product, focusing on laminate, linoleum and others. floor coverings. In this case, a single color scheme will be considered the most interesting and winning position. But if the room has a white or gray ceiling and the floor is quite dark, then the door should be purchased one or two shades lighter than the covering, thereby smoothing out the style of the room.

An interesting combination is mahogany parquet or linoleum and an interior door with a slight shade of red. It also happens that the tiles, laminate or linoleum and the entire furnishings in the apartment are quite light. In this case, the door product also needs to be purchased in a light shade. For example, alder, beech, ash, ivory. If it seems that the style is nondescript and boring, then the door must be diluted with elements made of wood, plastic or glass.

It is also worth noting that the interior door separates two rooms, which may have floor coverings of completely different colors. Ideal option in such apartments is the installation of door products, trim and skirting boards in cold shades. It can be walnut, beech, natural oak.

With walls

When choosing a shade door leaf The walls in the room also play an important role. Interesting combinations can be either a complete match of the color of the wallpaper or paint with the doors, or contrast. In addition, you can install a product that differs slightly in color from the walls. For example, a door leaf that is one tone darker than the wallpaper will stand out and create a special mood.

Creative individuals can afford to be bold color solutions. For example, if the paint on the walls bright colors, then it is best to choose completely white doors. This interior will look fresh and stylish.

With furniture

Among most designers, the technique of complete combination or contrast of doors and furniture is very often used. One of the most unusual solutions is a veneered door leaf that has two different shades on each side. This is necessary when both rooms are completely opposite in style and shades. This product is made only to order and costs a fairly decent amount.

How to choose?

Making the right choice in favor of one color or another can sometimes be very difficult and many people turn to specialists for help. But it also happens that you have to make a decision yourself. In this case, before purchasing, you should familiarize yourself with some factors that influence the right choice.

It is worth paying attention to:

  • Flooring color.
  • The shade of wallpaper or wall paint.
  • Furniture and accessories.
  • General style of the room.
  • Color of baseboards and platbands.
  • Window frames.

Having analyzed the rules, it is necessary to make a choice of shade so that it either contrasts with the decor or is approximately combined with it. There are also universal tips for choosing door leaves. They will come in handy when it is difficult to decide and dare to make an expensive purchase.

If you decide to focus on the shade of the furniture, then it is best to take a closer look at the matte finishes of the doors. Such models will suit absolutely any situation. Light shades such as ash, ivory and beige are quite practical. After all, the stains, dirt and dust present on them are not noticeable. In addition, such models are ideally combined with original handles and various textured inserts.

Dark doors add sophistication to the room and attract everyone's attention. But before buying such shades, you should know that small room they will not fit, and dirt and various defects are very noticeable on dark products. If door products from rooms open into the same hall, then it is best to install them the same in style, color, texture and decor. This way, the unified perception of the room will not be disrupted.

All world designers advise, in addition to walls, floors and furniture, to pay attention to the style of the room. After all, it is general view room or office will correctly determine which shade is worth purchasing and which one is better to refuse:

  • For example, to styles art deco, loft, eclecticism, hi-tech, minimalism and other modern trends, original door leaves in black or silver colors are ideal. As well as more common shades of wenge and dark oak. But it is worth noting that for high-tech it is best to purchase models without any inserts or lush patterns.

  • Country, eclectic and modern Perfectly coordinates with warm-colored products. Such unusual and bright directions will be decorated with beech or ash door leaves with glass or plastic inserts. For bold options, it is recommended to purchase models with colorful patterns and sinuous lines.

  • Baroque stands out for its pomp, wealth and luxury. Therefore, the doors must be selected accordingly. For example, massive light products made of natural wood with artistic carvings and gilded decor.
  • Classic implies a certain severity and richness, so it is best to install models in light walnut or light oak color in such a room. The main thing is that the interior doorway includes laconic decorative elements or glass inserts.

  • Ecostyle, as the name suggests, suggests the presence of only natural materials and shades. Therefore, wooden door panels are installed unpainted and untreated.
  • IN rustic or Japanese The design may contain neutral shades, which will also fit perfectly into any interior. For example, tones such as walnut, alder, oak and cherry.
  • In an apartment with a direction country or Provence designers recommend inserting original doors light colors with an aging effect.

If there is a large amount of metal in the room, then you should give preference to gray models.

Recently, in Europe and America, experts have suggested not combining canvases with different styles in the interior with floors, walls and furnishings. They advise purchasing models in neutral shades, for example, oak, beech, white, cream or gray colors. And in order to create a harmonious and complete picture, you need to add the same baseboards and trim to the room.

In any case, in the world of design there are no strict criteria by which it is necessary to acquire this or that shade. It all depends on a person’s taste, his imagination and sense of harmony. And this is considered more important than rules and prohibitions.

Reading time ≈ 11 minutes

If you are interested in how to do it correctly, then you should definitely listen to the advice of professionals. Any of the specialists, of course, will first of all ask for what purpose you are purchasing this door, and where the door will be installed (meaning the free area of the room and the degree of humidity in the room). Aspects of sound insulation are also important, that is, whether high-quality noise protection is needed or whether it will be more of a decorative accessory.

Types of interior doors

All interior doors differ primarily in the way they open. In second place is the design of the canvas, the material from which it is made, the presence of glazing or mirrors and, of course, the cost of the product.

Swing doors

These doors are the most popular all over the world.

Probably 99% of the world's population are familiar with this method of opening canvases - only those who do not know are those who use some kind of woven fabric to close the passage. A swing door can be double or single, have a left or right opening, and as additional elements equipped with transparent or grooved glazing, as well as one or more mirrors.

The design consists of two main parts - a box fixedly fixed in the opening and an opening and closing panel (sometimes there are two of them). In addition, there are two pairs of hinges (for interior closing one door is usually no longer used), a handle, a lock or a latch - the last three elements can be made as a single mechanism. After installation, platbands are usually installed on both sides around the perimeter of the box, but if the wall is thick, then slopes are made on one side. The main advantage in this case is the relatively good sound insulation qualities.

Sliding doors

Interior sliding transparent doors with frosted glazing

Sliding-type structures are also called sliding doors (if they have one leaf) or sliding doors, regardless of the number of leaves, and this is correct in any case, given how they work. In this case, the canvases move suspended on rollers, and at the bottom there are only guides that constantly help maintain a vertical position. This method of opening allows you to save usable area indoors.

In cases where two canvases are used, they can only move in different directions, which is not always convenient - the opening may be too close to the adjacent wall. The situation can be easily corrected if you install only one canvas - here you can set the direction in any direction. In most cases, door handles are not installed on the same leaf, since they are opened and closed by pushing the hand in the desired direction. Main negative quality sliding doors can be called an almost complete lack of sound insulation due to poor connection to the wall.

Folding doors

Folding interior doors

Folding canvases are also called a book or an accordion, and all three names fit well - you can pay attention to the photo above. The canvases here can consist not only of two, but also of four parts, moving apart in different directions by folding. Movement here is carried out along a guide rail using special silent bearings, which is important for a living space.

Such a door can be paneled, smooth, glazed, or with built-in mirrors, but any type of finish will not be able to provide any normal sound insulation due to its loose connection to the wall. The box for such designs is cashed out, because the canvases still do not go beyond its limits. Doors of this type mainly serve as a screen and, of course, for decorative purposes.

swing doors

Pendulum-type sashes

Swinging or pendulum doors are not fixed with a hinged bar or a recess in the frame - they open in both directions, reminiscent of the function of the movement of a pendulum. In the case of two doors, the hinges are on the sides of the frame, but if it is one leaf, then the interior structure is attached in the middle, that is, it can rotate around its axis, like a turnstile. Such doors do not lock and swing open in any direction, after which the leaf is put in place by a closer.

If this ordinary apartment, then it is unlikely that your choice will be on a door of this type - they are more suitable for offices, luxury houses and cottages. These systems practically do not serve the closing function doorway– this is most likely a zonal partition or decorative decoration. There is practically no sound insulation in such structures.

What are the differences in material?

Canadian - one of the most inexpensive types of doors

Now let's figure out how to choose interior doors based on material and find out what professionals can advise on this matter, to whom I, without false modesty, include myself, since I have been involved in European-quality renovations for a couple of decades. Let's start with, perhaps, the most budget option, which is called “Canadian” - these are two sheets of MDF on a wooden frame, between which there is cellular cardboard.

For some reason, many people think that this is cardboard, but this is “Medium Density Fiberboard”, which means “fibreboard”, so it’s difficult to call such a sheet cardboard. By the way, plasterboard has less strength, but they do not refuse to use it to decorate walls. Some argue that such a sash is too light and in order to close it, you definitely need to press it. But this is also a half-truth - it all depends on how and what kind of lock is embedded, and if it is mounted incorrectly, then even an oak door can only be slammed with a clamp.

Next. “Canadian” can be painted in almost any color, while maintaining the structural pattern. If there is a scratch or even a small hole on the canvas, then the MDF can be puttied, sanded and painted over the area in the desired color.

So rumors about the low quality of MDF canvases are, to say the least, greatly exaggerated. Of course, such a fabric is easy to knock out, but it’s not external door, well, if someone is required to lock themselves in their room under the threat of violence, then the law enforcement agencies, that is, the police, will be more helpful here.

MDF panels are covered with furniture film

And here is another version of the same “Canadian”, made of MDF, but at the same time covered with a beautiful furniture film, that is, laminated. So what's the difference? In fact, nothing, since the canvas remains the same, but you no longer have to paint it, although this can hardly be called a big advantage. Laminate flooring can also be scratched, but if this happens, it will be impossible to restore the door to its original appearance - you will have to decorate such damage in some way.

Doors finished with natural veneer

Here the situation is already changing somewhat, not only in cost, but also in finishing. There are two options: the canvas covered with natural veneer can be the same “Canadian” MDF, but it can also be solid chipboard. In the second case, sound insulation increases significantly, and the particle board acts as both a sound-reflecting and sound-absorbing material, and if this is a private house with a cold corridor, then chipboard, like wood, will serve as thermal insulation. In some cases, the doors are made from low-grade coniferous species and then covered with natural veneer - here the thermal insulation, as well as sound-reflecting and noise-absorbing qualities are the best.

Unpainted pine panels, solid (paneled) and with glass

If we talk about solid wood, then this is most often pine, but the quality approach here can be different, since the board may or may not have certain defects, and these are:

  • frequent or falling knots;
  • cracking of boards;
  • defects in the structure of fibers;
  • fungal mold;
  • biological damage to the tree.

Due to the taking into account, or rather the absence of such errors, wood is divided into four grades:

  1. “Extra” is considered the highest grade for lumber, and absolutely all the defects described above are absent here, and any mechanical errors made during processing of the material or during painting are also unacceptable. Most often, in order to preserve the natural beauty of the structure, the canvas is coated with colorless or transparent varnish.
  2. "Prima" is also very high grade, although in some respects it is inferior to "Extra". There are visible knots here, but not black or falling out, and some even like this much more, as they emphasize the naturalness of the wood.
  3. “A” - on such material the knots are very noticeable and are often black. Door leaves can also be made from such wood, but they are already painted during processing.
  4. “B” - there are much more black knots here than in grade “A” and for doors this grade is recommended to be used in technical rooms and utility rooms.

If there are other defects, then this is already low-grade wood, from which neither panels nor door frames should be made at all - they are only suitable for a shed in the country. But be that as it may, to make doors you need to use well-dried pine, and this is 10-12% humidity. Otherwise, the blades twist, after which it is no longer possible to straighten them, that is, they stop closing normally due to the lack of adhesive tightness.

When the humidity in the apartment changes, solid wooden panels and frames can swell and, as a result, increase in size, so that friction will not allow the door to close. This is an inevitable, but correctable phenomenon - in those places where such friction has appeared, the wood is trimmed with a plane, and sometimes even sawed in height at the top or bottom. As a rule, after such an adjustment everything falls into place and does not happen again.

Exclusive oak interior door

For luxury homes, large companies or simply for large apartments exclusive designs are made to order, for example, as in the top photo. The cost of such doors depends not only on the type of wood, but also on the skill of the cabinetmaker, because you will agree that this is no longer just an obstacle, but a real work of art. Such doors have very high soundproofing and excellent thermal insulation, which also costs a lot of money.

Glass interior doors

Modern interior styles, such as shabby chic, cosmo, techno, hi-tech, and the like, require extraordinary solutions in. It is quite natural that this in a certain way affects the choice of interior doors and more and more often the owners of such premises choose glass panels, but they are somewhat different from each other. Glass can be:

  • translucent or completely matte;
  • painted in any color;
  • with a printed pattern or glued special film;
  • fully or partially mirrored.

What can you say about door frames?

There is another important issue - the correct choice of the door frame, or, to be more precise, the suitability of this frame for the door leaf you have chosen. When you buy or order a solid door leaf, you are simply asked about the width of the board for the door frame, since the thickness of the walls varies. No questions arise here - you just get finished design, which only remains to be installed. But when buying doors in a store, the situation is somewhat different - let's figure it out.

Door frame element for “Canadian” without gluing and lamination

For an ordinary “Canadian” box, the box is assembled independently from an unpainted board with a thickness of 28 mm and a cut of 8 mm for the adjoining panel, that is, the other side of the board is 20 mm. The width of the workpiece is chosen depending on the thickness of the wall, for example, if in the bathroom the tiles are laid on a plasterboard partition with a frame 100 mm thick, and with outside putty the wall, then the width of the board for the box will be 120 mm. If the frame has a thickness of 75 mm, then you will have to take a 100 mm board and sharpen it by 5 mm.

Laminated board for door frame

A slightly different situation arises with a laminated board if the door frame is assembled with a threshold (sometimes this is necessary when there is a difference in floor level). It is extremely undesirable to place such a board on the floor, since the coating (the furniture film will quickly wear off), therefore, they buy a threshold for an ordinary “Canadian” board, and then paint it in the desired color. But such boxes often do not have enough board width, so additional planks are immediately purchased in the store.

Conclusion

Now you yourself know how to choose interior doors, without even resorting to the advice of professionals - the most important thing is that you clearly understand why this door is needed and fit into the construction estimate when purchasing. Materials for installing interior doors (hinged, sliding) different types you can find on our resource.

When purchasing a particular product, most of us focus mainly on its appearance (packaging) and price. But does this guarantee that it will fully meet the buyer's expectations? You can understand the question of which interior doors are best to choose for an apartment only on the basis of an analysis of many factors, taking into account not only your material capabilities, but also the specifics of a particular room.

Nuances of planning a purchase

Before choosing a door, you need to clarify a few things:

  • Take measurements of the opening in which it will be installed. To do this, you need to dismantle the platbands. An important parameter is the thickness of the wall, since it will have to be taken into account when choosing a block structure.
  • Make a preliminary estimate. That is, approximately how much you plan to spend on the purchase. This will help save time, rather than spending it on inspecting the entire range of block structures.
  • Decide on the design of the interior door, technical features. Evaluate which model will fit better into the overall interior of the room, and what will be more convenient for your apartment - with one leaf (in this case, left- or right-handed), double-leaf, “accordion”, etc.

What you should evaluate in a furniture showroom

Door material

Solid wood

The most reliable and durable interior doors. But, in addition to the high cost (especially if the model is made of valuable wood), there are also a number of disadvantages: heavy weight, which requires the installation of especially strong hinges, and susceptibility to deformation due to fluctuations in humidity and temperature in the room.

Paneled doors

In fact, these are prefabricated structures, the manufacture of which uses inexpensive wood. As a rule, the canvas is a gluing consisting of individual fragments. The weight of such models is less, but the presence of “chemistry” can be felt if the product is not from a well-known manufacturer.

Doors based on MDF (OSV, chipboard)

They are a frame made of bars with “filling” (paper, tow or other), covered slab material. Pros: low price and light weight; disadvantages - fragility.

Combined doors

They are more often called masonite, after the name of the company that was the first to implement such an engineering solution. For the manufacture of models of this group we use different materials. They can combine wood and plastic, metal and glass. But the base is still a wooden frame, but the cladding is very different, and composite. By all indicators good designs, but the price is slightly higher due to the complexity of the technology.

Metal

Interior doors are made of duralumin. They are light, durable, and wash well. But if such a canvas is scratched, it is quite difficult to hide the defect. In addition, many people do not like their “strict”, somewhat official appearance. The prevailing opinion is that such models are inappropriate in an apartment. Although this is a matter of taste.

Glass

There are enough manufacturing options. Such doors are made of solid glass or multilayer (triplex). In any case, the material for the canvas is chosen to be of increased strength, and therefore it is quite difficult to even break it on purpose. They are also classified according to design - transparent, semi-matte, with ornaments, and so on.

Plastic

Model range significant - in texture, shade, size. Products made from polymers are very cheap, optimally combine light weight and sufficient strength, and do not deform or rot. But they require careful handling, and therefore it is advisable not to purchase them for an apartment where there are small children. Such structures cannot be repaired.

Finishing

  • Veneer. The most popular models among those who love natural materials. The cost is reasonable, but the maintainability of such doors is extremely low; You can’t do without a specialist. In practice, a heavily damaged canvas is simply replaced.
  • Lamination. There are two types of artificial turf. The cheapest and most short-lived is decorative paper. Fiberglass is much stronger and is not afraid of ultraviolet radiation, mechanical stress and moisture. But the price for such doors is higher.
  • Coloring. Registration is done various compositions. Hence the wide range of prices. The good thing about doors in this category is that, if necessary, they can be easily decorated differently. Yes, and they are inexpensive.

Opening method

  • Doors are hinged. Traditional design, when the canvas opens to the left or right. But for a small apartment - not best choice, since such models somewhat limit the free space in the room.
  • Sliding models. Great solution for any home, but only on the condition that the wall is a partition with an empty cavity. As an option, there is a free area in the room, which will allow you to move the canvas when opening.
  • Folding doors. The convenience of such models is obvious, and it’s easy to choose suitable option. For example, an “accordion” with several sections or a “book” with only 2 doors. A significant drawback of all products in this group is their fragility due to the presence of many moving elements. And the strength of such doors is minimal.
  • Pendulum models. They are convenient because they swing open in any direction. Such products are rarely purchased for apartments; except for the opening to the kitchen, through which you often have to walk with your hands occupied with something (for example, a large tray).

Quality

It is easy to determine by touch; You just need to run your palm over individual areas. If all surfaces are smooth, there are no protrusions or overlaps in the corner joints, then the door is good in this regard.

Everything else - the type of lock, the shape of the handle, fittings and the like - are secondary factors, at the personal discretion of the buyer.

On the topic the right choice A lot has been written about interior doors to apartments. But not all authors note the fact that it is better to buy all samples at once if we are talking about several similar products. Although this applies more to private houses with many rooms. It often happens that one or two are out of stock, and the manager offers to place an order for the missing copies. Why is this not the best solution?

In this case, there is a high risk that their shade will differ from previously purchased doors. Consequently, the integrity of the space in the house or apartment will be compromised. The point is that block structures even one model is produced in batches, and if their geometry remains unchanged, then external design(lamination, toning) there may be some difference. Those who are not a supporter of the originality of the interior of their home should take this into account.

Purchasing a batch of doors guarantees that the seller will make a discount. This is a common practice when purchasing in bulk. Therefore, if there is a shortage of funds, it is better not to rush, but to save up the missing amount or borrow from relatives and friends, if possible.

For different rooms doors of the same type are not the best choice. If this is an office or bedroom, then it is worth purchasing models with solid canvases. They not only provide good sound insulation, but also create the effect of “closedness”, isolation from the outside world. But for the premises general purpose(hallway, living room, kitchen) good decision there will be a choice of doors with glazing. They increase the level of illumination and visually expand the space.

Before choosing a suitable model, you should familiarize yourself with what interior doors to the apartment are available in furniture showrooms. It's worth spending time on. A typical case is that the design fits perfectly into the interior, its quality is high, but its dimensions are not suitable. One solution is to increase the opening in the wall. Such rational approach to purchase significantly expands the product selection options.

It should be taken into account that renovations (especially cosmetic ones) in the apartment are carried out more often than interior doors are changed. Therefore, it is advisable to focus on their neutral (universal) shades. For example, an excellent option is “light beech”. When choosing doors based on this criterion, you can be calm; they will look equally good against the background of any room decoration (ceiling, walls, floor).

Wooden interior doors should not be installed immediately after purchase. It takes some time for them to “adapt” to local specifics (humidity, temperature). Failure to comply with this condition will lead to the fact that after a few days the position of the block or sash will have to be adjusted.

If the door is supposed to be installed in an opening leading into a room with high humidity (bathroom or toilet room, kitchen), then it is advisable to purchase a model whose fabric has ventilation holes. Especially if it is a wood product.

The information provided fully applies to the door frame, and not to the door leaf alone. Now, knowing what you should pay attention to, it is not difficult to choose not only beautiful, but also high-quality products.

How to choose the right interior door and is it worth saving when purchasing? Professional opinion.

Photo: www.38m.ru

It would seem that it’s so difficult to choose an interior door? I measured the doorway at home, decided on the width of the canvas (it is usually a multiple of 10 cm) and off to the store! But once you find yourself in it (especially if it is a large specialized shopping center), choosing a door becomes very difficult.
So, how to choose the right interior door and is it worth saving when purchasing?
The price range for interior doors (regardless of the region of Russia in which you live) is usually represented by the following categories:
  • cheap doors (the so-called " budget option", the cost of representatives of which ranges from 2 to 7-8 thousand rubles) from wood substitutes (including MDF) or solid bars;
  • expensive wooden doors (with full surface cladding) - from 9-10 thousand rubles and above;
  • elite imported door leaves, the cost of which usually exceeds 30 thousand rubles.

At the same time, the main difference between cheap and expensive interior doors is the material from which they are made and, accordingly, the process of producing door leaves.

Production of cheap door leaves

Door leaves belonging to the “budget option”, despite the “wood” coloring, do not consist of 100% purely wooden elements. The production of such doors is as follows:

  • boards of a certain thickness and width (usually pine) are placed for three weeks in a specially equipped thermal chamber, in which drying alternates with moistening (this allows for uniform drying of the workpieces without cracks or warping);
  • after this, the dried boards are subjected to external processing: surfaces are sanded, knots are removed;
  • the wood prepared in this way is then cut into small bars, which... are glued together into a new board (after such an “operation” it practically stops reacting to the effects of water and temperature, that is, it does not deform in the process further exploitation);
  • in another workshop (or in another production) at this time they produce wood from shavings impregnated with glue;
  • the next stage is the assembly of the frame of the door leaf (frame) from glued boards; it is to this that they will be attached in the future door hinges, lock and handle;
  • the internal space of such a canvas is filled with special cardboard with a honeycomb structure, which makes it possible to give it greater rigidity;
  • after that, solid sheets of wood (for example, MDF or HDF) are attached to the door blank on both sides;
  • then a special film is glued to both sides of the canvas, imitating the structure of wood (the film can be like paper based, and PVC);
  • if necessary, holes (of various shapes and sizes) for glass are cut in the center of the workpiece.

Advantages“budget option” door leaves:

  • low cost,
  • light weight,
  • with film lining PVC door the canvas becomes waterproof (that is, such a door is ideal for installation in a bathroom),
  • variety of colors and design solutions;
  • ease of maintenance (in case of contamination, such a door should simply be wiped with a damp cloth);
  • are not subject to deformation due to sudden temperature changes.

Flaws"budget" doors:

  • poor sound-retaining properties (cellular filling is a good conductor of sound);
  • use for inserts ordinary glass, which does not withstand shock loads well and breaks easily.

Very often, instead of film, it is used to cover the surface of the door leaf. veneer- thin layer wood Since veneer itself is a rather fragile material, before using it in the production of doors it is glued to a layer of paper, which allows it to be given the necessary flexibility and strength.
Veneer glued to the door slightly increases its cost. At the same time, a high-quality door is not only covered with veneer, but also additionally coated with several layers of varnish.
However, some manufacturers, trying to reduce the cost of the door, reduce the number of varnish layers to one or two. As a result, after a year or two, such a door leaf begins to lose its original shade, as if fading (even without being in the sun). Therefore, often sellers in stores, offering you a budget option for a veneered door, advise immediately after installing it in the room to cover it with additional layers of varnish (at least two) manually (if desired, you can use tint varnish).

Cheap MDF doors

You can often hear in stores that this or that door is made of MDF. In most cases, this means that the door (cheap, belonging to the “budget” category) has wooden frame, covered with two sheets of MDF, and lined with veneer or film.

Photo: www.levsha-doors.ru

Some manufacturers have part of the frame or internal filling The door leaf is also made from MDF bars having the required thickness. In addition, these doors come complete with a frame and MDF trim. And since MDF without a top facing layer is afraid of water (it swells when it gets in), the open sections of the elements must be protected in some way (for example, with a layer of sealant).

Bar doors

An option for a completely wooden door (but at the same time not having their main drawback - high cost) is a door leaf glued together from individual strips, without a top facing layer of veneer. Such doors are often sold in construction markets along with ordinary wooden frames and trim.

The advantages of such a door: naturalness, environmental friendliness, good sound and heat insulating properties, very low cost.
The main disadvantage is the lack protective coating. Therefore, after installation in the opening, such a door leaf must be coated with a special composition for wood (with antiseptic, dirt- and water-repellent properties), as well as two or three layers of varnish. Without such protection, after a short period of time, gaps may appear in a wooden door between individual elements, which can only be eliminated with putty.
Sometimes they're completely like that wooden doors when painting, they can become “spotty”, since the elements from which they are collected will absorb the coloring composition differently (to give a more or less uniform color, it is recommended to apply at least 2 layers).

Dear doors

High cost- this is not an indicator of quality (often an inflated price for a door is the result of a longer chain of intermediaries between the manufacturer and the buyer, as well as a markup for the “name” of the manufacturer). Although a door whose cost exceeds 10 thousand rubles is most often a product hand assembled, created without the use of wood substitute materials. The production of such a door includes the following steps:

  • preparation of blanks (from oak, maple, exotic and other types of wood) of the required size, including drying them in a special chamber (this part of the process is the same for both cheap and expensive door panels), sanding and painting with special compounds;
  • assembling a door manually from individual elements fastened together with metal clamps (glass is inserted into such a door on initial stage assembly of the door, while it is like the center of the canvas around which the product is formed);
  • veneer cladding;
  • painting (at least 6 layers, including surface varnishing).

Hand-assembled doors usually have more complex design and coloring, since the door leaf is often painted by hand, which allows you to give it additional volume by playing up dark and light elements.

Advantages expensive doors:
  • respectable appearance,
  • good sound insulation - the absence of an air gap inside the door leaf and the presence instead of solid wooden elements significantly reduces the level of noise passing through the door;
  • durable glass inserts - in the production of expensive doors, triplex is usually used (two layers of glass, “baked” in a special oven with a transparent polymer film laid between them), which can withstand even a blow with a hammer;
  • variety of design solutions.

TO shortcomings Such doors include their cost, significant weight (often their installation requires not two, but three or four hinges), as well as the loss of soundproofing properties if the door leaf was installed in the frame without seals.

But the thermal insulation qualities of cheap and expensive doors are often the same, since air gap, like solid wood, is a poor conductor of heat. However, you should not stick a seal around the entire perimeter of the door frame (in the lower part a simple threshold formed by the same frame is sufficient), otherwise when closed plastic windows When closing the door, a bang will be felt and unpleasant sensations will arise for the human body.
In addition, doors made entirely of wood may shrink slightly or thin cracks may appear between individual elements of the product if the recommended conditions for their operation are violated (for example, your neighbors were flooded and the doors were exposed to high humidity for a long time, etc.) . In such cases, it is better to contact the company that sold you these doors and use the help of their specialists to eliminate the defects that have appeared.

Imported doors

It is not very profitable for selling companies to bring cheap doors from abroad, so imported doors usually belong to the class elite. At the same time, unlike products from Russian manufacturers (as well as Ukrainian and Belarusian), such door leaves are sold “as a set”: the door itself (with or without glass), a frame on a wooden base with a rubber seal, platbands on both sides, an additional strip (designed for installing doors in thick walls), overhead universal hinges (for any opening direction), handles and locks.

Recently, the most popular doors are those made in Italy and Germany, as well as those made according to exclusive design projects for a specific room interior.

Which doors to choose?

As you can see, both cheap and expensive doors have their advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, you need to approach the choice of a door leaf not only from the point of view of the financial costs of purchasing it, but also by carefully analyzing what properties the door of a particular room should have.
So for a bathroom (and combined toilets), a door that will be subjected to high humidity almost every day is better to choose from among the door panels protected by polymer films.
For a hall or living room, an expensive one is more suitable designer door, selected for the interior of the room.
The kitchen door should have good soundproofing properties in cases where noisy gatherings or meetings are often held in this room.

It is also recommended to choose a door leaf for the bedroom from among expensive and entirely wooden products.
But it’s worth choosing a cheap door for the children’s room (and one that allows sound better) - this will make it easier to control your child’s actions when you are in another room or in the kitchen.

In any case, when choosing a door, do not forget the basic design rules:

  • doors are installed last, when the repairs are already completed. High humidity indoors during repairs (for example, when wallpapering) there is a risk that the door, especially a wooden one, will swell and become deformed. In addition, doors can easily become hopelessly dirty or damaged during repairs;
  • the color of the door leaf can be in harmony (or contrast) either with the floor, or with the walls or interior items located in the room;
  • You can “maintain” the color of the door with the help of platbands, baseboards and wall panels.

Interior doors are an important element of any renovation. Various curtains and arches could not become a replacement. Their choice should be taken seriously. Read reviews on the Internet, if possible, see it in person. The pictures on the screen do not fully convey the color and texture. Most approach the issue of choosing interior doors on a residual basis, after the ceiling and walls are ready and if there is money left for them.

The main thing to look for when purchasing is appearance. This approach when choosing good doors is fundamentally wrong and threatens big problems in the future. The quality of materials not only determines appearance, but also durability. After all, who would want to buy interior doors in 2 years, when they lose their good appearance and begin to crumble?

Features of selection

Before purchasing, you need to know the dimensions of the doorway, 80–95 cm - standard size . If the opening is 110 cm or more, swing and sliding doors are suitable.

When setting an estimate for repairs, immediately decide on the amount for good interior doors. You won’t be able to save money here; quality items are expensive. If you expect to buy gradually, as you accumulate the necessary funds, you will be faced with the situation that the desired model is no longer produced by the manufacturer. To remain in demand, companies updating model ranges quite often. Prices for building materials are constantly growing, and if you find good option, you need to take it, it definitely won’t be cheaper tomorrow.

Selection criteria

Doorway measurements

  1. After measuring the height and width, check the diagonals from one corner to the other. A discrepancy greater than 1 mm indicates an error.
  2. Properly dried wood, smooth on the end side.

Glass check

  1. If the glass in the door rattles when you shake it slightly, it means it is not secured correctly. And it speaks of low quality.
  2. good frosted glass clean, without streaks or stains. Detergents and you cannot remove them in any other way. The defect is eliminated by replacing the glass with a new one.
  3. The higher the cost of glass, the better its characteristics and quality.
  4. The seal is an important part of the door that holds the glass in place. Find out from the seller what is used as a sealant.

Varieties

The price of doors is influenced by the material from which they are made. There are 3 main types:

  • Veneered.
  • Laminated.

The basis for doors (except solid wood) are composite materials - chipboard, fiberboard, MDF, OSB. They are used for cladding or base.

Interior doors made of solid wood are a sign of luxury. For production they use ash, alder, oak. Oak is considered the most durable. Such doors will decorate your interior. Doors made of softwood, the cheapest, from 5,000 rubles. An exclusive option will cost 50,000 rubles. Common models cost 15,000-30,000 rubles.

A solid door is a composite structure made of guides, panels, and crossbars. This design allows designers to radically change the appearance and give it any shape. The external decoration is very varied - mother of pearl, gilding, tinted varnish. Standard glass is replaced with stained glass with crystals and stones, which gives the doors additional luxury and exclusivity.

The quality and durability of solid wood doors is influenced by the technology of wood processing and drying. If the wood was not completely dried and covered with a layer of varnish, seasonal change moisture in the environment will cause damage paint coating. Door frames and doors with knots are susceptible to this deficiency.

In a cheap niche, from 5000 rubles, the market is controlled by Belarusian manufacturers and even Chinese factories cannot provide such a price-quality ratio. Belarusian forests are rich in different tree species, and the cost of production and labor is cheaper than in Russia. Before purchasing interior doors from Belarusian manufacturers look at the reviews, there are handicraft fakes.

When purchasing from 35,000 rubles, you can look towards Italian manufacturers. You will receive high quality and no problems with swollen varnish and broken fittings. Many years of experience and advanced technologies guarantee. The only negative is for a long time expectations and lack of opportunity to buy finished product, only on order.

Veneered

Veneered interior doors are a good option at a lower price compared to solid wood. They are very durable and not affected by moisture. There are a lot of options for exterior finishing. Price depends on veneer The more expensive the wood, the higher the price. This does not change the quality. The cheapest option is finished with artificial veneer.

The veneer covering of the canvas is divided into complete and fragmentary. In the first case, the cladding is applied entirely to the surface. After this, processing occurs on a milling machine until it is completely finished. With fragmentary veneering, individual elements are processed separately and then assembled.

Average price of a good veneer door 10000-15000 rub., depending on the manufacturer. There are quite a few Russian manufacturers in this niche, but according to customer reviews, 3 leaders stand out - “Volkhovets”, “Alexandrovskie Doors”, “Framir”.

"Volkhovets" produces interior doors costing from 12,000 rubles. According to customer reviews, the manufacturer's price is completely justified. Veneer good quality, nice appearance. In production, "Volkhovodets" uses ash, Canadian oak, and mahogany veneers.

"Alexandrovsky doors" - famous brand, among manufacturers, the price starts from 15,000 rubles. But is the increased cost justified? In this case - completely. The company does not produce hollow-core doors, only glued solid wood. This adds durability and you won't have to worry about accidentally puncturing the veneer. The model range is very extensive, there are such design trends as classic, rococo, empire, modern. There is not a single bad review of “Alexandrovskie Doors” on the Internet.

St. Petersburg company "Framir" competes at low price category, from 7300 rub. As one review says: "For the price, I'm willing to take the risk." The basis is pine honeycomb. The quality of the exterior finishing is high level, high-quality veneer, waterproof varnish. When you place an order, specify everything in the smallest detail. This happens with all manufacturers in the lower price category, they save on everything.

Laminated

Laminated interior doors are the cheapest option. They have a good appearance, a service life of up to 10 years, but do not tolerate moisture well. Before installation, you need to open it with several layers of varnish and let it sit for a week. WITH outside covered with acrylic, melamine, polyvinyl chloride film, with a wood texture. Well done laminated door covering, in appearance indistinguishable from veneer. Lamination is used both when finishing fabric with a solid frame and with honeycomb filler. Surface irregularities are smoothed out with a layer of MDF. In a cheaper version, MDF is replaced with melamine paper impregnated with resins.

Stages of manufacturing laminated interior doors

  • Assembling a frame from coniferous wood.
  • The voids of the frame are filled with MDF, fiberboard, chipboard.
  • Pasting MDF blanks.
  • Application of decorative laminated film.

In the area of the future lock, an additional block is inserted for fastening. In lightweight ones, the frame is cardboard, made in the form of a honeycomb. The resulting cake is glued together using a press. And after drying, the door becomes strong and durable.

Doors made using this technology cost little and have a good appearance. Middle option laminated doors together with a box it will cost 5000 rubles. The service life is significantly inferior to solid wood doors, but their low price and appearance have made them popular. Production technology is constantly being improved.

The Chelyabinsk company "Krasnoderevshchik" produces doors from 5,500 rubles. Production is carried out on European equipment, as are fittings. The design of interior doors is laconic. New this season is frameless glazing. The assortment is divided into groups, which reduces the time when choosing. If you have doorway custom size, no big deal, the delivery set includes telescopic trims.

"Sofya" is a well-known manufacturer, actively advertised on television. The price starts from 11,500 rubles. The price corresponds to the quality of the product. Customer reviews are only positive. Basis - pine frame covered with MDF. Decorative coating - polypropylene film. Which provides protection from moisture, mechanical damage and meets environmental standards. The glass used is shatterproof glass, which when broken produces blunt pieces.

Remember that a door is not just one leaf, but also a frame, trim, threshold, and fittings. At construction exhibitions, companies attract buyers with low prices. But then it turns out that the price includes only the door leaf, without the rest. The cost of a complete set will cost 2 times more. And if we add installation here, the final amount will exceed the exhibition price. To avoid confusion when purchasing, multiply the cost of the door leaf by 2. The door and its components (frame, thresholds, trim) must be made of the same material.

At a good interior door there is a technical passport, which describes in detail how the door was produced, in compliance with what norms and rules. Reputable companies provide such papers at all their doors. You don't have to know what these GOSTs and rules mean. The presence of product passports reduces the risk of receiving a low-quality door. Handicraft producers do not do this, attracting buyers with a low price and hoping that greed will blind them.

I'll tell you my case. After overhaul There was almost no money left on the door. I chose Verdu doors on the construction market. When compared with a more expensive option, I didn't see any visual difference. I decided to order directly from the manufacturer; as it turned out, he was not far away. When ordering the door, I was told about 2 types of platband. To my question: “How are they different from each other?” They answered me: “Nothing, just size.” In fact, it turned out that cheap trims need to be cut out yourself, but in expensive ones everything has already been done. Immediately after moving in, the outer film on the platband peeled off. And after 2 years of use, the diamond on the glass came off. Don't go cheap or be prepared for modifications.

In my new apartment I took a long time to choose the doors, looked through many options and settled on Profile Doors. When ordering, it turned out that the price on the website was 5,000 rubles, only for the canvas. And the box, handles, hinges, thresholds are purchased separately. All together cost 11,000 rubles. And I found a cheaper option. In the first place I got 16,000 rubles. As a result, I ordered the doors from the online store.

After the door was delivered, I took care of its installation. And then a shock awaited me: the price for installing the door was 2 times higher than its cost. But there was nowhere to go I had to order. Don’t repeat my mistake and order door installation directly from the seller. I can’t say anything bad about the door, not much time has passed.

Alina, Smolensk

I ordered mine online, 5 pieces. I chose veneer, light oak, without glass. The cost of the canvas is 5000 rubles. With work and everything else, it cost 12,000 rubles for one. The installation was not carried out by very professional people; they reinstalled it 2 times. Even during installation, they managed to chip off a corner of the veneer on one of the sides. After my remark they offered a discount of 1000 rubles. The doors were delivered in a large box with a passport. After the opening, it turned out that the manufacturer saved on the materials of the platband. Overall I was pleased with the purchase. But I’ll pay attention to the issue with the platband next time.

Andrey, Moscow

I’ll share my experience, maybe my review will help someone. I took care of this even before the renovation began. I looked a lot on the Internet and read reviews. At first I wanted to take it from the Sophia company. But I read the reviews and doubts crept in, but for such a price there shouldn’t be any. In one of the stores they recommended the local manufacturer Rumax. I looked at the model’s website and contacted the store. There they answered me: “But there is no such model, we order only the most popular.”

I had to look for the model I needed all over the city. One of the stores agreed to bring it to order. There are no reviews for this model on the Internet at all; it was scary to order a pig in a poke. But everything ended well, they were safely delivered and installed. I didn't notice any flaws in the assembly. Appearance - white oak with two stripes on the sides. Without glass inserts, looks very stylish. The only thing I didn't like was thickness, slightly thin. But there’s nothing you can do about it; buying online has its downsides.
